The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Thinking back to when I came to the restaurant just now, the meal replacement area was crowded with people.

Luo Rang said, ”How about this, I’ll go over and take a look.”

Master Sun immediately breathed a sigh of relief, ”Sure, then help me find out exactly what other requirements he has.”

Luo Rang has always been reliable in his work, and Master Sun was very reassured.

When Luo Rang left, Fu Yu definitely had to follow.

The two hurriedly walked out of the roasting area, and only then did Luo Rang remember that he was so focused on solving the problem just now, that he forgot to introduce Fu Yu and Master Sun.

But now was not the time to dwell on this.

Luo Rang glanced at Fu Yu, and a thought crossed his mind.

Right!

Although he knew nothing about roasting, Fu Yu’s roasting skills were clearly on par with Master Sun’s.

With him there, communication with the customer would be much smoother.

As Luo Rang thought about this, he couldn’t help but ask, ”Chef Fu, could you come along with me? Mainly because I don’t know much about roasting. I fear that if the customer makes some demanding requests, I won’t be able to handle it.”

The next second, Fu Yu heard an electronic prompt in his ear:

[Ding! Task from NPC Chef Luo Rang: Successfully roast authentic plain lamb scorpions and gain customer satisfaction. Task reward: An upgraded version of the Unique Craftsmanship badge. One key to a painting skills teaching and practice class.]

Fu Yu: ”!”

So the Unique Craftsmanship badge can be upgraded?

Great news!

But learning painting skills...

Is a bit pointless, isn’t it?

As a chef, does it matter if he can paint well or not, what use is that?

Thinking this, Fu Yu nodded cheerfully, ”Alright, let’s go, I’ll come with you.”

If it were any other area, Fu Yu might not be so confident, but in roasting, he dared to claim the first, no one else would dare claim the second.

After all, whether it’s related personal advanced skills, or the seemingly endless roasting practice in the teaching practical classes, they had all instilled in him infinite confidence and very rich roasting experience.

Fu Yu prided himself on being able to meet any customer requirement, but if he really encountered a completely unreasonable customer deliberately picking faults, then he wouldn’t be able to help much.

In the end, Luo Rang would have to handle it himself.

Luo Rang led the way directly to a private room on the first floor.

Upon entering, they found the customers were one man and two women.

The man looked around forty years old, with a very masculine face, and was chatting cheerfully with the two girls, having strong and distinct features, he wasn’t extraordinarily handsome, but he had a very manly appeal.

The two girls looked very young, dressed and appeared to be in their early twenties at most.

Luo Rang wasn’t wearing a uniform, but when they entered, they were brought in by the server responsible for the private room, and directly introduced themselves.

Hearing that the restaurant chef had come, the middle-aged man had a good attitude.

”Your restaurant’s lamb is quite good, very fresh, not the kind stored frozen in the market, the taste is okay. But this lamb scorpions, the roasting really isn’t authentic enough. The real plain roasted lamb scorpions aren’t marinated, the lamb is roasted to be crispy outside and tender inside, the meat between the bones should be soft, what’s up with this falling apart? The meat should cling to the bone, that’s the tasty part!”

”The properly roasted lamb scorpions should be eaten with a dipping sauce, that’s the authentic way!”

The middle-aged man’s tone wasn’t impatient when he spoke, his calm and articulate speech was rather convincing instead of annoying.

Luo Rang listened quietly, without saying anything.

Fu Yu silently stared at the sketch above the middle-aged man’s head.

A large tray with two skewers of roasted lamb scorpions on it, with a small dish of dipping sauce beside them.

But no matter how vividly the sketch was drawn, it could only show what materials were in the picture through the contrast of black and white shading, but neither the real color of the materials nor some detailed imagery could be as clear as a photograph, letting one observe where the problems lie.

For example, the dipping sauce’s color wasn’t discernible, nor could the ingredients within it be determined.

And the lamb scorpions could only be seen to be roasted, the rest had to be analyzed and imagined independently.

Wondering if the Unique Craftsmanship badge would turn the sketches into colored drawings or present a 3D image once upgraded.

