The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 108: Chapter 108: An Unexpected Medical Record!

In an instant, everyone fell into deep thought.

There are too many unusual phenomena in this case.

The case was discovered relatively late, and many clues and evidence weren’t searched for or secured in the first instance.

After a long silence, Li Jian said, ”There is no love without reason, nor hate without cause.”

”In this case, no possessions were missing from indoors, so we can entirely rule out a stranger breaking into the home, with theft turning into murder.”

”Since the killer chose to cruelly murder the victim, I believe the motive for the crime is at least related to one person, possibly to both.”

”Currently, we have affirmed the true identities of two individuals.”

”Next, we need to focus on sorting out the personal relationships of the two deceased, to see if there was anyone in their life or work with whom they had conflicts.”

”Meanwhile, we need to continue deepening our understanding and study of the scene, to see if any more valuable clues can be uncovered.”

”Items extracted from the scene should be sent to the lab for testing as soon as possible.”

”Additionally, we must clarify the source of the large sums of money each individual received before death, and ascertain if it relates to the case.”

Finally, Li Jian said, ”Tonight’s work will conclude for now, and we’ll continue the investigation tomorrow.”

The following day, as soon as work began, everyone sprang into action.

Vice Captain Chen He led a team to Houshan Town to further investigate Zhang Rui’s workplace—Youyuan Hair Salon.

Li Jian led a team to Platinum Han KTV for a deeper investigation.

9:00 AM.

Li Jian and Wan drove to the entrance of Platinum Han KTV.

Although they contacted the store manager Ma Li beforehand.

This time, however, she wasn’t as enthusiastic as last time and didn’t wait outside.

Wan stood at the entrance and knocked. After a long while, the door was opened.

Ma Li asked, ”Mr. Li, are you here again for the Qin Xiao matter?”

Li Jian nodded.

”The case hasn’t been solved yet, so we’re here to further understand the situation.”

”Mr. Li, everything I knew about the situation I shared last time.”

”If you ask again, I have no additional information to provide you.”

”Thank you for your cooperation last time.”

”However, this time, we intend to delve deeper.”

”How do you pay your employees?”

”Every month on the first, through unified transfers.”

”What about the salary?”

”A base salary of 3000 plus commission.”

”While Qin Xiao worked with you, how much was her monthly salary?”

”Around 6000.”

”During her time with your firm, did Qin Xiao have conflicts with other employees or guests?”

”No, I already mentioned last time.”

Seeing Ma Li’s face filled with impatience, Wan immediately said, ”Please think carefully; don’t speak off the cuff.”

”If you’re deliberately concealing clues or protecting a crime.”

”We have reason to detain you for obstruction of justice.”

Hearing this, a flicker of fear flashed across Ma Li’s face.

”Mr. Li, I truly know nothing.”

Wan continued, ”Did Qin Xiao have a boyfriend before she died?”

”I’ve never seen or heard of Qin Xiao having a boyfriend.”

Li Jian said, ”We’ve learned that Qin Xiao’s biological parents and grandparents have passed away.”

”She only has a stepfather back in her hometown, with whom she hasn’t been in contact for years.”

”So, who looked after her in the hospital last year when she broke her leg?”

”It’s impossible for someone with a shin fracture to take care of themselves, right?”

”I honestly don’t know.”

”Mr. Li, when I went to Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital to visit her, I didn’t see anyone else.”

Wan also said, ”Stop pretending here. A shin fracture isn’t the same as other illnesses.”

”For other illnesses, maybe one person can manage, but not for a fracture.”

Ma Li said, ”When I later visited her at home, I didn’t see anyone else.”

Meanwhile.

Jiang An and Zhang Yean arrived at the evidence lab, preparing to deeply process the evidence collected last night.

After turning on the lab lights, Jiang An placed all four evidence boxes on the largest table in the center.

Then, Jiang An and Zhang Yean each donned gloves and began cleaning in the order of evidence extraction.

Jiang An asked, ”Senior sister, can we see the fingerprint patterns extracted from the light switch last night?”

Zhang Yean shook her head.

”I sprayed all the switches to extract fingerprint marks.”

”But in areas covered by blood stains, I couldn’t see any fingerprint patterns.”

”The killer committed the crime wearing gloves?”

”From the fingerprint identification angle, it strongly suggests the killer wore gloves.”

”Otherwise, it would be impossible not to see any patterns.”

Jiang An glanced at all the evidence on the platform.

”Last night, are all the pieces of evidence collected by the other two scene investigation colleagues here too?”

Zhang Yean replied, ”It’s all here.”

”Alright! Let’s begin!”

Then, the two cooperated with each other.

After 5 minutes, Jiang An picked up a stack of medical records.

Zhang Yean was somewhat curious and asked, ”So thick?”

”Six months before Qin Xiao’s death, she was hospitalized due to a car accident. These are the medical records from that stay.”

”Give them to me, I’ll input the discharge information into the computer.”

Jiang An handed the medical records to Zhang Yean.

For an instant, Zhang Yuan didn’t completely catch them.

”Crash.”

Part of the medical records scattered on the floor.

Zhang Yean hurriedly said, ”I’m sorry, I’ll pick them up.”

Jiang An smiled and said, ”No worries, probably stayed up late last night and lost focus.”

Then, Jiang An squatted down too, helping to gather the scattered records.

Suddenly, a discharge certificate caught Jiang An’s eye.

He stopped his movements and stared at the certificate.

”What’s wrong? Is there an issue?”

”These are hospitalization records from half a year before the death; shouldn’t have any relation to the case, right?”

After pondering for a while, Jiang An replied, ”The fracture shouldn’t have any connection to the case.”

”But why does this bundle of medical records include another person’s discharge certificate?”

”Another person?”

”Who?”

Zhang Yean looked curiously.

”According to the records, an elderly woman, 68, was hospitalized after falling downstairs and breaking a bone.”

Zhang Yean said, ”In our investigation of Qin Xiao’s personal identity, wasn’t it highlighted that there was someone of this age?”

”Her grandparents and parents have all passed away.”

”How could there be an elderly person’s medical records?”

Just as she finished speaking, Jiang An’s eyes noticed the hospital room and bed number of this elderly woman.

Room 19, Bed 1.

Then, he asked, ”Senior sister, which hospital room did Qin Xiao stay in at the time?”

Zhang Yean glanced at the medical records in her hand.

”Room 19, Bed 2.”

Immediately, Jiang An compared the two discharge certificates.

He discovered that both were discharged on the same day.

After pondering for a while, Zhang Yean said, ”Is it possible that when discharged on the same day, due to a doctor’s oversight, or the patient’s own negligence, the two discharge certificates got mixed together?”

Upon hearing this, Jiang An did not immediately express his opinion.

He looked down closely at Qin Xiao’s medical records and found that the caregiver field was blank.

After a long time, Jiang An said, ”This situation you described could exist, but the probability is low.”

”I’m considering another possibility.”

”What possibility?”
