The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 591: Chapter 590: Truly Loyal

Cui Huai clasped his fists in salute and said, ”You three gentlemen, take your time, we shall take our leave first!”

Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin returned the gesture and exchanged pleasantries. Cui Huai then laughed and said, ”Mr. Hua, Mr. Gu, my young master said you two are loyal beyond words, all these matters are misunderstandings. Once you’re out tomorrow, the grievances you’ve suffered must be addressed at Lord Pei of the Capital Guard!”

Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin were quite surprised and said, ”Did the Second Young Master really say that?”

In the Capital Guard, they were merely small Third Class Captains, holding low ranks, with little chance to meet the Commander. Although wronged this time, it was due to their initial act of chivalry that caused such trouble. It was indeed stifling. They were ready to swallow this grievance. Would the Second Young Master truly seek justice for them?

Why else would one say the Second Young Master is righteous?

Fortunately, he’s a relative!

However, the two exchanged a glance and thought of Huangfu Jingchen, who had accompanied Xia Wenjin previously, feeling that things seemed a bit complicated. Someone was prying at the Second Young Master’s corner!

They needed to find an opportunity to remind the Second Young Master; better marry off the Jin girl soon. Once married, things would settle, and others couldn’t pry her away!

Hong Jie said, ”Of course, the Second Young Master said you three are his elders, having suffered such grievances, if he doesn’t stand up for you, who will? So he must take charge of this matter!”

Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin were moved, repeatedly asking Cui Huai and Hong Jie to convey their gratitude!

Seeing the two off and looking at the full table of dishes, they felt the Second Young Master was indeed righteous.

The Second Young Master treated them with sincerity; they would surely repay it in the future!

On the other side, after Cui Huai and Hong Jie left, the prison guard locked the door again, not caring about them drinking and eating inside.

Outside, Hong Jie sneered, ”What sort of people are these? Just Jianghu riffraffs, how are they deserving of being called uncle by the Second Young Master? And they even made us send so much food and wine over!”

The Young Master originally planned to host a feast for Prince Cheng’s Heir that evening; the food and wine were prepared ahead of time. But since Prince Cheng’s Heir declined the invitation, naturally there was no need for the Young Master to attend either. So he had them pack up the food and send it to the prison, intending to win over these three from Haotian Village anyway.

Cui Huai glanced at him, ”Are you looking to get yourself into trouble with your words again? The Second Young Master is someone who does big things, and he will have many talents around him. Anyone he values must be useful. The Second Young Master is sincerely winning them over, don’t mess up the Second Young Master’s plans, else you won’t bear the consequence if he blames you!”

Hong Jie snickered, ”I know, I was just saying it to you, wasn’t I? In front of them, I was courteous and gave them no reason to find fault with the Second Young Master!”

Cui Huai said, ”You are still talking! Why did you kick the dish on the ground? Although the food was simple, it was a rare treat for those in confinement! Moreover, you didn’t know who sent it, yet you dared to do that. Luckily, they appreciated the Young Master’s kindness and didn’t hold it against us. Otherwise, you would have had to go and accept punishment from the Young Master!”

Hong Jie scratched his head, ”How could it be that serious? Besides, the Young Master sent the signature dishes from Minghe Pavilion. With the Young Master’s precious offerings before them, why would they need those cold leftovers? I was just trying to make them remember the Young Master’s kindness more!”

”Enough with the quibbling. Be careful how you act in the future; the Young Master doesn’t like people who act on their own. Those by his side should be more obedient and follow the rules to live longer. Don’t forget how Qi Lin died!”

Hearing this, Hong Jie couldn’t help but shrink his neck.

Previously, the most valued person by the Young Master was someone named Qi Lin. At that time, the Second Young Master heavily relied on him. Yet once, Qi Lin acted on his own initiative. Although it didn’t result in serious consequences, it roused the Young Master’s wrath, leading to his immediate execution. Otherwise, Cui Huai and Hong Jie wouldn’t have had their current positions beside the Young Master.

On the carriage, Xia Wenjin looked at Huangfu Jingchen, ”Are you still staying at the same place? Shall I send you back first?”

Huangfu Jingchen knew she was referring to the residence he later bought. He hadn’t stayed there for days, and it wasn’t in the direction of where Xia Wenjin lived. He said, ”I’ll send you back first! It’s just right so we can talk on the way!”

Xia Wenjin knew there were some doubts in his heart. Though they had already expressed their feelings to each other, some things still needed to be clarified. She said, ”Alright!”

He lifted the curtain and called out, ”Uncle Liang, head straight back!”

The driver responded, cracked the whip, and the carriage sped towards Xia Mansion.

Xia Wenjin looked at Huangfu Jingchen and asked, ”Is there something you want to ask me?”

Huangfu Jingchen paused, then carefully asked, ”Is the person you’re engaged to Huangfu Yuxuan from Prince Liang Mansion?”

Xia Wenjin responded seriously, ”We don’t count as being engaged because I never agreed to the marriage. This matter was a mistake, riddled with misunderstandings! But I will resolve it!”

Huangfu Jingchen said, ”Can you tell me in detail? What is the situation? How did you two get engaged, and why did you run away from the marriage?”

Xia Wenjin said, ”I don’t mind telling you, it started a year ago. Back then, I was a carefree little girl in the mountains, strong-willed and stubborn. One time, I fell off a horse and remained unconscious for half a month with no effect from any medicine. In desperation, my father sought a blind fortune teller in the town below for a reading. The fortune teller said my condition required a happy occasion to cure me! So, my father went down the mountain and spent a lot of money to find me a husband. However, those who came for the reward didn’t have a compatible horoscope with me. When my father grew anxious, Huangfu Yuxuan appeared. He not only agreed to marry me, but the fortune teller also said our horoscopes were a heavenly match! Hence, my father decided he was his son-in-law. However, when my father brought him up the mountain, I happened to wake up. Upon learning of this matter, I naturally refused, arguing with my father. My father, who always indulged and loved me, wouldn’t relent this time! With no choice left, I had to flee the marriage and leave the village!”

Huangfu Jingchen: ”...”

So that’s how it happened!

Xia Wenjin looked at the young man’s silent eyes and asked, ”Don’t you have anything to say?”

Huangfu Jingchen lifted his head, looked into the girl’s clear eyes, and said awkwardly, ”Is it true that his and your horoscopes are a heavenly match?”

Xia Wenjin smiled slightly, ”I don’t believe in horoscopes, and I don’t believe in fate either. I only believe in myself! No matter how matched the horoscopes are, if I don’t like it, I won’t marry!”

Huangfu Jingchen felt a surge of joy, his mind suddenly becoming lively. He said, ”There are three points of suspicion in this matter!”

Xia Wenjin’s eyes sparkled with interest as she said, ”Then tell me, what are the three points of suspicion?”
