The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 114: Chapter 114: Statement of the Crime

After a moment of silence, Wang Dayong spoke, ”When I learned the real situation, I was furious and immediately confronted the sisters.”

”Actually, my idea was simple; I just wanted to get my hard-earned money back.”

”I remember giving 100,000 as betrothal money to Zhang Rui.”

”Additionally, I gave 20,000 as an intermediary fee to Qin Xiao.”

”Qin Xiao said she was willing to return the 20,000 to me.”

”But Zhang Rui refused, saying she didn’t have the money.”

”Moreover, she said since she slept with me for a few nights, there should be charges for that.”

While speaking, Wang Dayong’s breath became rapid, and he clenched his fists tightly.

”Upon hearing this, I felt even more disgusted, especially thinking that she used to work at that salon, and I developed thoughts of revenge.”

”At that time, seeing Zhang Rui unwilling to return the money, Qin Xiao also said she had spent all her 20,000 and had no money to return.”

”Finally, I said they could pay in installments, 5000 monthly, without calculating interest.”

”But there’s a precondition: both of them have to sleep with me for one night.”

”After deliberation, they agreed.”

”At that moment, I had the intent to kill; that’s why I made that request.”

”It’s not really because I wanted to sleep with them, but to humiliate them before death.”

”When I met Qin Xiao, I knew she had a bit of insomnia.”

”Last October, she went to the hospital and got sleeping pills.”

”I secretly took a bottle of sleeping pills from the drawer of her bedside table and put it in the porridge they ate.”

”That day, after they had the porridge, they lay on the bed, and I made an excuse to go out for a bit and come back.”

”Outside, I specifically drove over a small truck from my construction site.”

”At that time, when driving the small truck into the community, the security guard saw some renovation tools in the car and didn’t stop me.”

”Just asked me to simply register at the entrance of the community, and then I went in.”

”When I re-entered the room, they were both already unconscious.”

”I dragged them from the bedroom bed to the living room floor.”

”Seeing them, I was extremely angry, especially seeing Zhang Rui, which made me feel nauseated.”

”Compared to Zhang Rui, my hatred for Qin Xiao was even deeper.”

”If it weren’t for her introducing Zhang Rui to me, the subsequent events would not have occurred.”

”I considered Qin Xiao a downright cheat.”

”So, I used an electric saw to remove her head, placed it in the refrigerator, and carved the word ’cheat’ on her face, branding her with this label even in death.”

”Once it was dark, I started putting them into black bags.”

”However, at the time, their legs were very stiff, unable to bend.”

”Helplessly, I used an electric saw to sever their lower limbs and packed them into black trash bags.”

”Around after 11 PM, there were fewer people outside.”

”I loaded their bodies into the small truck.”

Upon hearing this, Li Jian asked, ”Did anyone else see you at the time?”

Wang Dayong shook his head.

”When driving out late, the security guard at the gate specifically remarked, ’Renovation is really tough, working such long hours.’”

”I just grinned and said nothing.”

”Before carrying out the murder plan, did you consider dismembering them?”

Wang Dayong shook his head and answered, ”No.”

”Initially, since their legs couldn’t bend and wouldn’t fit into the black trash bags, I thought of using an electric saw to cut off their legs.”

Li Jian nodded.

His description of the crime process was basically consistent with Jiang An’s analysis of the scene.

Immediately, he turned and glanced at Chen He.

Chen He asked, ”Why did you carve words on the face of the deceased?”

Wang Dayong replied, ”She’s a cheat, an authentic cheat.”

”I wanted her to carry the label of ’cheat’ after death, so she wouldn’t deceive others.”

”Why did you put Qin Xiao’s head in the refrigerator?”

”Placing the head in the fridge prevents deterioration.”

”This way, the word ’cheat’ stays on her face longer.”

After finishing the questions, Chen He turned and said, ”Mr. Li, I have no other questions.”

Finally, Li Jian said sternly, ”You must be punished for breaking the law.”

”Regardless of the reason, using illegal means to take someone’s life must be subject to legal punishment.”

”Next, you’ll face legal judgment.”

After that, the two got up and walked out of the interrogation room.

Outside the glass window of the interrogation room, Jiang An and Zhang Yean were thrilled to see this result.

Especially Zhang Yean, who turned to Jiang An, feeling a strong sense of achievement within.

Suddenly, she had a feeling that as long as Jiang An was involved, there was no case that couldn’t be solved.

Just outside the interrogation room, Li Jian dialed Mr. Ma’s number.

”Mr. Ma, the suspect has confessed to the murder, and the case is solved.”

”What? Did he confess voluntarily?”

Li Jian answered, ”He wouldn’t confess voluntarily; it was Jiang An who found the tool used for the crime at their hometown.”

”Faced with undeniable evidence, Wang Dayong’s psychological defense completely collapsed.”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Ma was ecstatic.

”The killer didn’t dispose of the tools?”

Li Jian answered, ”He couldn’t bear to dispose of them.”

