Chapter 120: Chapter 120: The Injury Process of the Deceased

At this moment.

Exposed to the view of the four people, there was a large amount of blood on the surface of the brain tissue.

Li Jian, Wan, and Zhang Yean were instantly dumbfounded.

Zhang Yean said in shock, ”I’ve never seen such a massive hemorrhage before.”

”Was the intracranial hemorrhage of the deceased caused by the impact?”

Jiang An replied, ”Some of this bleeding was caused by the impact, and some was caused by the head hitting the ground during the fall.”

”The blood stains are all mixed together; can they be distinguished?”

Jiang An nodded.

”If the bleeding occurred after the head was severed and fell to the ground, it is just vascular rupture and blood flow, and this bleeding won’t have the coagulation reaction.”

”In other words, this blood will not clot.”

”However, if there was intracranial bleeding before the fall, the body would initiate a coagulation response, and the blood would clot into lumps.”

Seeing the puzzled expressions on the three faces.

Jiang An continued, ”It’s similar to a wound on our hand. Generally, a person’s wound bleeds but will automatically stop bleeding.”

”This is because, after forming a skin tear, many coagulation factors and lymphocytes gather at the wound, causing the blood to clot.”

”However, for hemophiliacs, after they bleed, due to poor clotting ability, they continue to bleed.”

”Therefore.”

”If the body is alive when bleeding occurs, there will be a blood coagulation reaction.”

”If vital signs are already lost during the bleeding process, the coagulation reaction will not be initiated.”

As he spoke, Jiang An raised his hand to point at the top area of the deceased’s brain.

”The color in this area is very dark, locally clumped into patches, which is clearly the result of local blood coagulation.”

”Compared to here, the bleeding in other areas is all over the surface of the brain, not coagulated together.”

Jiang An then took out the brain tissue of the deceased and rinsed it under a faucet.

Sure enough, after lightly rinsing with running water, except for the coagulated blood clots at the top, the blood in other areas was washed away.

”Although the original photo shows the location where the deceased fell was on a gravel surface.”

”The gravel provides good cushioning but still has a great impact force after a fall from a height.”

”In such a situation, the tearing of brain tissue blood vessels is quite normal.”

Wan and Zhang Yean nodded after hearing.

However, Li Jian’s brow furrowed deeply.

Even though this problem was cleared up.

He had a bigger question in his mind.

”Jiang An, what kind of impact would this range of blood clots have on the body?”

Jiang An thought for a while and answered, ”This range of brain hemorrhage could very likely lead to the deceased experiencing brief unconsciousness and loss of consciousness.”

”Brief unconsciousness?”

”Loss of consciousness?”

At this moment, a strange distribution of dust on the deceased’s body suddenly came to Li Jian’s mind.

”If the bleeding at the top could lead to unconsciousness, doesn’t it mean the deceased fell to the ground unconscious, causing a lot of dust on the front side of the body?”

Jiang An nodded.

”Mr. Li, I share this view.”

”The dust distribution on the deceased’s body is very strange, particularly the dust and abrasions on the back of the hand.”

”When we fall to the ground consciously, we instinctively extend our hands to minimize injury.”

”Only after losing consciousness or becoming unconscious would there be no such defensive actions.”

Upon hearing this, the forensic examination room fell silent.

Deducting from this basis, it suggests the deceased was struck on the head by someone else causing unconsciousness before the fall.

Li Jian suddenly felt a chill down his spine.

This high-fall case is quite common, but he didn’t expect intracranial bleeding in the deceased.

Now, the case is becoming more complex.

He sighed, suddenly dissatisfied with the initial handling of the matter.

Zhang Yean said, ”Mr. Li, at the scene, Mr. Wu insisted on performing an autopsy on the body before proceeding with other actions.”

”However, the family members were very resistant at the time, and their emotions were extremely agitated.”

”To stabilize the family members’ emotions and facilitate handling later.”

”So, the autopsy on this body was not completed as an experience.”

Jiang An also nodded.

”If a comprehensive autopsy had been completed at that time, I believe Mr. Wu could have definitely identified the problems with this case.”

After a long pause, Li Jian said, ”We can’t totally blame Mr. Wu; the outcome is due to many factors.”

”However, it’s not too late now.”

”Jiang An, how do you think we should explain the head injury?”

”From my perspective, I believe the deceased was attacked from behind before death.”

”Moreover, this person was of considerable height.”

”Regarding the tool used, I don’t think it’s a brick from a construction site.”

”Because a brick could cause a skin tear during the impact, possibly leaving brick particles in the wound.”

