The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 578: Chapter 577: Something Crazy

Xia Sichen stood up and walked out, saying, ”Treat my sister well, otherwise, even as a ghost, I won’t let you off!”

Huangfu Jingchen grabbed him and said, ”Brother Sichen, things haven’t reached that point yet!”

Xia Sichen smirked slightly, ”Then where do you think it’s at?”

Huangfu Jingchen was silent for a moment. Indeed, things had reached a point where they could hardly get worse. After thinking about it, he said, ”If it really comes to that, count me in!”

Xia Sichen looked at him unexpectedly and asked, ”Are you serious? Do you know the consequences?”

Huangfu Jingchen replied, ”It’s just a life! This life of mine was originally saved by Wenjin; even if I lose it, it’s no big deal!”

Xia Sichen said, ”If I’m not mistaken, your family is extraordinary, born into wealth! Even if Wenjin saved you, it’s part of your fate, not to the point requiring you to repay with your life!”

Huangfu Jingchen earnestly replied, ”I’ve already investigated this matter to some extent. Time is lacking, but I still know that Uncle Xia was framed. If he were truly guilty, I’d have nothing to say. But since he’s innocent, how can I calmly watch him die unjustly? Wenjin probably won’t be happy for a lifetime. I’m doing what I can, not to repay with my life but for peace of mind!”

”Aren’t you afraid this will drag your family into it?”

”In life, how can one not do a few crazy things? My family? It can’t be dragged down!” Huangfu Jingchen said, ”But if you really want to do this, you need a detailed plan. Why don’t we discuss it first?”

Xia Sichen gave Huangfu Jingchen a strange look. It was unclear if the look contained comfort, admiration, or speechlessness. Finally, he gave Huangfu Jingchen a heavy pat on the shoulder and said, ”Forget about this matter!”

”Why?” Huangfu Jingchen asked in confusion, ”Since you’re planning to do it, having more people gives more strength!”

Xia Sichen’s face darkened, ”Did you forget what I just told you? I entrusted my sister to you, and you tell me more people means more strength? Such strength won’t make much difference whether you’re involved or not. But I only have one sister, and that’s what’s most important in my heart.”

Huangfu Jingchen: ”...”

Xia Sichen smiled at him, ”Besides, maybe things haven’t reached that stage. Let’s see how things go this afternoon! Also, no matter what, don’t tell my sister!”

He walked out of the room, vigorous and agile like an eagle, not at all like someone who had just taken fifty strokes.

Huangfu Jingchen watched his back. When he said to count him in, it wasn’t just words; if things really got to that point, he would do it!

As for whether this is Grandpa’s Nanxia, the laws of Nanxia?

So what?

If the law is merciless, and someone really tests it with their life, he has nothing to say. But if the law is unjust, and justice is blinded, then he will act in his own way!

Wenjin certainly wouldn’t want to see her brother come to harm, so he would participate and make things as perfect as possible.

Xia Wenjin called the kitchen to prepare some food and brought it in, only to find Huangfu Jingchen was there alone.

She asked, ”Where’s my brother?”

Huangfu Jingchen replied, ”He had something to do and left first!”

Xia Wenjin was stunned for a moment, ”Let him be!”

Huangfu Jingchen glanced at her. Her expression was so calm; perhaps she already guessed what Xia Sichen was going to do?

Xia Wenjin, however, avoided his gaze and said, ”Huang Zheng, thank you for helping my brother with his medicine. You’ve been out for a while; you should go back now. I have some matters to attend to, so I won’t keep you.”

Huangfu Jingchen heard her implicitly asking him to leave and knew she was worried about Xia Wanqing’s case.

A bite from a scoundrel sinks to the bone; Xia Wanqing was a typical victim of such a bite. It’s difficult to overturn the verdict, especially considering that Gan Jinming clearly isn’t a good person. He won’t easily relent in what he’s doing.

And those conveniently timed ”witnesses” further supported Gan Jinming’s words.

Right now, Wenjin is not in a mood to talk to him about anything. He said, ”Alright, don’t worry too much. Justice will be served! Uncle Xia will be fine!”

”Thank you!” Xia Wenjin smiled at him. Although she was heavy-hearted, her thanks were sincere. When he stood up to take her place in punishment, such protection warmed her heart.

However, tomorrow was the day of her father’s life or death. This protection warmed her heart, but she couldn’t afford the distraction.

Although she had planned things out fairly well, nobody knew what problems might arise with the trial in the afternoon. Who knew if the mastermind behind it would interfere or how sinister his methods might be? Xia Wenjin did not know either.

After all, the news of the Injustice Bell must have already spread, and that mastermind certainly wouldn’t sit idle.

Since Xia Sichen left, Xia Wenjin didn’t seek him out again. After sending off Huangfu Jingchen, she quickly left the residence to prepare for the upcoming events.

Huangfu Jingchen returned to Cheng Prince Mansion.

Seeing her son return thoughtfully, Lu Qianxue asked, ”Why did you come back alone? How did things go?”

Facing his worried mother’s gaze, Huangfu Jingchen hesitated, then suddenly asked, ”Mother, if your son were to do something crazy that would affect father and you, that would affect Cheng Prince Mansion, and might even cause father to lose the title of Prince Cheng, and end up being questioned by Grandfather, but your son still had to do it, would you still accept me as your son?”

Before Lu Qianxue could answer, a bold voice interjected, ”What could be so serious, is the sky about to fall?”

Huangfu Jingchen said, ”For instance, rescuing someone from the execution ground!”

Lu Qianxue raised her eyebrows and smiled, ”I thought it was something big, but rescuing someone from the execution ground sounds good, count me in!”

Huangfu Jingchen: ”...”

Prince Cheng: ”...”

Prince Cheng turned to Huangfu Jingchen and said, ”Rescuing from the execution ground is not easy; it’s fraught with difficulties. One wrong move and not only will we fail, but we might get ourselves into trouble. Can you tell me why you want to rescue someone from the execution ground, and who you’re aiming to rescue?”

Before Huangfu Jingchen could speak, Lu Qianxue rolled her eyes at him, ”Isn’t it obvious? Since you arrived in the Capital City, you are completely out of touch with the news. Tomorrow, the ones to be executed are the three Village Chiefs of Haotian Village! If Chen’er wants to rescue someone, it must be related to them. By the way, Chen’er, when did you get involved with the Village Chiefs of Haotian Village?”

Huangfu Jingchen hesitated for a moment, then said, ”Chief Xia’s daughter is my friend, and I’ve investigated; Chief Xia was framed!”

Prince Cheng and Lu Qianxue exchanged a glance. Lu Qianxue smiled with raised eyebrows, ”Isn’t it just rescuing someone from the execution ground? Don’t worry, go ahead boldly; whether your father keeps the title of Prince Cheng doesn’t matter. At worst, we’ll all just move back to Yunzhou, since the Capital City is full of filth and we don’t want to stay here any longer!”
