The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Fu Yu ordered the dishes with abandon.

Mrs. Fu looked at the prices on the menu, feeling her heart pound.

This wasn’t a meal, it was like eating money!

Just this table of dishes would cost more than two thousand yuan!

Seeing Fu Yu was about to order more, Mrs. Fu, not wanting to stop him in front of others, gently advised, ”That’s enough, who can eat this much!”

His aunt quickly chimed in, ”Right, that’s enough, if it’s not enough, we can order more later!”

Fu Yu chuckled and finally added two more specialty seafood barbecues.

As the waiter led them to the private room, Mrs. Fu couldn’t help but whisper, ”Why order so much? Each dish is so expensive!”

Fu Yu put an arm around his mom’s shoulder, ”Mom, I just want to treat you and Dad to a good meal. The dishes at our place are quite special, plus I’m an employee, so I get an internal price, it’s actually not that expensive.”

”I’m finally starting to earn money now, from now on, you and Dad can just enjoy life!”

Mrs. Fu was pained by the spending, but couldn’t help feeling a bit proud.

Their son was now capable of handling things on his own, and he could earn money to treat his family to dinner. As parents, they felt truly honored.

And judging by the looks of it, Fu Yu was doing quite well at work. The people in the restaurant respectfully called him Chef Fu, and extended their warmth to his family as well.

This finally settled the worries Mrs. Fu and Mr. Fu had been harboring in their hearts.

When the food was served, in addition to the dishes Fu Yu ordered, there was also an extra signature dish, the seafood platter.

Placed in the middle of the table, it took up nearly half the space.

The waiter cheerfully explained, ”Chef Zhao made this especially for you, it’s on the house!”

Mr. Fu and Mrs. Fu were overwhelmed by this hospitality.

What surprised them even more was when, midway through the meal, Zhao Meng took time out of his busy schedule to come over and gifted them with two bottles of fine wine.

The wine Zhao Meng brought wasn’t from the restaurant, but from his own collection of champagne.

”To pair with seafood, champagne is the authentic choice.”

Zhao Meng’s warm and friendly demeanor left a very good impression on Mr. and Mrs. Fu.

However, they politely refused to accept the wine.

Zhao Meng smiled and said, ”Don’t be so formal, we’re all family! I have more of this wine. If I weren’t needed in the kitchen, I’d stay and eat with you!”

Mr. and Mrs. Fu continued to decline, so Zhao Meng simply opened the bottle and shared a drink with Fu Yu’s parents and aunt’s family.

Mr. Fu happily and gratefully said, ”Chef Zhao, thank you. Our Fu Yu is here alone, we really appreciate your care for him, our entire family is especially grateful!”

Mrs. Fu added, ”That’s right, Fu Yu always tells us over the phone how good you are to him, it really sets our minds at ease!”

Zhao Meng smiled at Fu Yu, his eyes questioning: So you’ve been praising me behind my back?

Fu Yu chuckled and gave him a look: Absolutely!

Zhao Meng said, ”Fu Yu is a quick thinker, loves learning to cook, has solid skills, and is very dedicated when he takes an interest in something, always eager to delve deeper. He will definitely achieve great things in the future, you can rest assured!”

Mr. Fu said, ”Chef Zhao, your kindness to our son, his mother and I will always remember it.”

Zhao Meng smiled, ”No need to say it, my friend.”

Mr. Fu replied, ”No, it needs to be said! We must make things clear.”

”Fu Yu, your mentor is good to you, you must repay his kindness in the future!”

”Once a mentor, always like a father. However you show filial piety to me and your mother, you must do the same for your mentor!”

Fu Yu quickly said, ”Of course, in my heart, Chef Zhao is like my godfather!”

Zhao Meng laughed, revealing a set of neat white teeth, feeling very pleased inside.

Having such a good apprentice felt like having a precious little helper!

Feeling even closer, Zhao Meng thought of something and casually suggested, ”Fu Yu, since your parents are here, after your trip to Sifeng Mountain, why not check out some houses on Red Flag Avenue? Chef Yao mentioned earlier that he’s already reserved two houses for you there. You can check them out and decide which one you like. Your parents can help make a decision too.”

Fu Yu exclaimed in surprise, ”Really? They’re already reserved?”

Zhao Meng nodded with a smile, ”Yeah, there was originally a house on offer, but it wasn’t in a good location, so Chef Yao decided against it for you. I agree, if you’re going to buy a house, you should pick a good one. You can just go to the sales office and mention Chef Yao.”

Fu Yu responded quickly, ”Sure, I’ll take my parents to have a look.”

Mr. Fu: ”!”

Mrs. Fu: ”!”

How did it suddenly come to house-hunting?!

The couple exchanged a look, their expressions somewhat serious.

It wasn’t because of worries, but mainly because Fu Yu hadn’t mentioned anything about buying a house before, and suddenly he seemed eager.

Could there be something going on?

Is he in love?

Is he planning to get married?

Thinking even deeper, could it be that he’s rushing to buy a house because of an unexpected ”incident”?

...

With a lot of tasks waiting in the kitchen, Zhao Meng couldn’t stay long and, after saying a few words to Fu Yu’s family, hurried back.

After he left, Lin Minghao immediately said, ”The last time my brother took me here for a meal, his mentor also sent us several dishes. He’s really nice!”

Being treated kindly by Zhao Meng, Mr. and Mrs. Fu felt quite proud.

During dinner, they couldn’t help but talk about how Fu Yu had told them about all the support Zhao Meng had given him at work.

Fu Yu’s aunt and uncle listened with admiration.

Looking at the successful Fu Yu, then at their own son who was a constant worry, it really made them feel the comparison painfully.

Previously, seeing that Fu Yu hadn’t even finished high school and went to culinary school instead, they felt more sympathy towards their older sister and her husband.

A son who had been nurtured with so much effort ended up becoming a chef.

It seemed so pitiful and unfortunate.

With Fu Yu as a comparison, and looking at their own son, who was still stuck in a rebellious phase, capable of driving them mad.

The anger that had flared up in their hearts suddenly diminished a bit.

After all, at least their troublesome son had finished high school and gotten into university. It wasn’t all for nothing over the years.

When he graduates from university, he’ll find a decent job and give them some security in their old age.

But looking at things now.

So what if he became a chef?

In all walks of life, anyone can achieve greatness!

Fu Yu hadn’t graduated that long ago, and he already secured a formal position at Qianlima.

The scale and benefits of Qianlima, coupled with having an experienced chef personally mentor him as a successor—this job could be a lifelong, stable career!

And now, Fu Yu seemed to be on his way to buying a house, preparing to settle down in Bei’an!

Thinking this way, his aunt and uncle couldn’t help but look at Fu Yu differently.

See that!

Wow!!
