The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 121: Chapter 121: The Pressure of Solving the Case Arrives

Regarding the series of questions raised by the media?

Captain Li Jian suddenly found himself unsure of how to answer them effectively.

To suggest there was doubt about the original conclusion now would clearly negate all previous work, damaging the image of the criminal investigation team externally.

It’s important to remember that three months ago, the final case conclusion was already conveyed to the family.

Now, suddenly, saying there’s a problem with the original conclusion.

Isn’t that like shooting oneself in the foot?

Not only would the deceased’s family find it hard to accept, but the media reporters would definitely be shocked as well, likely to release it as an explosive news story soon.

After a long consideration, Captain Li Jian said, ”We attach great importance to any criminal case.”

”Regarding the Liu Jun fall and death case, we will still not let it go easily.”

”Now reopening the investigation into this case is due to the emergence of new evidence, which we are thoroughly verifying.”

”If someone else is found to have harmed Liu Jun in his death case, our detective team will absolutely not tolerate it; we will thoroughly investigate and capture the perpetrator, bringing justice to the deceased.”

”Of course, if our investigation reveals no criminal case basis, we will certainly provide a comprehensive response to all media and family members.”

After speaking, Captain Li Jian said, ”We have official duties to attend to, requiring in-depth investigation, so I ask the media to go back early.”

”If there is any latest news, we will certainly release it to the media through the communications department.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Captain Li Jian glanced behind him.

Immediately, the three followed Li Jian and swiftly left.

Just after getting into the car, Captain Li Jian flew into a rage.

He said, ”What’s with the security at the Forensic Anatomy Center? Didn’t they stop these media in time?”

”Fortunately, they only inquired about some case details.”

”What if they rush into the dissection room with cameras, recording and photographing our autopsy process, and report it?”

”Then the trouble would be immense, a public opinion pressure we cannot bear.”

”I suspect I might have to remove my police uniform by then.”

Wan, holding the steering wheel, turned his head and said, ”Mr. Li, please calm down, the Forensic Anatomy Center does not have independent security, but shares it with the funeral parlor.”

”Their primary duty is maintaining the order of the funeral parlor, merely extending to include the Forensic Anatomy Center’s order.”

”So, since they’re not paid for this work, they naturally won’t be conscientious.”

Li Jian turned his head to glance at Wan.

”However, we should modify our forensic dissection protocol.”

”After completing all pre-communication related to the dissection, immediately close the center’s door.”

”Without our permission, no unrelated personnel must enter the dissection room.”

”Mr. Li, that indeed is a good idea.”

The four drove the police car swiftly towards the Jiangcheng City Bureau.

However, before the car reached the police team, Captain Li Jian’s phone rang.

As soon as the call was connected, Mr. Ma asked excitedly, ”What’s going on? There’s so much public commentary online now.”

Having just taken a short nap in the car, Li Jian was suddenly baffled by this statement.

”Mr. Ma, what do you mean?”

”You’re asking me what I mean?”

”I’m asking you what you mean!”

”Photos of the four of you at the Forensic Anatomy Center have been posted online by the media, making the Jiangcheng headlines, along with detailed graphic explanations.”

With those words, the previously drowsy Li Jian was now fully awake.

Immediately, he turned to Zhang Yean and said, ”Check what the online commentary is saying.”

Zhang Yean opened Jiangcheng headlines, where the cover prominently featured photos of their four.

At the top of the picture was a headline: ”Severed head tragedy, further mystery, police reinvestigate.”

”Mr. Li!”

Zhang Yean quickly handed over the phone.

Li Jian merely glanced at it and instantly became tense.

He noticed that the like and share count at the bottom of the post had already reached millions.

”These unscrupulous media, causing us trouble for nothing.”

Then, Li Jian explained, ”Mr. Li, while performing the autopsy earlier, indeed there was media suddenly entering the family reception area, this was a lapse in our duties.”

On the other end of the call, Mr. Ma’s tone elevated a few notches.

”Now, we’re in a very passive situation.”

”If we can’t provide our conclusion within a day, the online commentary will continue to ferment for another day.”

”In the morning, you mentioned there might be an issue with this case, can you confirm where the problem lies now?”

Li Jian replied, ”From the morning’s autopsy results, the deceased was attacked from behind by someone prior to death, causing skull depression fractures and brain hemorrhage.”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Ma was momentarily stunned, standing motionless.

Suddenly, he gradually realized the seriousness of the issue.

After a long pause, he asked, ”Is the area of hemorrhage large? Could it cause death?”

”According to Jiang An’s analysis, the hemorrhage was located on the top of the brain, and was not extensive; while it wouldn’t cause death, it could lead to coma and loss of consciousness.”

Mr. Ma continued to ask, ”Can the cause of death be determined?”

