The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Zhang Zhen stood by and watched Fu Yu marinate.

A sudden thought flashed through his mind.

He carefully recalled the scene when Fu Yu declined, saying he wasn’t good at marinating.

Suddenly, Zhang Zhen thought of something incredible yet very reasonable.

Could it be that Fu Yu was being politely humble back then?

Thinking back to how Fu Yu had always been modest and courteous since joining the music restaurant.

With this realization, Zhang Zhen felt a warmth in his heart.

Look at Fu Yu, how high is his level of awareness!

Always providing opportunities for others to show off, never intending to overshadow anyone.

Yet, he actually believed that Fu Yu wasn’t good at marinating!

How foolish!

In terms of capability, he couldn’t even surpass a young man in his early twenties!

Thinking about this, Zhang Zhen couldn’t help but blush and looked at Fu Yu with a gaze that grew more gentle and kind.

At this time, Master Chen finally handed the grilled food to an assistant to plate, and took a moment to focus on Fu Yu’s marinating.

And as soon as he saw it, he found it hard to look away.

The key points and difficulties in marinating food lie in: determining the ratio of seasonings and marinating time, ensuring the flavor is absorbed, and maintaining the color and texture of the ingredients as much as possible, so they perfectly blend with the sauce when grilled later.

After marinating the lamb, Fu Yu looked up and saw two assistants still busy skewering cabbage.

So, he picked up a bamboo skewer and began skewering himself.

Skewering may seem simple, but achieving an attractive shape when grilled depends heavily on the technique used while skewering.

Master Chen watched carefully, his gaze carrying an air of scrutiny.

Only to see Fu Yu swiftly and precisely adjust the marinated meat between his fingers, pick up the bamboo skewer, and begin skewering meticulously.

This operation was seamless!

He swiftly continued to skewer one after another.

This didn’t seem like something a regular cook would do,

but rather the demeanor of a chef with decades of grilling expertise!

Master Chen couldn’t help but let his gaze wander from Fu Yu’s adept hands to his youthful and handsome face.

Master Chen sighed.

Truly, the waves of the Yangtze River push forward the waves behind!

One can’t help but acknowledge aging!

At the same time, Zhang Zhen watched Fu Yu swiftly skewer a small basin of lamb, while the two assistants together hadn’t finished skewering a basin of cabbage.

For a moment, Zhang Zhen couldn’t help but be full of emotion!

In life, it seems one must remain humble!

Zhang Zhen, who had always been good at drawing inferences from one example, learned a lesson from this.

That is, when encountering anything related to cooking in the future, if Fu Yu says he can’t do it, then he should also remain humble.

Once the skewering was finished, Master Chen vacated a grill for Fu Yu to handle the grilling of the meat skewers and cabbage.

Brushing oil, skewering, grilling, step by step in an orderly fashion.

An assistant worked to aid the two grilling chefs, keeping a busy yet organized pace.

Soon, the grilling was about to be completed!

Master Chen, seeing Zhang Zhen approaching, assumed he had something to say and couldn’t help but ask, ”Chef Zhang, do you need something?”

Zhang Zhen gave an awkward smile: ”Oh, I originally had a couple of questions to discuss with Chef Fu, but now seeing how well Chef Fu grills, I just wanted to watch.”

He spoke honestly, but simultaneously felt a bit anxious.

He initially thought Fu Yu, starting mid-way, just had a bit of talent, which is why his grilling skills improved rapidly, but unexpectedly, even his marinating was done so well.

This is quite demoralizing...

Zhang Zhen smiled and said: ”Chef Fu, your grilling skills are quite good! The marinating you did earlier was also very authentic.”

If normally praised like this, Fu Yu would just accept it.

But with Master Chen around,

his grilling technique was, after all, taught by Master Chen, who later relied on practice teaching to aggressively learn.

Accepting the compliment now felt a bit awkward for him.

”It’s mainly because Master Chen taught well; without Master Chen’s hands-on teaching back then, I wouldn’t be this good now.”

Fu Yu spoke from the heart, but as the others heard, it painted a different picture!

Zhang Zhen, not very knowledgeable about grilling, felt reaffirmed in Fu Yu’s modesty, thinking he had judged correctly before.

Standing next to him, the assistant suddenly recalled Fu Yu’s previous actions, realizing that indeed, his movements and grilling sequence were somewhat reminiscent of Master Chen!

Master Chen, who had initially felt full of sentiment, was taken aback upon hearing this...

Are you kidding me?

I painstakingly practiced to learn your grilling method, spending days and nights in the grilling area, constantly revisiting the previous grilling techniques in my mind, to barely achieve a breakthrough...

You learned from me for less than a month, starting from scratch, and yet, you managed to acquire all my skills and techniques?

Thinking about it, Master Chen suddenly felt like he had made a losing bargain.

But he quickly realized that without Fu Yu, he might never have achieved a breakthrough in grilling techniques in his lifetime.

Upon this realization, Master Chen felt both full of emotion and helplessness.

After all, talent is innate; that’s how strong he is, and nothing more needs to be said by others.

Having thought through everything, Master Chen looked at Fu Yu, feeling a sense of indescribable desolation.

Truly, comparing oneself to others only leads to frustration...

Zhang Zhen watched Fu Yu grilling.

What once seemed ambitious now looked like a withered eggplant.

He originally thought he could show off in front of Fu Yu, flaunt his recent progress, gain Fu Yu’s recognition, and receive some suggestions.

But before making a move, Fu Yu effortlessly shattered his perceptions, showcasing his skills splendidly.

Just as Zhang Zhen was about to sigh, he accidentally turned and saw Master Chen multitasking.

He suddenly came to his senses!

Right!

Why was he wasting time competing with Fu Yu?

He came to discuss red cooking techniques with Fu Yu, and grilling wasn’t even related.

In the realm of barbecue, Fu Yu learned from Master Chen. Now that Fu Yu is so skilled, even surpassing Master Chen, it shows Fu Yu has surpassed his teacher.

Since Master Chen had no reaction, why was he getting agitated?

Wasn’t this just causing himself unnecessary grief?

Besides, grilling was quite popular at Qianlima, and Fu Yu had practiced a lot, so it made sense he improved quickly.

As for Fu Yu being so outstanding...

That’s his ability, inherent talent, simply having that kind of aptitude and strength.

And Fu Yu never kept his knowledge to himself.

Such honesty in attitude is something truly worth learning.

Culinary skills, after all, require experience and learning, and everyone has their unique views and insights.

Fu Yu is someone Zhang Zhen deeply admires.

Comparing himself with Fu Yu was just causing unnecessary trouble for himself!
