The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

A dinner where both hosts and guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Luo Rang was outgoing by nature and was excellent at livening up the atmosphere.

The entire table of people was eating, drinking, and getting along very well.

Luo Rang was hosting the meal, so when ordering, he nearly went through every popular appetizer, and there were also several of the restaurant’s specialty cold platters.

The table was full of sumptuous dishes, and even though everyone tried their best to eat, there were still plenty of leftovers in the end.

Fu Yu hit it off with Luo Rang.

The two chatted a lot, about work, about cooking.

Perhaps because of their shared profession, Fu Yu found that he had a lot to talk about with Luo Rang, and Luo Rang had a great personality, was good at social interaction, and had a wealth of work experience.

Chatting with him was an interesting and insightful experience.

Once everyone was done eating, Luo Rang finally organized the leaving of the table.

Mrs. Fu, looking at the table full of leftovers, felt a bit regretful and, without thinking, said to the waiter who came in with the bill, ”Could you please pack these up?”

As soon as she spoke, everyone at the table was surprised.

Fu Yu hadn’t even thought of this matter.

He usually worked in the kitchen, and when there were rare gatherings, his colleagues were all strong and hearty, able to eat and drink a lot.

After every gathering, even if there was some packing up to do, it was usually taken care of by those colleagues who lived in the city.

He just didn’t have this concept.

Fu Yu’s family was average, not wealthy, but not so poor that they couldn’t put food on the table; life was stable and peaceful.

His parents were frugal all their lives, and in his memory, it seemed there had never been an occasion where the whole family deliberately went out to a restaurant to dine.

His parents always thought that eating out was both unhygienic and a waste of money; with that money, cooking at home by themselves was much better, economical, and affordable.

So now that Mrs. Fu suddenly proposed to pack up the food.

Fu Yu smiled awkwardly at Luo Rang.

It’s not that he found his parents’ behavior embarrassing, but since this meal was hosted by Luo Rang, yet his family ended up packing the leftovers, it felt a bit awkward.

Luo Rang also smiled and did not look down on them because of Mrs. Fu’s lack of understanding of etiquette, nor did he have any intent to mock or disdain them.

People of his age could most understand this kind of frugal and simple lifestyle of the previous generation.

Through conversation, Luo Rang had some understanding of Fu Yu’s family, knowing that his parents were ordinary people with ordinary jobs, earning meager wages, and worked hard to raise their son.

They might not have a lot of qualities or extensive knowledge; the elderly probably just felt that the food on the table was paid for, and since there was so much left over, it would be a waste to throw it away.

This is something entirely understandable.

Fu Yu whispered, ”Chef Luo, you’re welcome to come to Qianlima next time, and I’ll be the host to treat you.”

Fu Yu, seeing Luo Rang’s straightforward demeanor, felt quite appreciated, and his invitation was made very sincerely.

He didn’t mind covering for his parents’ actions.

And he was willing to genuinely connect with friends who treated his parents well.

The waiter soon brought over the takeaway boxes.

Fu Yu took them and helped his mom pack up the dishes that hadn’t been touched much.

Guo Xinyi watched this scene, a bit stunned...

This, they actually packed it up?

Watching as Fu Yu and his family picked up the takeaway bags, Luo Rang said with a smile, ”Let the kitchen pack some dipping sauce for you later. Although roasted lamb spine tastes good even cold, without the sauce, it won’t taste authentic.”

Guo Xinyi: ...

Is this really necessary?

This is all leftover food!

And wasn’t this meal hosted by Luo Rang?

Isn’t this embarrassing?

Luo Rang continued, ”Next time, when the opportunity arises, Uncle and Aunt can come again to try several other flavors of our lamb spine pot.”

Guo Xinyi’s expression changed again!

This is a bit too eager, isn’t it?

Fu Yu’s family seemed to be quite ordinary after all.

But Luo Rang’s attitude seemed a bit like he was trying to win them over.

Guo Xinyi couldn’t help but glance at Fu Yu.

Fu Yu was diligently helping his mom put the packed boxes into the bags.

Guo Xinyi frowned slightly!

She increasingly found Fu Yu harder to read.

Previously at the sales office, he had received the kind treatment of the sales manager.

Hearing from a friend of Luo Rang, it was mentioned that to have the sales manager personally attend to someone, that person had to be a direct relative or friend of the developer’s owner.

Clearly, Fu Yu had good connections!

And now, with Luo Rang having this attitude towards Fu Yu...

Could it be that Fu Yu is not just an ordinary chef?

Guo Xinyi pondered for a while, feeling increasingly uneasy.

Back in school, it was like this.

Relying on his good looks, just flirting around daily!

When she got interested, before she could make any move, Fu Yu patted his back and dropped out without a word.

If you’re not aiming for love, then flirting is just being a scoundrel!

Guo Xinyi thought indignantly, grinding her molars in frustration.

Fu Yu, having finished packing, picked up the bags and, looking up, saw Guo Xinyi giving him a malicious glare.

...

Fu Yu was stunned, What did I do?

Luo Rang personally sent Fu Yu’s family to the restaurant entrance and helped them hail a taxi.

”Auntie, Uncle, make sure to contact me next time you’re in Bei’an!”

Luo Rang waved with a smile.

Mr. and Mrs. Fu accepted with smiles, warmly saying goodbye.

Fu Yu said to Luo Rang, ”Thanks for the hospitality, let’s catch up sometime.”

Luo Rang nodded.

Fu Yu looked towards Guo Xinyi, ”Old classmate, goodbye!”

Guo Xinyi looked at Fu Yu with a complicated expression, a slightly stiff smile on her face, ”Goodbye!”

The taxi carrying Fu Yu’s family drove away, and Luo Rang turned and said, ”I had some drinks earlier, so I can’t drive, I’ll ride with you guys.”

Luo Yong quickly said, ”Sure, brother, let’s go straight home.”

Luo Rang nodded.

Today’s out to buy a house, and now the matter is settled, it’s just right to head home and share the good news.

Settling into the car.

Luo Yong, holding the steering wheel, said excitedly, ”Brother! Your friend really helped out a lot! I never expected to get such a big discount!”

Luo Rang leaned back into the car seat, smiling, ”Of course, I’ve been friends with her husband for many years.”

Luo Yong glanced at the rearview mirror, seeing his brother with his eyes closed resting, so he secretly held Guo Xinyi’s hand.

Guo Xinyi turned to look at Luo Yong, who, though not very handsome, had a distinct and angular face, sighed, and held Luo Yong’s hand in return.

Suddenly seeing her first love, a mutual secret crush, it might as well have been a romance.

In her heart, there truly was a bit of a ripple.

After all, Fu Yu was still as handsome, and now it seemed his job was great too.

Just a year out of college, and he could buy a house in Bei’an and settle down.

This person really was something.

The one she once admired now living so well.

In her heart, there’s this mixed feeling of unease.

Perhaps everyone has this sort of mentality somewhat.

Your former crush, living better than you.

Can Guo Xinyi stand it?!
