The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Zhao Meng’s birthday party was quite lively.

One head chef and two master chefs personally handled the barbecue.

The professional skills and the aroma of the grilled meat caught the eyes of nearby diners who were also there for a gathering.

As everyone was in high spirits, eating and drinking, Fu Yu brought out a custom three-tiered birthday cake.

When the box was opened, everyone was dazzled by the bright Cadillac model on top!

”This cake is so fancy!” Yao Shi laughed as he arranged the candles.

Zhao Meng laughed so hard he couldn’t close his mouth. He clapped Fu Yu on the shoulder and said, ”You, my friend, are really something! Alright! I’ll aim to change my car to this model in two years!”

The outdoor barbecue went on until the early hours, and the crowd dispersed reluctantly.

After heading home, Fu Yu lay in bed but couldn’t sleep despite tossing and turning.

On a whim, he suddenly recalled a few words Gu Yunwu said when guiding him to make medicinal pork trotters that evening.

At the time, it sounded profound, but upon reflection, it seemed very insightful.

Fu Yu decided he wouldn’t lie around and quickly got up from the bed. He pulled out the elective course schedule he had not chosen before.

He read through it carefully from start to finish.

To his surprise, there was indeed a medicinal cuisine course.

His parents were getting older; they were still in relatively good health, but starting dietary therapy early could do no harm.

And as for Zhao Meng, who looked robust, he was actually all show and no substance.

If Fu Yu learned to prepare medicinal cuisines, he could occasionally cook a small meal to improve Zhao Meng’s diet.

Without much hesitation, Fu Yu directly chose the medicinal cuisine course.

[Medicinal Cuisine: Under the guidance of theories from traditional Chinese medicine, culinary science, and nutrition science, medicinal cuisine is strictly made according to recipes, combining Chinese herbs with certain foods with medicinal value, using unique cooking techniques and modern scientific methods to create tasty dishes of distinct color, aroma, flavor, and shape.

”Medicine within food” means treating medicine as food while attributing medicinal properties to food, complementing each other and achieving a harmonious balance.]

Fu Yu was overjoyed; this medicinal cuisine course was indeed something special.

It felt as if learning to cook medicinal cuisines might even give him a bit of understanding in traditional Chinese medicine.

Fu Yu chose to learn, then took his room key, and stood in the corridor.

He locked the door, then unlocked it with the key to enter the room.

The moment he pushed open the door, Fu Yu paused mid-step, staring in disbelief at the simulated classroom that the system had set up for him.

A medicinal pharmacy’s herb selection area.

[Ding! The ”Medicinal Cuisine Course” practical teaching classroom has been opened. Please learn through the simulated space. Upon successful completion, receive the reward: advanced medicinal cuisine cooking skills.]

Obtaining advanced skills right away!

Awesome!

Fu Yu walked in and stood by the round table in front of the herb selection area. Instantly, all the contents of the medicinal cuisine course filled his mind.

[Medicinal Cuisine Course: Medicinal cuisine is neither the same as traditional Chinese herbal prescriptions nor ordinary food. It is a special diet that combines medicinal efficacy with food delicacy. It allows people to enjoy delicious food while nourishing their bodies and treating diseases.]

[Medicinal cuisine learning is divided into: Treating diseases (using medicinal cuisine primarily for treating diseases, combining medicine and food to assist in treatment, etc.), Wellness and health (nourishing diets, medicinal dishes with multiple health benefits, etc.), Craft characteristics...]

[First Lesson: Using medicinal cuisine primarily to treat diseases]

A previously empty round table suddenly displayed a mirror, gradually showing a line of words: [Shennong’s Materia Medica]

As Fu Yu read, the line disappeared, and new text began to appear:

[Shennong’s Materia Medica: The earliest monograph on pharmacology, containing 365 types of drugs, including about 50 medicinal foods such as sour jujube, mandarins, grapes... longan, crab, almond, peach kernel, etc., including grains, vegetables, insects, fish, poultry, and meat as ”food medicines,” and noting their effects of ”light body and longevity.”]

The quiet medicine cabinets on the wall suddenly began to open in sequence from top to bottom, left to right, with the herbs inside levitating and falling beside the round table in front of Fu Yu.

An electronic prompt sounded in Fu Yu’s ear:

[Sour Jujube: Origin (medicinal use of the seed kernel, with effects of nourishing the liver, calming the mind, tranquilizing, and stopping sweating, used to treat insomnia and other conditions.)

Chemical components (Sour jujube kernel mainly contains triterpene saponins, flavonoids, triterpenes, alkaloids, and also fatty oil, proteins, sterols, and trace volatile oils with irritant effects)

Scent (...]

Fu Yu picked up the sour jujube from the round table, marveling at the system’s precision in teaching.

They’ve now started using live instruction.

With real herbs as a reference, learning these dry topics didn’t seem so painful.

Besides, for some reason, every time Fu Yu entered the practical classroom, he felt as if his senses were sharpened and his memory amazing.

The knowledge he learned here seemed to be ingrained after just seeing or hearing it once.

A set of ten herbs.

Fu Yu carefully memorized all the properties of the herbs, observing the look and scent of each one before tasting them individually.

Once he finished learning, the electronic prompt sounded again in his ear:

[Ding! Please begin answering questions]

Fu Yu: ”!”

Damn it!

I hate exams the most!

Then, a test sheet appeared out of nowhere on the round table.

Fu Yu didn’t even need to write; as long as he read the question in his mind and answered, the content would instantly show up on the test sheet.

After answering each question, the correct answer would immediately display, accurately pointing out where he went wrong and providing precise suggestions on how to avoid making the same mistake again.

After going through it a few times.

After completing the test sheet, Fu Yu had a solid grasp of the effects of these ten herbs.

And once he had learned all the knowledge about the herbs and medicinal foods from the [Shennong’s Materia Medica].

New text appeared again on the round table:

[Ten Medicine Divine Books], [Zunsheng Bajian]...

Each set of books contained specialized recipes for medicinal meals, along with detailed cooking methods.

Fu Yu learned them all step by step.

[Nine Lessons of Health Medicinal Cuisine: Fattening Medicinal Cuisine, Beauty Medicinal Cuisine... Longevity Medicinal Cuisine, and Anti-disease and Anti-aging Medicinal Cuisine.]

Each one included dozens of methods for pairing herbs and ingredients.

Fu Yu felt like a sponge, continuously absorbing knowledge, while his brain remained in a state ready for exploration.

No matter how much knowledge, he could accept and grasp it.

This made him feel as if he was capable of anything.

So when more appeared one after another on the round table: [Shennong and Yellow Emperor’s Food Prohibition], [Huangdi’s Miscellaneous Dietary Taboos], [Dietary Recipes], [Dietary Classics]...

Fu Yu completely forgot that he initially hated studying more than anything else.

Instead, he enthusiastically learned by referencing real objects and answered the tests to verify his learning.

Unknowingly, he became immersed in learning.
