Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 118: Earth Vein Stagnation

“I’m sorry, there’s no explanation, after all, to explain is to cover up. I am sincerely expressing my thoughts, or rather, my decision.”

I shook my head, still speaking the words in my heart.

Just like I said before, the conversation between Tan Han and me could only be apologies.

“Alright, very straightforward. It seems I shouldn’t continue to pester you either. But I still wanted to tell you something. Since I happened to run into you here, I was planning to come over and chat with you about this. But I didn’t expect it to turn out this way. Just consider our original exchange as some information I’m giving you.”

As Tan Han spoke, she handed over a stack of bound papers.

“This is a copied document about the Earth Vein Stagnation within the academy. The specifics are recorded in detail inside. I think if you finish reading it, you should understand what this represents.”

I looked at the stack of documents in Tan Han’s hand, and for a moment, I didn’t know whether I should take it.

“Alright let’s put it another way. If you take this document, I won’t come to bother you in the future, hmm?”

Tan Han tilted her head and continued to hold it out in front of me, as if gesturing for me to take it quickly.

“Thank you…”

In the end, I still took the document.

Although I didn’t know what was inside, I did hear words like ”Earth Vein.”

Unfortunately, my understanding of Earth Vein information wasn’t very detailed.

But from my experience with its information-gathering capabilities, the Earth Vein was a very important thing.

“No need to thank me. After all, we can’t be friends. You need to learn not to say thank you to people who aren’t your friends, Class President of Class 14. Coincidentally, I’m the Class President of Class 1. Perhaps we’ll meet again in the future.”

After saying this, Tan Han walked away without looking back.

Leaving me with an awkward expression.

Tan Han already knew I became the Class President of Class 14?

Where did she get this information?

I clearly haven’t been the class president for long myself.

After calming my mood, I took the stack of documents and sat down quietly to read.

Although the earlier interlude made things a bit difficult for me, at least it wasn’t without good news.

That is, the relationship between Tan Han and me was completely severed.

The only thing to worry about might be the issues between our classes in the future, right?

We are both class presidents, so it’s inevitable that we’ll have contact in the future.

The class president of Class 1 really fits the identity of a study god.

After shaking off the emotions brought on by others, I calmed my mind and entered a state of reading again.

The document Tan Han gave me was very comprehensive; it seemed to be information found somewhere.

It recorded the Earth Vein network within the academy.

And it also thoughtfully introduced the characteristics of the Earth Vein, which is its ability to carry information.

Because of this characteristic, countless complex pieces of information and past histories converged within the Earth Vein, and it could even cause destruction along with the surge of transcendent energy and so on.

Therefore, a phenomenon would occur within the Earth Vein network, and that is Earth Vein Stagnation.

These phenomena would cause an entire area to fall into an abnormal state, where it could even affect the normal flow of energy and interfere with the normal feedback of devices that collect information through the Earth Vein.

For example, if there was Earth Vein Stagnation where my villa is located, then casting spells there could have various effects, such as a Fireball detonating prematurely, a Protective Spell trapping oneself, and so on.

It could even affect the normal operation of alchemical items inside the villa, causing energy short circuits.

This required professional equipment, or in other words, alchemical products, to dredge the Earth Vein Energy.

This should have been a very normal act, one that didn’t even have anything to do with me, Tan Han, or even all the new students.

But the things described next indeed made my heart race.

Generally, this kind of Earth Vein Stagnation needed to be dredged by professionally trained seniors using professional instruments, but during this process, there could naturally be extra actions.

That is, through certain means, one could strip out the ”things” carried within the Earth Vein.

This included unanalyzable information, the academy’s unknown past history, various memories accumulated within the academy from the seniors’ training, and after being stripped from the Earth Vein, the re-condensed and manifested transcendent materials, and so on.

Not to mention the things mentioned earlier, the special energy substances formed by transcendent energy condensed after being baptized by the Earth Vein were very precious things.

The document then emphasized two things.

One was the accumulated training memories within the academy.

This was a pure form of memory, one that did not include subjective cognition, so it was a consumable for autonomous learning that was almost close to perfect.

To make an analogy, it was like the experience points used to level up a character in a game.

Acquiring this memory was like watching a memory in one’s own mind as if one had personally experienced it, and it wouldn’t affect a person’s self-awareness, worldview, and so on.

Of course, the drawback was that the things learned might not be what one needed, the difficulty of acquisition was very high, the output was very low, and it also required one’s own coordinated training.

Otherwise, it was no different from watching a vivid 5D movie.

As for the transcendent materials condensed from pure transcendent energy, their preciousness was very high.

Compared to naturally formed materials and artificial materials, they possessed a rarer uniqueness and could serve as samples to provide new ideas for new types of artificial materials.

So in a word, it was expensive, the most top-tier luxury item.

This document seemed to have just been released.

These two days were the time for new student enrollment, and also the time when the academy used the Earth Vein on a large scale.

After the new student enrollment ended would be the peak period for Earth Vein Stagnation.

After all, the Earth Vein usually flowed within a fixed network, and the probability of a sudden Earth Vein Stagnation was extremely small.

But Witch Academy’s various actions of using the Earth Vein to create enrollment special effects seriously violated the original operating method of the Earth Vein, so it would naturally produce various stagnations.

Even though the three days of enrollment had not yet ended, there were already signs of stagnation in various places within the academy.

Actually, this wasn’t a bad thing, but rather something the academy did intentionally.

It was just a once-a-year way of making the best use of the Earth Vein.

It was a summary of the past year and also a form of encouragement for the new students.

That’s right, the output from this Earth Vein Stagnation would be used as rewards for the new students.

And as for how this reward would be distributed, it would naturally be given to the class representative, that is, the class president, to acquire.

Therefore, in a class, selecting the class president was the first competition within the class.

And how much a class could get was the second competition among the various class presidents.

At this moment, I could be said to have felt the pressure of the class president position.

Although I had indeed gotten my hands on resources, this pressure was real.

Moreover, I was the class president appointed by the counselor, without any discussion or competition with anyone.

Wouldn’t this directly cause public outrage?

If it was like this, how could I lead Class 14 to be united?

If I were to divide this reward equally among the people in the class, I would definitely be unwilling.

Regardless of whether it could be divided among the hundred or so people in the class, whether the reward could be divided at all was a problem.

Whether due to objective conditions or selfish motives, this could not be divided.

At least, that’s what I thought.

This Tan Han had really sent me a hot potato.

Was this another form of anxiety peddling?

If this was ultimately a competition between class presidents, then it seemed a bit more reasonable that Tan Han knew I was the Class President of Class 14.

But how did she know this information?

It couldn’t be because Ji Niang had a big mouth and went around telling everyone, right?

That seemed unlikely just thinking about it.
