The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 585: Chapter 584: Conflicted

Huangfu Jingchen was very happy; in Wenjing’s gaze, he finally felt a different kind of affection. This time Wenjin did not evade; although she eventually shifted her gaze in a bit of panic, her eyes told him she should have him in her heart as well.

Does this mean that Wenjin has finally accepted him?

He couldn’t help but step forward, speaking softly: ”Whenever I want to find you, I will find you! Wenjin, in the future, if anything happens, I hope you will think of me. I can help you, and I’m very willing to help you!”

Xia Wenjin lifted her head, her gaze locking with the young man’s eyes.

The young man’s eyes were clear, sincere and deep, filled with tenderness.

In the past life, she heard too many sweet words, but she felt none could touch her as deeply as the gaze of the young man at this moment.

Only through contrast did she realize that the person who spoke sweet words so easily had calculation in his eyes, a slight sense of detachment, or perhaps perfunctory.

Yet in front of her, the young man’s eyes weren’t clouded with so many emotions. So clean, sincere! Nothing else was in them.

Xia Wenjin felt as if the fortress in her heart had been heavily struck, instantly collapsing, overflowing with tenderness.

She thought she wouldn’t love again; her heart wouldn’t house another person. But now, the young man forcefully entered her heart.

In fact, she should have noticed earlier. Upon returning home, when she wanted to share with someone, why was it Huang Zheng! Perhaps, unknowingly, her heart had long accepted him, and she didn’t realize it?

Within Xia Wenjin’s eyes were traces of bewilderment, confusion, and emotion... At first, Huangfu Jingchen was also a bit nervous, but seeing all those emotions turn into a blush on her face, he was overjoyed and extended his hand to hold Xia Wenjin’s. He softly said, ”Wenjin, no matter what happens in the future, I’ll always be with you! Is that okay?”

The young man’s emotions were intense; Yunzhou received the imperial order to enter the capital. He was very unwilling; he feared he would never see Wenjin again.

But the imperial decree was hard to resist. As an elder brother, he couldn’t let his younger brother bear those responsibilities, hence he had to part with pain.

Unexpectedly, fate was kind to him. Arriving in the capital, he could still see Wenjin.

He also felt guilty, for at a life-or-death moment, Wenjin saved his life regardless of the risk, pulling him back from the brink of death. That was giving him a lifeline!

However, when Wenjin was in trouble, he didn’t know.

When he found out, Wenjin had already dealt with the matter. He was at most just a complement!

He felt useless.

In the future, he’ll devote all his heart to protect the woman in front of him; she’s the woman he thinks of, yearns for!

Xia Wenjin instinctively nodded. Her cheeks flushed, and her clear gaze carried a hint of bewilderment, but soon it became clear again. Understanding her heart became clear; she no longer hesitated and said, ”Alright!” ℯℯ𝑙.

Huangfu Jingchen was ecstatic. After so long, he finally received an affirmative promise from Wenjin. Wenjin had finally accepted him!

Happily, he picked up Xia Wenjin, spun her around, and joyfully exclaimed, ”Wenjin, I’m so happy! You finally agreed to me, you finally want to be with me!”

Xia Wenjin felt weightless, as if flying; the young man took her flying, and a happy smile appeared on her face.

Finally, the young man set her down, still holding her and unwilling to let go.

Xia Wenjin was also in high spirits, saying, ”Once things here are settled, I will convince my father to leave. Let’s both leave the capital city!”

She faced her heart; since he was in it, and she promised him, she began seriously planning the future!

Huangfu Jingchen was somewhat puzzled. He remembered previously in Yunzhou when talking about the capital, she showed deep hostility and hatred, a deep dislike for the capital.

But she was the precious daughter of Haotian Village, having escaped marriage and come to Jianghu, never having been to the capital!

Curiously, he asked, ”Wenjin, you don’t like the capital city?”

Xia Wenjin frankly nodded: ”My biggest wish in this life is to stay away from the capital, to live a simple and peaceful life. There are too many nobles in the capital. Just walking on the street, you can casually run into an imperial family member. I don’t want any interaction with such people!”

Huangfu Jingchen’s heart suddenly skipped a beat: ”You don’t like the imperial family members?”

Imperial family members—seemingly, he is one too!

Xia Wenjin softly said: ”It’s not about liking or disliking. But I prefer being a free person of Jianghu, not wanting any connection with imperial power!”

Huangfu Jingchen: ”...”

Xia Wenjin looked up at him, half-jokingly said: ”Do you know why I escaped marriage? Because my father wanted me to marry an imperial grandson. I don’t want riches, nor power and status, staying away from imperial power and government, away from the capital’s power center. That’s the life I want!”

Huangfu Jingchen: ”...”

He opened his mouth, realizing he didn’t know what to say. Never had he felt so lost for words.

He uneasily said: ”So, you dislike power, and thus imperial grandson?”

Xia Wenjin laughed: ”No!” She seriously said, ”I hate power, hate imperial grandson!”

Huangfu Jingchen: ”...”

Xia Wenjin glanced at him, laughed: ”Huang Zheng, I know your family’s status isn’t weak, probably born wealthy, but you’re from Yunzhou, not a capital person, and your surname is Huang, so you wouldn’t be related to the imperial family! If you really had ties to the imperial family, I wouldn’t dare promise you!”

She was very confident; Yunzhou’s only connection with the imperial family was Cheng Prince Mansion.

She remembered clearly from the past; Prince Cheng had only one son and one daughter. Crown Prince Huangfu Haichen was younger than her age, so she never thought of Huang Zheng from Yunzhou having any connection with Cheng Prince Mansion!

Huangfu Jingchen felt a bitter taste; he didn’t know what to say.

He could tell Xia Wenjin was speaking from the heart; she truly didn’t want to stay in the capital city or have any ties with the imperial family members.

While roaming Jianghu, he used an alias, making Xia Wenjin think his surname was Huang.

He was born in Yunzhou because Cheng Prince Mansion was located in Yunzhou.

But how should he explain?

If he explained the truth now, Wenjin would surely evade again, leaving him.

If he didn’t clarify the truth, his identity as Prince Cheng’s Heir wouldn’t stay hidden forever. After all, the assassination attempt on the street was so public; during this time, Wenjin’s heart was preoccupied with Chief Xia’s affairs, and she hadn’t considered much. Once she recovered, with her intelligence, she’d likely quickly guess he was the surviving heir who had survived the assassination.

Huangfu Jingchen felt conflicted; should he speak up or stay silent?
