The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 559: Chapter 559: Take Them Down

As they entered the courtyard, they realized there wasn’t a single person inside.

The young man with thick eyebrows explained, ”The whole family has returned to their hometown for ancestral worship, leaving only an old servant here to clean up, and they don’t usually live here.”

Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin were secretly pleased to hear this.

After helping the young man with thick eyebrows inside, he immediately knelt on the ground, grateful for their life-saving assistance.

Hua Yuanming pulled him up, and Gu Hongxin asked, ”How did your sister end up being forced to her death by that Brocade Young Master? Who is this Brocade Young Master?”

The young man with thick eyebrows said, ”My family is from a village in the suburb, and my name is Gan Jinming. Our family ancestors were military households, but later we fell into commerce. Half a year ago, my father failed in business, couldn’t bear the blow, and died of illness. So I took my sister to the Capital City to seek refuge with a great aunt, but on the first day we entered the city, we encountered that person!”

Gan Jinming’s face was full of grief and indignation, with more hatred, he said through gritted teeth, ”That person is the grandson of the Duke of England. He saw my sister’s beauty and immediately surrounded us siblings with his people, molesting us and insulting us at will. When I rushed forward, I was seriously injured by his servants.”

With his words, an image of a playboy humiliating a virtuous young woman instantly appeared in Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin’s minds, filling them with righteous indignation.

Gan Jinming continued, ”They wanted to beat me to death in front of my sister. My sister knelt and cried, pleading. That person... that person, relying on his family’s power, gave my sister two choices...”

His voice trembled, not only his voice, but his whole body shook, which was a manifestation of a person’s extreme anger: ”He said my sister must alternately serve him and his servants, or die! To save me, my sister died by smashing her head against a wall! Those people laughed as if they were watching a show. Such a deep hatred was just a spectacle in their eyes. My sister’s living life meant less than an ant to them. I can’t swallow this, so I’ve been following them, looking for opportunities to avenge my sister. Today they found me, and if it weren’t for you two rescuing me, I would have been beaten to death by them!”

As Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin listened, a surge of anger rushed out; such lawlessness!

Fortunately, they encountered him, and thus saved him.

If they had known how despicable this person was, they would have killed him with a single sword stroke back then.

However, in retrospect, they were somewhat relieved, thankful they hadn’t acted impulsively.

They had guessed that the Brocade Young Master had an extraordinary background, but never expected it to be this extraordinary.

At Haotian Village, they thought even the Imperial Grandson was nothing.

But since becoming Captains, they understood what kind of powerful entity the Duke of England and his family were. With such status and influence, there were countless ways to kill two insignificant Third Class Captains.

Gu Hongxin was especially grateful that he hadn’t acted harshly towards the Brocade Young Master, using coercion only as a last resort, and had not harmed him in the slightest, releasing him once they ensured their own safety.

They had a chivalrous heart, wishing to right injustices and save others, which was commendable. But the premise of saving others was to not get themselves into trouble. After all, they were no longer people of Jianghu and could not act recklessly and fearlessly as before.

Gu Hongxin said, ”Little brother, listen to my advice. You have no chance of avenging now. Staying in the Capital City will only get yourself caught too. The skilled fighters around that person are extraordinary, even we can’t overcome them, let alone an ordinary person like you who hasn’t practiced Martial Arts. Having spirit is good, seeking revenge is right, but revenge shouldn’t be blind suicide. A gentleman’s revenge is never too late even if it takes ten years. You’d better leave the city and embark on a distant journey, and after you acquire skills, you can return for revenge.”

Gan Jinming looked desperate, and after a long while, heavily nodded, ”Benefactor, I know you’re right. I can’t avenge now, I’m too useless. If I die, no one in this world will ever know us siblings, nor will anyone ever remember the revenge of us siblings. I mustn’t die; tomorrow I’ll leave the city and journey far away!”

Seeing he understood, Gu Hongxin patted his shoulder.

Having settled Gan Jinming there, they had done utmost kindness and, after saying a few more words, took their leave.

Returning to the main street, both of them were sober now.

The two exchanged glances and turned to continue walking. However, after a moment, they couldn’t help but glance at each other again.

Gu Hongxin said, ”Second Brother, we didn’t expose our identities, they won’t know who we are. Besides, we didn’t harm him in the slightest. This matter should be able to pass, right?”

Hua Yuanming’s passion subsided, thinking of their situation, he couldn’t help but sigh, ”This time we acted recklessly!”

Gu Hongxin nodded in full agreement, saying, ”We’ve been in Jianghu for so long, and even though we’re now in officialdom, we still act unconsciously like Jianghu people, especially after drinking, behaving impulsively. We must be more cautious in the future.”

Hua Yuanming said, ”I know, I’ll be careful in the future. I just dispatched someone to fetch your sister-in-law, wanting her to see me in all my glory. I can’t afford to lose face!”

When they first joined the military, they wanted to bring their wives and children over. With good prospects, they naturally wanted to bring their wives over to enjoy life together. However, Xia Wanqing told them not to hurry, saying that people were safe in Haotian Village, and that they hadn’t really secured their footing yet.

More than half a month ago, the two of them again entertained this idea, thinking Brother Xia disagreed because he was not an official, and besides, all his sons and daughters had already come to the Capital City.

They decided not to let Brother Xia know about this matter for now, and after discussing it together, they sent someone to fetch their families, who should be arriving at the Capital soon.

The two returned to the Capital Guard camp, where Third Class Captains had their own separate quarters.

The next morning, Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin were having breakfast. ℴ

Since they were all from Haotian Village and their families weren’t around yet, they ate together.

After breakfast, the two were about to go on duty when suddenly a team of Capital Guards stormed in, surrounding Gu Hongxin’s residence completely.

They were standing at the door, and it seemed as if the Capital Guards didn’t even notice them.

Gu Hongxin wondered, ”What are you doing surrounding my place?”

A sneering voice was heard, followed by a tall, black skinny man in a Third Class Captain’s uniform striding over, making Hua Yuanming and Gu Hongxin pause in surprise.

What was happening?

Of course, they recognized this black skinny man; it was Dunwu Captain Cai Shilin, who was of the same rank and class as them. The difference was that he had been a Dunwu Captain for five years already.

With a contemptuous look, he surveyed the two of them and snorted, ”What’s this about? If you’ve done nothing wrong, why fear the spectre haunting at night! Why don’t you know yourselves?”

He raised his hand, his voice dripping with authority and superiority, ”Arrest them!”

Hua Yuanming came to his senses and shouted, ”Who dares!”
