Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 138: A Simulated Spell Battle Attempt

In the sky, I saw that I had arrived at my destination and quickly descended.

Of course, the place wasn’t my dorm.

Although I was the type to go back to my dorm when I had nothing else to do, since Teacher Ji Niang had told me to go back early, there probably wasn’t anyone in the dorm at this time.

Besides, Class 14 had a class today, and it was a practical combat training course.

I hadn’t taken this class before, but Hong Chenyi had, and she had told me what the content of the course was: simulated combat training.

The specific situation was to use the ”simulated spells” solidified on special alchemy wands to conduct practical combat training.

The simulated spells didn’t cause any real damage, but the special effects were very impressive.

They could almost perfectly replicate the casting process of a real spell, and I heard it was a bit painful to be hit by one.

This course was mainly to train a person’s awareness and combat instincts for spell battles, and it also allowed one to experience the fun of casting spells without a spellbook.

Hong Chenyi had told me that the spells inside those special wands were all sorts of things:

Fireball, Wind Blade, Earth Wall, Water Escape, and so on.

They were very magical and much more interesting than those boring theoretical courses.

Hong Chenyi had also wanted to drag me along to try it.

I also wanted to try it, after all, the newcomer competition was coming soon, so how could I not practice?

So I took this opportunity to give it a try.

Although I felt that my own reflexes and adaptability were not bad, the efficiency of my Witchification, which was brought to me by my 56 Magic Power Sources, was indeed terrifying.

In addition to a certain degree of promoting my physical development, my Mental Power and physique had also improved significantly in all aspects.

But I also had some shortcomings.

For example, my Mental Power was pan-affinity, which didn’t give me any buffs when using spells.

In fact, by now, I was a little unimpressed with the improvements that this so-called Mental Power affinity brought.

Even if the other person had some kind of elemental affinity that greatly increased their spell’s power, didn’t I have my ”modded” spells?

I was a master of technical work.

After landing, I put away my broom and then hugged the black cat that had been on my shoulder.

This summoning spell hadn’t disappeared yet.

I didn’t know if it was because I hadn’t made it do any intense combat.

The continuous consumption of the spirit cat in this state was not high.

I have to say, holding an obedient little cat in my arms was really nice!

I bet the people who saw me were very envious, right?

Who would have thought that this was a spell that consumed ten magic power?

After entering this huge practical combat training hall, the spacious and empty indoor space made me quickly spot some familiar faces.

I didn’t know many people in the Academy right now, only the classmates from my class.

I could probably remember their names, but I didn’t really know anyone from other classes.

”Hey, am I seeing things? Is that our class president?”

”Huh? Where? How is that possible?”

”Yeah, our class president wouldn’t be here at this time.”

”No, that really looks like our class president!”

”Don’t say... it really is her!”

Finally, someone recognized me, who hadn’t been to class with them for a long time.

I usually interacted with them in the group chat, but I didn’t meet them in person much.

”Hi everyone, long time no see.”

I walked over, trying to be as enthusiastic as possible.

”Is your class that relaxed?”

”Class president, I can’t believe you came to class!”

”Such a cute cat. Where did you abduct it, class president?”

”Oh, the teacher just lets us practice on our own. It’s not that intense.”

Suddenly, with my arrival, many girls came over to ask all sorts of questions.

Of course, the spirit cat in my arms was naturally more eye-catching than me.

After a brief conversation with them and explaining my purpose, many more people came over, including Hong Chenyi.

”Big Sis Xiao Han, why are you here?”

”I came to try out some practical combat. I can’t just cram at the last minute, you know.”

I said, shaking my head as if helpless.

”Yeah! Come on, let’s try it together! I told you we should come to this practical combat class to practice. The teacher who’s with us is also very easy to talk to.”

Hong Chenyi heard what I said and immediately pulled me toward the class.

I didn’t refuse and followed her.

I also met the teacher and explained the situation, and then I got a special wand.

I got a short wand.

