Chapter 144: Chapter 132: Autopsy to Uncover the Truth

Just now, that sentence made his anxious heart suddenly calm down significantly.

Based on his work experience, for corpses found in fire scenes, as long as it can be determined that the deceased was alive when the fire started,

then the likelihood of murder is very small.

Immediately after, Jiang An moved to the left side of the deceased’s head. Holding tweezers, he separated the upper and lower eyelids in the same manner.

”Likewise, you can see the inside of the eyelid is very clean, with changes on either side resembling goose feet.”

After examining the key parts, Jiang An continued examining the deceased’s neck, chest, abdomen, and back from top to bottom.

However.

Because most of the skin and muscles had been burnt and charred, there wasn’t much left for Jiang An to examine regarding tissues and organs.

He turned and said: ”Mr. Li, please record this.”

”The remaining muscle tissue on the deceased’s body is partially torn, with irregular and uneven tear ends. No evidence of cutting by sharp instruments was found.”

”After examining the deceased’s entire skeletal system, no evidence of fractures was found.”

After completing the examination of the body surface, Jiang An put down the tweezers in his hand.

He picked up two willow leaf blades and, following his usual dissection procedure and technique, started cutting from the chest of the deceased.

With the willow leaf blades in both hands, he performed reverse actions, moving one upwards and the other downwards.

With his right hand, the willow leaf blade moved upwards to the mandible of the deceased.

With his left hand, the willow leaf blade moved downwards to above the perineum of the deceased.

Suddenly, Jiang An glanced at the perineal area of the deceased.

He turned and said: ”In the perineal area of the deceased, a portion of the charred and carbonized male organ can be seen.”

”It can be determined that the deceased should be male.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Wan silently walked over.

Seeing that the area was already burned to a crisp, his heart tightened, and he instinctively adjusted his waistband.

Two minutes later, Jiang An cut the rib and sternum.

The thoracic and abdominal cavities of the deceased were fully exposed in front of his eyes.

Zhang Yean held up a camera and clicked a picture.

She curiously asked, ”Why do the deceased’s lungs look so red?”

Jiang An explained, ”If the body died under normal circumstances, the deceased’s lungs would appear dark red or grayish-white.”

”However, this is a body from a fire scene.”

”In the fire, the deceased inhaled a lot of hot air that caused lung damage, leading to lung congestion and changes.”

”Meanwhile, due to the lack of oxygen at the fire scene, carbon monoxide was produced.”

”Carbon monoxide enters the bloodstream, combines with hemoglobin, and the blood appears bright red.”

”The capillaries in the human lungs are very abundant, so they appear very bright red.”

Zhang Yean tilted her head and asked, ”Doesn’t this further prove that the deceased was burned alive?”

Jiang An nodded.

”This is also a very typical sign of being burned alive.”

Upon hearing this, Li Jian’s furrowed brows relaxed considerably.

Although the autopsy was not yet complete, he could conclude that when the fire broke out indoors, the deceased was showing signs of life.

Additionally, there were no sharp cuts on the body surface of the deceased, nor were there any fractures in the bones.

As it stands, it can basically be determined that the deceased did not suffer any external injuries.

Based on his criminal investigation experience, Li Jian judged that this was highly likely an accidental death.

At this moment.

Jiang An lifted the deceased’s stomach and used scissors to cut open the stomach.

Instantly, a strong smell of alcohol wafted out.

”Wow! He drank quite a lot before he died.”

Wan covered his nose and quickly stepped back two steps.

Jiang An said: ”Indeed, he drank quite a bit.”

”We will draw blood to test the deceased for alcohol.”

Then, Wan brought over a pipette and a blood sampling tube.

Jiang An took a scalpel and horizontally cut open the deceased’s heart.

Following this, he used a pipette to draw blood from the heart and transferred it into the blood sampling tube.

Finally, Jiang An picked up the willow leaf blade and made a longitudinal cut in the deceased’s trachea.

You could see a large amount of black soot-like material adhered to the tracheal wall of the deceased.

Zhang Yean was very cooperative, raising the camera, clicking rapidly to take pictures.

”This is so obvious, it reminds me of the burnt pig case in Song Ci’s forensic book.”

Jiang An nodded.

”There is a lot of carbon debris adhered to the inner wall of the deceased’s trachea, which fully indicates that the deceased had vigorous respiratory activity when the fire started.”

Li Jian hurried forward. ”This is an important characteristic of being burned alive.”

After a while, Jiang An sawed open the deceased’s skull.

”The deceased’s skull had no fractures, and there were no bleeding injuries in the brain tissue.”

He then turned and said: ”Mr. Li, the autopsy is all completed.”

Li Jian nodded, glanced down at his wristwatch.

”Twenty-nine and a half minutes.”

Wan said: ”Junior, you did well! You kept to the time very precisely.”

Jiang An turned his head, the corner of his mouth lifting into a smile.

”Using both hands for the dissection made it much faster.”

At this moment.

Li Jian also felt considerably relieved, not as oppressive as when he first arrived.

He said, ”Looking at it now, it can be clearly confirmed that the deceased was burned alive.”

”And, it’s highly likely he accidentally burned to death after drinking.”

Wan also nodded.

”Mr. Li, I have seen cases where people lost consciousness after drinking and couldn’t call for help, ultimately burning to death.”

Finally, Jiang An looked up and said: ”Mr. Li, I have already extracted the deceased’s blood.”

”Although this deceased could be Zhang Biao, who was on duty today, we still need to carry out identity verification to confirm his true identity for safety.”

Li Jian said: ”Of course! This is one of our procedural steps.”

”After all, judging by the current state of the deceased, he is unrecognizable.”

”We definitely can’t make a mistake regarding the identity of the deceased.”
