The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Yao Yihang looked at Fu Yu’s calm demeanor and couldn’t help but feel uneasy.

The disciplinary notice has already been issued, and yet he doesn’t seem worried at all?

Thinking about how Yao Shi was so protective of Fu Yu, Yao Yihang’s previously good mood was instantly diminished, feeling a wave of irritation.

Anyway, the disciplinary notice has been issued, and Jia Rundong is the front office manager, ranking higher than Yao Shi.

No matter how powerful Yao Shi is, can he go against Jia Rundong?

If these two get at each other’s throats, Yao Yihang bets on Jia Rundong winning.

After all, Gu Yunwu has said more than once that Dong Jun Tian’s most trusted person is Jia Rundong, otherwise, he wouldn’t have entrusted the store’s finances to him for management back then.

Thinking of this, Yao Yihang couldn’t help feeling a bit schadenfreude.

He couldn’t resist turning his head to glance at Fu Yu, who looked indifferent and was calmly cooking. Yao Yihang sneered coldly.

Pretend all you want!

Let’s see how long you can keep pretending!

The staff at the Qianlima Restaurant’s office work from eight to five.

It’s almost the National Day holiday.

Jia Rundong spent the entire afternoon busy preparing for the promotional activities.

He personally contacted the print shop to finalize the design of the advertising panels and searched online for customized gift options.

He instructed the procurement staff to prepare decorations like national flags in advance.

There were also meetings to be held separately for the cleaning and security staff.

By the time everything was done, it was already four-thirty.

The tea he brewed during lunchtime in the thermos cup had long gone cold.

He unscrewed the lid, took a sip, and was planning to check his phone when he vaguely heard the voice of the cashier, Su Hong, from the door opposite.

But with his door closed, he couldn’t hear clearly.

Less than half an hour until closing time.

Jia Rundong browsed through some news, contemplating calling home.

But before he could dial out, a call suddenly came in.

It was from the boss, Dong Jun Tian.

Jia Rundong quickly answered the call: ”Hello, boss.”

”Old Jia, come to my office right now!” Dong Jun Tian instructed briefly and directly hung up.

Jia Rundong was puzzled.

What’s with this tone, it doesn’t sound right?

Jia Rundong hurried over to Dong Jun Tian’s office.

At the door, Jia Rundong knocked and heard Dong Jun Tian say ”Come in,” then he pushed the door open and went in.

As soon as he entered, Jia Rundong immediately saw Yao Shi sitting calmly on the guest chair.

Meanwhile, Dong Jun Tian’s eyebrows were slightly furrowed, and his expression carried a hint of annoyance.

”Boss, you called me?”

Dong Jun Tian gestured for Jia Rundong to sit down and talk.

Jia Rundong sat on the guest chair next to Yao Shi, and looked at Dong Jun Tian sitting behind the desk.

Dong Jun Tian asked, ”I saw you posted a disciplinary notice in the work group? What’s that about?”

Upon hearing this, Jia Rundong quickly replied, ”Oh, when I went for an inspection yesterday, I found that Fu Yu was absent, and it was right during the busiest lunchtime. I originally planned to give him a fine as a warning, but he was very defiant, first refusing to take my call, and then when I called him over for a talk, he didn’t come.”

As Jia Rundong spoke, he couldn’t contain his anger.

”Actually, at first, as long as he sincerely admitted his mistake and assured me, I wouldn’t have really fined him. But he showed no remorse, was very uncooperative, and I felt that such an employee needs to be disciplined! Otherwise, if this bad atmosphere is encouraged, the management of our store will face great difficulties!”

”This is what you call killing the chicken to warn the monkeys! After all, there are quite a few long-time employees in the store who have a very slack work attitude usually!”

Yao Shi, listening on the side, was so angry that he almost laughed.

He turned to look at Jia Rundong and asked, ”Manager Jia, Fu Yu is one of our kitchen staff. Shouldn’t you have informed me before punishing him?”

Jia Rundong chuckled and said, ”Oh, I didn’t want to trouble you. Fu Yu is one of your kitchen staff, and if you had to punish him, with his stubborn nature, wouldn’t he just end up clashing with you? Let me be the bad guy for now, and later you can use this as a chance to criticize him, and perhaps he won’t dare to slack off again.”

Yao Shi looked at Jia Rundong, who seemed empathetic but actually hid a sense of pride, and snorted lightly, ”I really didn’t see it coming, that you punishing one of my excellent employees without distinction was for my sake.”

Jia Rundong quickly responded, ”Look at what you’re saying, what do you mean without distinction? I am being objective about the issue!”

Yao Shi coldly asked, ”What issue are you being objective about?”

Jia Rundong’s face also turned solemn, ”Isn’t it obvious! Let me ask you, wasn’t Fu Yu not working in the kitchen yesterday afternoon?”

Yao Shi nodded, ”Yes, he wasn’t there.”

Jia Rundong continued to ask, ”During working hours, if he is not at his post, isn’t that considered absenteeism?”

Yao Shi sneered, ”Oh, so just because he wasn’t at his post during working hours, it’s absenteeism?”

Jia Rundong frowned, ”That’s right! What’s the matter?”

Yao Shi said, ”Just because Fu Yu wasn’t at his post during working hours, you deemed it absenteeism and decided to discipline him. But did you investigate why he was absent?”

Jia Rundong was surprised, ”Why?”

Yao Shi angrily slapped the table, ”Because Fu Yu received a temporary on-site service order yesterday afternoon! I personally reported this to the finance department! Manager Jia, I’ve worked here for so many years and I’ve never heard that kitchen staff going out for on-site services can be defined as absenteeism, not only having their wages docked but also losing their year-end bonus!”

”Isn’t this punishment a bit too harsh? I remember back in April, Jiang Qingrong was absent for most of the day and only received a verbal warning.”

This time, Yao Shi didn’t look at Jia Rundong but turned to ask Dong Jun Tian, ”Boss, I can understand favoritism, but can you at least give me an explanation for confusing public and private interests?”

Jiang Qingrong is the chef in charge at the cafeteria, initially arranged there through the relationship between Jia Rundong and Dong Jun Tian.

In the beginning, they were only said to be neighbors and acquaintances.

It wasn’t until more than a year later that everyone realized they were actually uncle and nephew.

It’s just that one is from an elder generation and their age gap isn’t significant, so no one made the connection at first.

Jia Rundong was stunned, ”What? You’re saying Fu Yu was out for an on-site service yesterday?”

When he went to say that Fu Yu was to be disciplined, the finance staff didn’t mention a word about this!

But immediately, Jia Rundong realized.

Today, the accountant Xin Li is off, and Su Hong, the cashier, is handling affairs.

Financial matters are usually handled by Xin Li, so Su Hong probably wasn’t aware of this.

But since he issued the instructions, Su Hong should have contacted Xin Li to report back, so why didn’t she mention it at all?

What is going on?