”The deceased was killed due to separation of the head.”

Though the cause of death has been determined, there was blunt force trauma to the head prior to death.

Suddenly, Mr. Ma felt a sudden tightness in his chest.

He deeply understood the complexity of fall-induced deaths.

After all, whether the deceased jumped off the building himself or was pushed by someone else makes little difference.

The Criminal Investigation Team has just tackled a tough case, and now another challenging one has come up.

After a long pause.

Mr. Ma said, ”At present, have we found anything else of value?”

Li Jian replied, ”We have already extracted the food from the deceased’s stomach and blood from his body and are about to conduct toxin and alcohol tests.”

”The results of the alcohol test can help analyze the deceased’s state of consciousness at the time.”

After hearing this, Mr. Ma felt anxious.

Just now, the Director of the Petition Bureau called him as soon as he saw the news to find out what was going on.

Now it seems, the situation is becoming more and more complicated.

Mr. Ma has many years of experience in criminal investigation.

He seemed to vaguely perceive that this case is continuously developing in the direction of a homicide.

It’s impossible for someone to suddenly have a head injury before death for no reason.

There must be a significant hidden truth behind this.

Even.....

Suddenly, Mr. Ma had the worst guess in his mind.

After a long silence, Mr. Ma said, ”Li Jian, the media attention on this case is very high right now. You must be extra cautious.”

”No matter what the final conclusion is, whether it’s a criminal case or not, we must clarify and figure it out thoroughly.”

”We may not need to rush to a conclusion immediately, but once we do, we must have solid evidence.”

”Yes! Mr. Ma.”

”Next, we’ll immediately conduct an in-depth investigation.”

”On one hand, we will test the extracted samples from the body, and on the other hand, we will return to the scene for thorough investigation, while actively sorting out the deceased’s personal relationships.”

Mr. Ma said, ”Because of the funding chain breakdown, Jiangtai Construction Site stopped work three months ago. The original site should be preserved; you still have the conditions for investigation.”

”If there’s any development, you must report to me promptly.”

”Yes! Mr. Ma!”

After hanging up, Li Jian said, ”Let’s go back and get the scene investigation equipment. We’re heading to Building No. 5 at Jiangtai Construction Site for scene investigation.”

Meanwhile, a reopening ceremony is being held in the central courtyard of Jiangtai Construction Site.

The chairman of Jiangtai Construction Group attended the reopening ceremony.

Standing on the red carpet on the platform, he held the speech notes and said, ”Jiangtai Construction Group has always been an important enterprise in Jiangcheng.”

”Over the years, we have built many high-rise buildings and residential houses in Jiangcheng.”

”Three months ago, due to the circulation issues with the funding chain, the entire construction project was paused.”

”As the saying goes, a brief rest is for a better start.”

”Now, our funds have come back, and we’re immediately starting the resumption and production of this building project.”

”I believe that in half a year, a beautiful home will appear in the beautiful Jiangcheng.”

As he finished speaking, a police car with flashing lights arrived at the entrance of Jiangtai Construction Site.

Suddenly, the chairman’s speech abruptly stopped, his gaze falling on the distant police car.

The people below noticed the chairman’s change in expression and action and turned to look behind them.

At the entrance, there were two police cars with flashing lights.

One of the police cars had ’Scene Investigation’ written on its side.

Mr. Zhang from the project department immediately turned and walked over.

He waved warmly from afar.

Jogging over, ”Mr. Li, what wind brought you here?”

”We’re just having our reopening ribbon-cutting ceremony today.”

Li Jian’s face was solemn and serious, ”Mr. Zhang, I’m sorry, I am not here to attend your ribbon-cutting ceremony today, nor to congratulate you.”

”We are here today to investigate a case.”

Mr. Zhang’s smiled lightly.

”Mr. Li, thank you for personally coming to investigate the case.”

”However, the cable theft case that happened here last month has already been handled by the police.”

”We’re not here to investigate the theft case today, but a homicide.”

Upon hearing the word ”homicide,” Mr. Zhang’s smile suddenly froze.

”Mr. Li, are you joking?”

”Today is the reopening ceremony of our construction site, and we’ve had no one here for three months.”

”How could a homicide happen on this site?”

Li Jian said slowly, ”The case we are investigating today is the homicide from three months ago.”

Shortly after, Mr. Zhang said, ”You mean the case of Liu Jun’s fall to his death three months ago?”

Li Jian nodded.

”Mr. Li, wasn’t that case already closed?”

”Liu Jun died accidentally from a fall after drinking!”

”Do we need to investigate again now?”

Li Jian turned to look at Mr. Zhang.

”Do we, as criminal police, need to report to you in advance?”

Then, Li Jian and his team took their investigation equipment and headed straight towards Building No. 5.