It was indeed quite different from my own.

The inside did have a structure similar to a Solidified Spell.

”Hehe Big Sis Xiao Han. Let’s have a match now. Even though you don’t have experience, I won’t go easy on you!”

Hong Chenyi said impatiently.

And the commotion here attracted the attention of many people.

After all, the class president who was rarely seen suddenly appeared and was going to have a simulated battle.

Everyone naturally wanted to watch.

And they were all a little displeased that their class president from Class 14 wasn’t on the various combat power prediction lists that had been circulating in the Academy recently.

But when they thought about how their class president had no practical combat experience and hadn’t shown any terrifying strength, many of them felt a little apprehensive.

In the crowd, there was one person who was also very concerned about this.

That was Tu Xingyue.

She was the one who had voiced her disagreement with me becoming the class president in the class.

In the end, she became the vice class president and fulfilled the duty of managing the class when the class president was absent.

She had been scared when Teacher Ji Niang had said that people could die in the competition, but now, she was working hard, studying, and practicing practical combat skills to prove that she was not inferior to anyone!

Similarly, she was also overcoming her fear of possible death.

Tu Xingyue took this battle very seriously.

She felt that if I didn’t perform well, she would immediately find the counselor and ask her to replace me as class president.

If the counselor still refused to do so, she didn’t mind personally going up there and crushing me once.

At least...

At least Tu Xingyue wanted others to know that if Class 14 lost badly, it wasn’t because everyone was a weakling, but because Class 14’s class president was a weakling.

And all of this was under the premise that I lost badly.

If I was a genius, she...

she didn’t mind holding back for now.

The feeling of being mocked by the entire class was really uncomfortable.

She had just managed to change her image in the class during this time, and she didn’t want to fall into that difficult situation again because of her own brainless actions.

”Hehe Big Sis Xiao Han, are you ready?”

Hong Chenyi was already a little impatient and kept asking.

”Mhm... Let me get used to this wand.”

I swung the wand and tried a few times.

I quickly became familiar with the spells inside.

However, the spells in it were all very useless.

For me, who was used to ”modding” spellbooks, this way of using them was too rigid, but it wasn’t completely unusable.

”Alright, let’s begin.”

As soon as I finished speaking, I saw Hong Chenyi waving her wand with a flamboyant motion.

”Take my Fireball!”

As she waved her wand, a brilliant Fireball appeared in front of her, along with the ritual formation for the Fireball spell.

Then it shot toward me, but the speed was nothing to brag about.

I just quickly stepped to the side and ran a few steps to dodge it.

The aftermath of the Fireball’s explosion didn’t even affect me.

”Um, my aim isn’t very good... but... Wind Blade! Dual Casting! Hehe! You fell for it!”

Hong Chenyi looked helpless when she saw her first Fireball miss, but her tone quickly changed, and her so-called ”dual casting,” a second hidden Wind Blade spell, immediately flew toward me.

”This Hong Chenyi is too despicable, isn’t she? Dual casting? Isn’t that a wand bug? We can’t actually learn the real dual casting technique right now.”

”Exactly! Hong Chenyi is garbage!”

”How embarrassing”

At this moment, Hong Chenyi’s actions immediately caused a wave of contempt from the students who were watching.

But I wasn’t too flustered.

The Wind Blade’s attack speed was much faster than the Fireball’s.

But it was stopped by an Energy Shield halfway before it could even hit me.

”Huh? Huh? What’s going on? Where’s my Wind Blade! Where did my big Wind Blade go!”

Hong Chenyi was still immersed in the joy of her sneak attack succeeding, but in the blink of an eye, her attack was gone, which made her very embarrassed!

”Wait! That shield just now, the wand doesn’t have that spell, does it! Big Sis Xiao Han, you’re cheating!”

”Don’t pretend you didn’t hear me. It seems you also cheated just now, abusing a bug, right?”

I wasn’t embarrassed by her words.

These were all methods I could use, so it was natural to use them.