”Then what do you think the tool was?”

Jiang An replied, ”Judging by the indentation on the deceased’s skull, the weapon should be a cylinder.”

”This tool could cause a localized depression and deformation of the skull bone, indicating its density is greater than the skull’s.”

”There are no obvious wounds on the scalp, suggesting the tool the perpetrator used had a relatively smooth surface.”

”Based on the comprehensive analysis above, I believe the murder weapon is a cylindrical tool similar to a steel bar.”

Zhang Yean hurriedly said, ”I remember seeing a lot of steel bars at the construction site at the time.”

”If there were many steel bars on-site, then I suspect the perpetrator likely used the steel bars on the ground as a weapon.”

”Do you mean the victim engaged in a struggle before death?”

Jiang An shook his head.

”Although the victim’s torso yet to be examined.”

”However, according to the initial examination records, the victim’s arms and hands show no signs of struggle or impact injuries.”

”Therefore, I believe there was no combat, only a simple sneak attack.”

”Sneak attack?”

In an instant, Li Jian’s pupils contracted slightly, and he became tense.

If it was a sneak attack, then it is highly likely to be a premeditated crime.

Jiang An added, ”Simple intracranial bleeding would not directly cause the victim’s death, only brief unconsciousness or loss of awareness.”

He then focused his gaze on the transverse section of the victim’s neck.

”The actual cause of death was the severing of the neck caused by a high fall.”

Zhang Yean muttered to herself, ”This complicates things!”

Moments later, Jiang An approached the victim’s torso.

He reached out to touch the victim’s skin, which was gradually thawing.

Then, Jiang An picked up the Willow Leaf Blade with both hands and began to dissect the victim’s sternum.

Within 2 minutes.

The skin of the victim’s chest and abdomen was entirely dissected.

The chest cavity and abdominal cavity were exposed to the four people.

Visibly, the victim’s sternum and ribs were fractured in multiple places.

Zhang Yean asked, ”Were these fractures caused by the impact of the fall?”

Jiang An replied, ”None of these fracture sites have significant blood clots, indicating no self-repairing clotting function.”

”So, the fracture pattern suggests they occurred when the body struck the ground after the head separated.”

Jiang An then saw that the victim’s heart and lungs had burst, and the liver and kidneys had multiple lacerations.

After inspecting all internal organs, Jiang An said, ”No signs of bludgeoning were observed.”

Jiang An immediately said, ”Senior, please get me an evidence bag.”

”I want to extract some of the victim’s gastric contents for toxicological testing.”

Jiang An grabbed a small spoon, scooped some food into a plastic cup, and placed it in the evidence bag.

Putting down the spoon, he picked up a large syringe nearby, inserted it into the victim’s heart, and drew a tube of blood.

”Send this blood for alcohol testing to determine the victim’s blood alcohol level before death.”

After finishing this, Jiang An approached.

He said, ”Mr. Li, the autopsy is complete.”

”Let me summarize the conclusions for you.”

”The cause of death is very clear; it was head separation due to a high fall.”

”The victim’s head was struck before death, causing localized skull fractures and bleeding on the brain’s surface.”

”I deduce the victim was in a state of unconsciousness or semi-consciousness at the time.”

”As for the toxicology and alcohol tests, we need to wait for the lab results to be sure.”

Li Jian nodded.

”Thank you for your hard work.”

”This autopsy has led to significant findings.”

After a long while, he sighed deeply.

”Fortunately, Jiang An inspected this case.”

”Otherwise, our detective team could have made a grave error, possibly resulting in a wrongful death investigation.”

After removing their protective dissecting suits and gloves, the four of them walked out together.

Suddenly, they found the office at the reception area crowded with people.

Besides family members, many people were holding cameras and microphones.

As soon as the four of them entered, there was a frenzy of photo-taking.

The sound of camera shutters firing off rang out.

Faced with this scene, Li Jian felt very anxious inside.

However, facing the media and cameras, he had to maintain his composure.

He raised his hand and said, ”Anyone in the media who has questions, I’m willing to answer them.”

A young woman asked, ”Is there any new development in this high fall causing decapitation case?”

”Currently, we have restarted the investigation, just finished the autopsy, and many follow-up tasks are still ahead.”

”What are the results of the autopsy?”

”I’m sorry, but that pertains to the case’s confidentiality, so I can’t answer you.”

Suddenly, another young man wearing glasses asked, ”Do you still believe it was an accidental fall?”

”Or is there a possibility that someone murdered him and then dropped the body?”