Multi-tasking, Fu Yu pondered his task reward while listening to the middle-aged man’s demands.

The middle-aged man was quite detailed, requesting a serving of fresh roasted lamb scorpions with dipping sauce.

But about the taste of the dipping sauce...

At this point, Luo Rang spoke up, asking, ”Can I ask, what kind of taste do you prefer for the sauce?”

Four Seas Banquet specializes in lamb scorpion hot pot, the restaurant abounds in all sorts of sauces.

There are assorted ingredients separately placed for customers to mix and match in the hall, as well as various very popular secret sauces.

A great variety, very comprehensive.

Luo Rang was confident, as long as he could find out the middle-aged man’s taste, he could certainly provide a sauce that suited him.

The middle-aged man was not deliberately making it difficult, and seriously said, ”Eating roasted lamb scorpions, of course, can’t be with the spicy dip, and the original dip your shop makes isn’t good either, the three sauces that were served just now, none of them are palatable! Eating lamb without chive flower, can it be fresh? Lamb is unlike other meat, you’re supposed to eat with the gamy flavor, it’s all suppressed by the sauce, what’s left for me to eat?”

Luo Rang: ”!”

Whoa!

What the heck is he even saying?

He outright rejected their shop’s classic, most popular three kinds of sauces with a single sentence!

Four Seas Banquet’s most distinctive, highest-rated are the classic sauce, the special dry seasoning, and the unique mutton pot dipping sauce.

The chive flower the middle-aged man mentioned is for dipping when having lamb scorpion hot pot?

That’s for pairing with steamed lamb.

This person clearly knew something about eating, didn’t seem to be here to pick faults, but his demand was baffling.

Lamb scorpions are not to be marinated, directly roasted.

Alright!

Roast then!

Dipping sauce can’t be the spicy dip, and the restaurant’s special sauce doesn’t suit him.

Alright!

Change then!

But needing a dipping sauce which doesn’t cover up the lamb’s own gamy taste.

This was quite demanding.

Because the restaurant’s classic sauce, being light in taste, paired with roasted lamb scorpions, is the perfect match.

What other sauce could be even lighter in taste?

At the moment, nothing came to Luo Rang’s mind.

After all, the purpose of sauce is to flavor.

The roasted lamb scorpions themselves are marinated before being roasted, sauces too bland won’t match with the rich aroma of the braised meat!

But to say the customer is intentionally making things difficult, did not seem to be the case either.

The middle-aged man was still very cooperative, and the two large plates of lamb scorpions on the table were nearly finished by the three of them.

No idea or clue came to Luo Rang’s mind, he reflexively looked at Fu Yu.

Fu Yu seriously listened to the middle-aged man’s demands.

One serving of fresh roasted lamb scorpions, one suitable dipping sauce.

The dipping needed chive flower, yet had to taste mild, not overpower the lamb’s own gamy taste.

Lacking specific sauce names or detailed taste description, Fu Yu dared not ensure which sauce the middle-aged man would favor.

He could only choose the sauce that best fit the standard, minimizing mistakes, trying to meet the middle-aged man’s requirements.

Fu Yu carefully rummaged in his mind, recalling various sauces he made in the teaching and practice class before, comparing and selecting one!

Picking the tallest among the short, he could only rely on his feeling!

But a more detailed understanding of taste preference should be acquired.

Seeing Luo Rang stop communicating, Fu Yu had no choice but to actively ask, ”May I ask, do you have any dietary restrictions, or what flavor you particularly like?”

The middle-aged man glanced at Fu Yu, but didn’t underestimate him because he looked young.

He cooperatively responded earnestly, ”I don’t have food restrictions, but I do enjoy fried Sichuan pepper, oh, and I like eating garlic too.”

Fu Yu nodded, smiled, and said, ”Without garlic, half the flavor when eating meat is lost. You do know your stuff! Our restaurant actually has two sauces that should meet your requirements. Please wait, we’ll go for roasting now.”

Luo Rang: ”!”