The competition wouldn’t be using these simulated spells, so it wouldn’t be good to rely too much on these fake things.

So I was just using this wand to experience a real spell battle.

Moreover, the internal structure of this special wand was very similar to a spellbook, but the essence was different.

There was no point in me changing the internal structure because this thing was not a real spell but a simulation.

”Fireball incoming”

After a certain amount of casting time, a Fireball appeared in front of me.

As someone who was an expert in the Way of Fireball, I could naturally tell that this Fireball was very ordinary.

Once I cast it, I would immediately lose control of it.

But I wasn’t picky right now.

What I needed was experience for a real battle.

I didn’t need to show them my overwhelming combat power to give the class confidence.

If I set myself on a pedestal from the very beginning, the burden I would have to carry would be too heavy.

And before the competition, I didn’t know if the other class presidents would have information gathered on me.

So there was no need for me to reveal my trump cards from the get-go.

After several Fireball exchanges with Hong Chenyi, I no longer continued this boring turn-based battle.

After all, so-called spells were not just evocation spells.

There were also many others, such as summoning spells, transformation spells, and even illusion spells.

In the final competition, I would be facing the class presidents of each class.

They might have also obtained spells from various sources, but they would definitely not only have spells like Fireball.

Similarly, I also tried some tests with other classmates.

They were all very concerned about my combat power.

After all, I would be representing the entire Class 14 in the competition.

It was normal for them to be concerned.

Just as I was resting on the side, a figure walked up to me and blocked my view.

”Um... Tu Xingyue? Is something wrong?”

I put down my water bottle and asked curiously.

”You’re very relaxed. If your practical combat is only at this level, it would be better for me to go up instead.”

Tu Xingyue was very unhappy with my reaction, especially my relaxed look right now.

”Are you worried about me? You’re too kind. But the class competition will definitely not be as childish as it is now. The battle won’t just be throwing simulated spells at each other. Spells aren’t limited to the few evocation spells you’ve tried now.”

”Are you... lecturing me?”

”Huh? No.”

I looked up at Tu Xingyue.

Where did she get the idea that I was lecturing her?

I was just trying to say that this kind of practical combat training wasn’t very useful for me.

I was good at modifying various spells to deal with all sorts of unexpected situations in battle, not being limited by the rigid rules of this thing.

”The competition will be about our own methods. I know you’re not happy with me. So, do you mind if we have a match? A real match, not with simulated spells.”

”You! You know I don’t have many spells and not much magic power. You’re bullying me! Don’t think I don’t know how much Counselor Ji Niang takes care of you! She must have given you many spells and many Magic Power Sources. How could I possibly beat you!”

Tu Xingyue was clearly provoked by my suggestion, and her sense of injustice immediately burst out.

”Since you know all that, you should feel at ease. I will do my best.”

After listening to her, I gently comforted her.

I naturally knew the grievances she had.

I didn’t mind her defiance.

After all, if she were the class president, she might have also enjoyed the same benefits, obtaining spellbooks and Magic Power Sources.

This was an opportunity to soar.

Now that this opportunity was taken by me, it was only natural for her to feel bad.

I actually admired girls like Tu Xingyue.

She was very hardworking and dedicated.

I even heard about her from Hong Chenyi.

It was just that my appearance made her efforts seem like a joke.

And Tu Xingyue wasn’t the kind of unreasonable person.

She even cared about the class.

If I were to become her enemy and cause a conflict with a person like her, it would be my fault.

It was just that the current situation put me and her on opposing sides, so I needed to be more tolerant.

”Anyway, thank you for leading everyone to improve while I was away. I can’t change the teacher’s decision, but I believe we can make progress together in the future.”

”Hmph! You’re so full of sweet talk. I just did what a vice class president should do. But listen to me! If you don’t perform well enough to be the class president, I will definitely not let go of the chance to take you down! I swear!”

”Alright, alright But thank you for your understanding.”

The smile on my face didn’t fade as I watched her leave.
