The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 594: Chapter 593: Smiling Even in My Dreams

It’s Xia Xiaozhe who’s steady. He stopped the clamorous Xia Xinxin and said gently, ”Sister Wenjin, this matter is a long story. If you’re interested, I can tell you everything!”

Everyone had already come to her home, could she say she wasn’t interested?

Xia Wenjin readily replied, ”Please, go ahead!” and adopted a listening posture.

Xia Xiaozhe said, ”My father and your father are biological brothers. My father is the second oldest, and your father is the third.”

Xia Wenjin had to politely interrupt, ”Well, my father doesn’t seem to have any biological brothers.” From as far back as she can remember, she knew that her father only had sworn brothers and no blood brothers.

Xia Xiaozhe nodded and said, ”I understand what you’re saying. According to my father, when they were very young, during a visit to their hometown for ancestral rites, they were robbed by a group of bandits. It was a dire situation. The steward took him and his younger brother into the woods, and the steward went outside to divert the bandits, allowing them to escape danger. They didn’t know how far they ran, both were exhausted and hungry. My father asked his brother to wait for him there while he went to find food. But when my father came back, the place was already empty. Later on, my father was adopted by a private tutor, and he succeeded brilliantly but kept searching for his lost brother.”

Xia Wenjin felt like she was hearing an unbelievable story and asked, ”After so many years, there are so many people with the surname Xia. How can your father be sure that my father is his lost brother?”

If her father had experienced such a calamity as a child, finding his only elder brother would have been his greatest wish, but she seemed to have never heard her father mention it.

Her father also had a certain identity and status in the Jianghu. If he wanted to find someone, it wouldn’t be too difficult.

Xia Xinxin said, ”Of course, your father’s surname is Xia, and he’s called Xia Wanqing. My father’s younger brother was named Xia Wanqing too!”

Xia Wenjin twitched her mouth, ”There are many people in the world with the same name and surname; this doesn’t seem like a reason for confirmation, does it?”

”That’s precisely why we’re here today,” he said enthusiastically, ”My father is eager to find his brother but he is a cautious person. You can see that from me.”

Xia Wenjin: ”...”

Why did it feel so frivolous to her? ℴ

To strengthen his persuasion, Xia Xinxin added, ”My father had seen your father from afar and said he resembles our deceased grandfather very much. If they weren’t relatives, how could they look so alike? Once your father comes out, we can do a blood test and then we’ll be family!”

Seeing Xia Xinxin’s enthusiasm, Xia Wenjin didn’t want to dampen his spirits. However, if this matter was true, it would indeed be a good thing.

At least her father still has brothers, another relative in this world.

Xia Xiaozhe said, ”Sister Wenjin, are you going to pick up Third Uncle? Let’s go together!”

After hesitating for a moment, Xia Wenjin said, ”Alright!”

Xia Xinxin, being lively, exclaimed happily, ”Our carriage is outside. Sister, why don’t you ride with us?”

The blood ties hadn’t been confirmed yet, but he was already calling her sister with such affection.

Xia Wenjin said, ”No need, the carriage seats three people comfortably, but four might be cramped, especially once we pick up my father. I’ve had Old Liang prepare another carriage.”

Xia Xinxin looked at Xia Wenjin, liking her more the more he saw her. His father only had him and his brother, no sisters. Now suddenly having a beautiful sister felt like a dream, even one that he would laugh himself awake from.

That brat Zhao Hua, with a pretty sister, wouldn’t he always show off because of that? Now he too had a beautiful sister, and his sister was prettier than Zhao Hua’s sister!

The execution notice was removed and replaced with another. The case was rejudged, and Xia Wanqing was released innocent. Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin, despite their act of bravery, handled the situation improperly. Being captains of the Capital Guard, they took a hostage, not intentionally, but they caused the death of Zhan Baoqing and must be punished, heavily beaten ten times, and jailed for ten days!

Gan Jinming, for revenge killing, maliciously implicated the innocent, behaved unscrupulously, must pay with his life, sentenced to execution!

Vice Commander Song Chang of the Imperial Guard, instructed Dunwu Captain Cai Shilin to fabricate evidence, falsely accusing innocents, Song Chang is dismissed from the Vice Commander position, Cai Shilin is dismissed from the Captain position, both are heavily beaten twenty times to set an example!

At last, the truth is revealed.

However, Xia Wenjin knew that above Song Chang, there must be someone else.

A Vice Commander of the Imperial Guard had no reason to have a dispute with two minor Third Class Captains unless instructed by someone.

But the investigation ended here, perhaps due to insufficient evidence or for the sake of peace, but now overall, Xia Wanqing and the others were wronged, someone who was to be executed at noon was released innocent, their efforts bore fruit, yet they couldn’t pursue the true mastermind further.

Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin indeed were somewhat related to the death of Zhan Baoqing. To satisfy the anger of the Duke of England, punishment and imprisonment were inevitable, and this was already considered the lightest penalty.

Initially, it was expected that Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin would endure some physical suffering and then be released, but unexpectedly, they had to be jailed for ten days.

Xia Wenjin went to find Wen Yuanting and Wen Yuanting smiled bitterly, ”Young lady, the law is unforgiving, and this is already the best outcome now. If Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin weren’t punished, even if released, the Duke Mansion’s anger would remain unresolved, leading to more troubles!”

This was indeed a sincere statement. Wen Yuanting treated Xia Wenjin with respect, not only because he saw Xia Xiaozhe and Xia Xinxin standing behind her, but also due to the courage she displayed in ringing the Injustice Bell for her father and her capabilities.

The evidence she provided was so comprehensive that Wen Yuanting considered even if he sent people to gather it, they might not have gathered it so thoroughly. Now having the two young masters from the Prime Minister Xia’s family with her, it proved that this young lady was not simple!

Xia Wenjin understood that what Wen Yuanting said was indeed from the heart. She apologized to Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin, ”Second Uncle, Third Uncle, you’ll have to suffer some hardship after all.”

Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin had heard Wen Yuanting’s words and said to Xia Wenjin, ”Little Jin, the outcome now is already good. We nearly lost our heads. Now, it’s just a few beatings and a few days in jail; our lives have been spared!”

The two were taken away, to be executed with the rod before being jailed.

Xia Wenjin took out homemade antiseptic medicine and asked Wen Yuanting, ”Mr. Wen, could you please apply this medicine on my uncles after their punishment with the rods?”

Wen Yuanting took it and said, ”Sure!”

”Thank you, sir!”

By this time, the trial was over, no longer being held in the public courtroom, and the Xia brothers also bowed to Wen Yuanting.

They were young masters of the Right Minister’s family, so Wen Yuanting naturally returned the courtesy, although he was very curious about why these two young masters were interested in this case.