”The murder weapon was purchased recently, it’s an imported product and quite expensive.”

”This precisely provides us with an important lead.”

Mr. Ma said, ”The net of heaven is vast and meshes loosely, but not a single mistake will be let through.”

”Even without this chainsaw, I think we should be able to find other evidence.”

After pondering for a moment, Mr. Ma said, ”However, this is no longer important.”

”As long as the perpetrator admits their crime, and we have found objective evidence, that’s already enough.”

”In this world, there is no perfect crime, nor perfect investigation.”

”As long as the evidence we hold meets the standards for criminal conviction and sentencing, we can close the case.”

”This case has had a very negative impact, and the process of solving it was extremely convoluted.”

”Please compile a report on the case as soon as possible and submit it to the provincial department. Maybe by the end of the year, it will somewhat boost our performance score in Jiangcheng criminal investigations.”

”Yes, Mr. Ma!”

”Mr. Ma, you see...”

Before Li Jian could finish, Mr. Ma interrupted him.

”I know, it’s about credit again.”

”It’s alright, this case can be considered an unresolved case from years ago, getting commendations and awards is inevitable.”

”However, the criminal investigation team is a collective, we can’t have the same people getting credit all the time.”

”Every case-solving involves individual talents as well as collective wisdom.”

”So, I suggest this time everyone shares in the credit, giving more people the opportunity to be recognized.”

”Yes, Mr. Ma!”

”I understand what you mean.”

Mr. Ma continued, ”Since Jiang An joined the police team, he has always been a pioneer in solving cases. He certainly deserves primary credit.”

”If he continues to get all the credit, eventually there might be talk from others, which could be detrimental to Jiang An’s career development.”

”To become a leading detective, one not only needs excellent case-solving skills but also a good foundation of interpersonal relationships.”

”Mr. Ma, you’re right, we’ll follow your arrangement.”

After ending the call, Li Jian looked at Jiang An and Zhang Yean, and immediately gave them a thumbs up.

”The two of you have made a great contribution again!”

”At the crucial moment of solving the case, you paved the way for the criminal investigation team.”

Jiang An smiled and said, ”Mr. Li, you’re too kind.”

”Actually, I only played a small part, everyone has put in a lot of effort.”

Jiang An continued, ”Mr. Li, I have a small suggestion, I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to mention it.”

Mr. Li smiled and said, ”We’ll take all your work suggestions.”

”Because they are very useful for our investigative work.”

Jiang An said, ”Mr. Li, after solving this case, if there are any opportunities for recognition, please don’t consider me, give the reward to others.”

”After all, I’ve only been working here for a week, and I’ve already been recognized several times.”

Li Jian smiled and glanced at Chen He.

”Mr. Chen, look how humble Jiang An is.”

Chen He patted Jiang An on the shoulder.

”You don’t shirk from cases, nor do you vie for credit.”

”You’re a role model for everyone in our criminal investigation team.”

Li Jian said, ”Jiang An, we’ll adopt your suggestion.”

”Your expectations are high, your vision broad; you haven’t let down Mr. Ma’s expectations of you.”

”However, everyone can see clearly, even though others received the credit, everyone can feel your effort towards solving the case.”

”Of course, this is also a step in accumulating interpersonal relationships during your growth.”

Jiang An smiled and said, ”Mr. Li, I haven’t thought that far ahead, I’m just passionate about investigative work and find it very challenging.”

”It’s good that you like it! Interest is the best teacher.”

”But, you also need to take care of your health and balance work with rest.”

Suddenly, Zhang Yean walked over and said with a smile, ”Mr. Li, now that this case is solved, don’t you think it’s time for a treat?”

”Of course!”

”Tonight, our criminal investigation team will have a small gathering, and I’ll treat everyone as a reward.”

Chen He said, ”Mr. Li, let’s split the bill this time.”

”You treated us last time too, if it continues, your wallet won’t be able to take it.”

Zhang Yean said, ”Captain, I was just kidding earlier.”

”Let’s organize and call it a split-bill gathering.”

At that moment, Li Jian’s phone rang, the caller ID showed it was Mr. Ma.

Suddenly, the smile on Li Jian’s face disappeared.

Having just spoken with Mr. Ma, another call must mean there is something important.

A bad premonition rose in his mind.

”Mr. Ma!”

”Mr. Li, are you not at the team right now?”

”I am! Do you have work for us?”

Mr. Ma said over the phone, ”Just now, a case from the Jiangcheng City’s Letters and Visits Bureau was transferred here.”

”Three months ago, at the Jiangtai Construction Site, a worker fell to their death; the deceased’s head was separated from the body.”

”The conclusion at the time was that it was due to the worker’s operational error, resulting in an accidental fall.”

”However, the deceased’s family does not agree with this conclusion.”

”The family believes there are significant doubts, and the Letters and Visits Bureau sent us a letter asking us to re-examine and re-open the investigation.”

Upon hearing this, Li Jian immediately said, ”Mr. Ma, I’ll head to your office right away!”
