The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 579: Chapter 578: Eager to Try

Prince Cheng agreed, ”Yes, yes, yes, what’s the worry about a mere prince? Didn’t your mother say? If the sky falls, we’re here. Just go boldly and do it!”

Huangfu Jingchen hadn’t expected his parents to have such an attitude, he was a bit bewildered, yet his heart felt warm, and he nodded firmly.

Lu Qianxue patted him on the shoulder and said earnestly, ”Son, if there’s a girl in this world you want to treat well, don’t hesitate, act according to your wishes, don’t let your life be filled with regrets!”

Prince Cheng nodded in agreement, ”Right, right, right, what your mother said is the truth. Son, do you have enough people to storm the execution ground? If not, take some from your father! If you need Silver, just say the word, take it from your father.”

Huangfu Jingchen said, ”Perhaps things won’t reach that stage. Besides, even if it comes to that, I am confident I can handle it!”

”Mm, alright! As I said before, if the sky falls, your father and mother are here, you don’t need to worry about anything! If you’re in trouble, tell your mother, she’ll help you!” Lu Qianxue wasn’t worried at all about the consequences of storming the execution ground, instead, she seemed somewhat eager to try.

Prince Cheng quickly took her hand and said to Huangfu Jingchen, ”This is our son’s matter, let’s not steal his thunder.”

Lu Qianxue also said, ”Chen’er, after this is over, you must remember to bring that girl to see your father and mother early!”

Huangfu Jingchen bowed deeply, ”Father, Mother, I remember, I will handle this matter properly! Now, I have some things to do, you two take care!”

Watching their son leave, Prince Cheng and Lu Qianxue exchanged a smile, Prince Cheng said, ”Like me!”

He too had caused an uproar throughout the Capital City for Lu Qianxue back in the day, and now their son was going to storm the execution ground for a girl, wasn’t he just like him?

Lu Qianxue’s focus was different, she said with curious inquiry, ”Speaking of which, we haven’t even met that girl yet, but I believe in our son’s judgment. When do you think he can bring that girl to meet us?”

Prince Cheng laughed, ”Why rush? We’ll meet her sooner or later!”

Lu Qianxue said, ”No! Chen’er is just a young kid, storming the execution ground is too big a matter, I need to think it over.”

Prince Cheng also said, ”Right, we have to ensure everything is foolproof, after all, they are our future in-laws! But since our son doesn’t want us to intervene, we’ll just secretly watch. We’ll step in only when needed!”

Huangfu Jingchen was about to leave the mansion when Uncle Chen called to him, ”Princely Heir, there’s a message from the palace. The Emperor summons you for an audience.”

If he could find a way to secure a Holy Decree from his Grandfather, or avoid reaching the point of storming the execution ground, it wasn’t that he feared the consequences, but storming the execution ground would violate the law. If he really did that, Xia Wanqing, Xia Sichen, and even the entire Haotian Village wouldn’t be able to live under the sun anymore.

They would be hunted by the whole Nanxia, it was the last resort, something to be done out of desperation. But if there’s another way, efforts should be made. Be prepared with two approaches, if no Holy Decree can be secured, then it could only be resolved at the execution ground.

Huangfu Jingchen said, ”Prepare the carriage, I’m going to the palace!”

In the afternoon, at the beginning of the period from 3-5 pm.

The Capital City Government Office opened the court to try the case. ℯ

As it was a rare occasion for the Injustice Bell to be rung, many people spread the news, and the crowd watching the excitement doubled from the morning, making the entrance completely packed.

The people from the Duke of England Mansion were also present. King Kang’s words, seemingly nonsensical, planted doubts in the Duke of England’s heart. He wanted to see the real outcome, so he instructed the housekeeper to watch the whole process.

Wen Yuanting had already completed all the procedures, and the accused had been brought in.

Hua Yuanming, Gu Hongxin, and Gan Jinming, originally imprisoned in the Ministry of Justice, were now brought to the Capital Governor’s prison.

Not everyone dared to strike the Injustice Bell, but if it was struck, not even the Junior Minister of the Ministry of Justice or the Vice Commander of the Imperial Guard could stop it.

”Court is in session!”

With Wen Yuanting’s majestic voice, government officials lined up in two rows, and in one side’s position, there was a special person. That person was Tang Jinlin, the Minister of the Ministry of Justice.

Due to someone ringing the Injustice Bell in the Capital Governor’s office, the scheduled time Wen Yuanting and Tang Jinlin agreed upon had to be canceled, but after hearing about this matter, Tang Jinlin also came to listen in.

Xia Wenjin arrived early, as she was the one who had struck the Injustice Bell.

The plaintiff for the entire case was the Duke of England Mansion.

And the cause of the case was due to Gan Jinming, so the first to be tried was Gan Jinming.

Gan Jinming was brought in, he appeared haggard, his face ashen, hair in disarray, originally just a young man in his twenties, but now suddenly looked like he was in his forties.

His expression was wooden as he knelt down, bowing to the ground, his figure hunched.

Wen Yuanting looked stern, his gaze sharp, sweeping over Gan Jinming below the court, he said solemnly, ”Gan Jinming, has your identity been verified?”

The prison officer said, ”It has been verified!”

Wen Yuanting said, ”Gan Jinming, why did you collude with the Jianghu people of Haotian Village to murder Young Master Zhan Baoqing of the Duke of England Mansion?”

Gan Jinming raised his head, his vacant gaze swept over the court, suddenly falling on Xia Wenjin, his eyes widened suddenly, and his previously dull eyes moved, like a walking dead suddenly came to life.

He said hoarsely, ”Your Excellency, Young Master Zhan’s status is noble, originally, even ten times the guts, I wouldn’t dare approach him, but he drove my sister to death. Given another chance, I would still kill him!”

The officer responsible for the main accusation for the Duke of England Mansion shouted, ”How dare you! Aren’t you afraid of being executed by dismemberment?” His family’s young master was already dead, and this commoner dared to speak such words.

Gan Jinming’s lips curled with a trace of mockery, ”My only sister is also dead, avenging her, I have no regrets in this life, be it dismemberment or decapitation, it’s but a death!”

He seemed to face death unwaveringly. Seeing him like this, Wen Yuanting frowned and said sternly, ”Irrelevant people must not interrupt, Gan Jinming, how did you conspire, how did you act, tell the truth!”

Gan Jinming lowered his head, his numb face showed a sorrowful expression, and choked out, ”Your Excellency, more than ten years ago, a disaster struck my hometown, all my relatives perished in that disaster, only my sister and I survived. I wandered with my sister to the Capital City, relying on each other all these years! Just over a month ago, Zhan Baoqing took a liking to my sister, harassed her openly, and threatened my life, driving her to death. Losing my sister, I decided, even if I died, I would avenge her. I kept following Zhan Baoqing, looking for an opportunity. Seven days ago, Zhan Baoqing’s men discovered my tracking, and ordered his servants to beat me to death on the street. At that time, Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin, two benefactors, happened to pass by, they righteously intervened and saved me...”
