The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

During the conversation that followed, Mrs. Fu and Mr. Fu got lost in their thoughts in perfect unison.

The old couple shared an unspoken understanding.

Considering Fu Yu’s personality, they felt that the current situation made him eager to buy a house.

Either he had found a girl he liked and wanted to settle down,

or he was in a relationship and got the girl pregnant.

However, no matter the situation, both were scenarios the couple would love to see happen.

The house definitely needs to be bought!

Since Fu Yu had connections that could offer a discount and was keen on seeing the house, they should go.

If it looks good, they should just go ahead and buy it.

But when it comes to the money part...

Mr. Fu looked at Mrs. Fu.

Right at that moment, Mrs. Fu looked over.

Their eyes met.

If a loan is needed, then they should go ahead!

Back at the hotel.

Fu Yu accompanied his parents back to their room.

Lin Minghao originally wanted to come along, but his parents had things to discuss with him, so he reluctantly followed them.

Once the door was closed, it was just the three of them.

Only then did Mr. Fu say, ”Son, you don’t need to feel any pressure. Your mom and I support you in buying a house in Bei’an.”

Fu Yu was taken aback: ”Dad...”

Mr. Fu continued, ”Actually, before we came over this time, your mom and I talked about this. Now that you have a stable job and will definitely stay in Bei’an in the future. If you find a suitable girlfriend and start a family, you two will live here too.”

”Having a house means having a home. No matter when, people always need a place they can call home!”

Mrs. Fu held Fu Yu’s hand: ”Your dad’s right! Son, your dad and I have already discussed it. We might not have achieved much, but over the years, we’ve saved up a bit. Altogether, we have 180,000 yuan. With the money you have, paying for the house in full is out of the question. But we should be able to manage the down payment by borrowing some from relatives and friends.”

”We can also help you with the mortgage payments...”

Upon hearing this, Fu Yu hurriedly said, ”No need! Keep your savings for yourselves! I have money on hand! Besides this year’s salary, I’ve also earned commissions from extra home service jobs, and wages from part-time work at the music restaurant, along with the income from herbal meals. To be honest, I haven’t told you, but I’ve saved quite a bit.”

Lowering his head and smiling, Fu Yu showed his parents the balance in his online bank account: ”If you don’t believe me, look, I’ve really earned some money.”

Mr. and Mrs. Fu looked at the account balance on the phone screen and truly didn’t expect it.

”Son, did you earn all this?”

”What dishes did you cook to make 80—no, 820,000?”

Mr. Fu’s eyes widened, then narrowed, his face breaking into deeply etched wrinkles of a delighted smile: ”Son, the meal we had tonight was the most expensive meal I’ve ever had. It cost over 2,000 yuan, right?”

Fu Yu smiled, his youthful exuberance showing, and held his head high: ”That’s nothing. My herbal meal one table alone costs over 10,000 yuan, it’s incomparable really.”

Mrs. Fu stared at the long string of numbers on the screen, counting the digits repeatedly: ”Son, you earn so much from cooking now? How many dishes and jobs have you done to earn this much? You’ve out-earned what your dad and I have made in a lifetime, but it must be exhausting...”

Seeing his wife on the verge of an emotional outburst, Mr. Fu quickly gestured for her to stop speaking.

Mr. Fu patted Fu Yu on the shoulder and after a moment said, ”Son, you’re quite capable and talented. Your dad doesn’t have much ability to help you, so whatever you choose to pursue, you have to rely on yourself. But from what I see now, with your cooking skills, you can support a family for a lifetime. Really, you will definitely find your way forward.”

”But still, son, remember to always prioritize your health. It’s the foundation of everything. If your body fails, no amount of money will matter, and you’ll end up spending it all in the hospital, unable to enjoy anything yourself.”

In the end, Mrs. Fu insisted on giving the family’s bank card to Fu Yu, with a password matching his birthday.

Fu Yu refused: ”I have enough money, mom. You and dad should keep it, you might need it in an emergency.”

”Take it. You can use it for the down payment, and the rest for mortgage payments,” Mr. Fu laughed: ”We saved this money for you all along. Your mom and I have jobs, and we earn enough to live comfortably. There’s no need for you to worry about us.”

Mrs. Fu added: ”Exactly, you’re the only one we worry about. Once you’re settled into your new home, we’ll finally feel assured.”

Fu Yu tried to refuse again, but Mr. Fu leaned in and sniffed: ”You having money makes us feel at ease, but one thing...you better not waste it on cigarettes!”

Fu Yu was shocked, rubbing his leg with his foot: ”Huh? I haven’t!”

Mr. Fu mocked him: ”You think I can’t smell the smoke on you? I even know what brand you smoke!”

Fu Yu lowered his head in submission, smiling meekly to please his father: ”Hehe, I only smoke cheap ones, and I’m not addicted, just an occasional one to relax. My master smokes Zhonghua, really classy. I even bought him some twice before. In the future, I’ll buy you Zhonghua, as a tribute!”

Mr. Fu felt gratified, patting him on the shoulder: ”Alright, alright! Pay more respect to your master in the future, Chef Zhao is really a great person!”

Fu Yu nodded in agreement, deep down he had already regarded Zhao Meng as his godfather.

Mr. Fu didn’t forget to softly remind: ”Son, let’s keep your earnings within the family; no need to brag to Minghao. You know how prideful your aunt’s family is. Minghao finally got into a good university, but he switched majors on a whim and is now on break to study live-streaming.”

”Currently, Minghao’s monthly expenses are over 2,000 yuan, not even including tuition. Your aunt and her husband do earn well, but they can’t sustain this spending.”

”It’s enough for us to be happy with our life. I’m worried your aunt might feel unbalanced and scold Minghao, affecting your brotherly relationship. So, don’t mention it, okay?”

Fu Yu nodded: ”I understand, I won’t say anything.”

Mr. Fu discussed these matters without hiding them from Mrs. Fu.

The couple always discussed matters together, and Mrs. Fu agreed with Mr. Fu’s reasoning.

The family of three warmly chatted about Fu Yu’s past life and their dreams for the new house.

Mrs. Fu remembered something and said with a smile: ”Son, do you remember when you were little, you told your dad and me that when you grow up, you’ll get a wife, and have a kindergarten kid for me to take care of, so I could be a principal?”

Fu Yu felt a bit embarrassed as soon as he heard it.

He didn’t have any strong memory of the bold words he once said.

It was something he heard from his parents’ occasional teasing.

When Mrs. Fu was younger, she wanted to be a kindergarten teacher, but it didn’t happen.

Back then, little Fu Yu, with his sweet mouth, promised to give her many grandchildren, so she could be a kindergarten principal.
