Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 419: I’m something like a blacksmith myself

”As expected of Master Carter, his forged ore is truly extraordinary.”

”The way he made it was absolutely stunning. There was no wasted energy in his movements.”

”The way he effortlessly handled the refinement process gave me deep enlightenment. I finally realize I have been doing things completely wrong until now.”

”Yeah, from watching this, I realized just how incredibly bad my timing is. Having seen him in action has truly given me inspiration.”

”Now, I just want to rush back and test it out for myself.”

”To be able to refine a middle-grade 5-Star ore this effortlessly... His prestigious title as a Grandmaster is truly no joke.”

Hearing the excited commotion spreading through the crowd, John respectfully stood up from his chair. ”Master, it looks like absolutely everyone has gotten inspired by you. Should we dismiss the class now?”

The demonstration was short, but in the end, everyone had benefited immensely from this small session. Because in the world of Evolvers, action always spoke much louder than words.

”Not yet. Since everyone has already gathered here, let us give others an opportunity to try and pass,” Carter smiled warmly.

This top floor in particular exclusively held all of the 4-Star experts. Below this grand room, there were 3-Star blacksmiths, and so on. It was strictly arranged like that because 4-Star blacksmiths were the ones who would naturally gain the most out of observing a 5-Star refinement.

Among the wealthy crowd, Silas was also quietly observing.

’It is a very good thing I came here today. I finally have the courage to try a 10-fold refinement on a 5-Star ore,’ Silas rubbed his trimmed beard calmly as he mused to himself.

Observing a higher-ranking expert at work was, without a doubt, one of the best possible ways to gain profound enlightenment. But of course, you also needed to have a sharp eye for it. As an old, cunning monster, he naturally had one.

”Since everyone here seems to be rearing to forge something, I have this rare piece of 5-Star ore right here. I specifically made this avenue available for all the 4-Star blacksmiths. If you get lucky enough today, then you might be able to get enlightened and officially reach the 5-Star rank. I, as one of the Grandmasters of the Profession Guild, will personally oversee this. If you can successfully forge this 5-Star ore with even a basic 10-fold refinement, then I will personally hand you a 5-Star Profession Grandmaster badge and also give you some exclusive guidance along the way.”

Everyone in the grand avenue became incredibly lively once again. Getting personal guidance from a Grandmaster? Did that not basically guarantee they would become wildly successful?

”I will randomly choose one person out of the group,” Carter chuckled lightly. He knew everyone was rearing to go, but only one lucky individual would have the golden opportunity today. He might even give them a bit of extra guidance during the process to push them up a bit more.

Carter scanned his sharp eyes around the massive room and eventually settled on what appeared to be a lazy youth looking around with a completely bored look on his face.

Seeing this blatant lack of reverence, Carter’s eyes lit up with amusement.

”You, fellow blacksmith over there. Feel free to come up to the stage.”

”Huh?” Grey, who was lounging carelessly at his table, suddenly looked up toward the main stage. ”Me?” He pointed a finger at himself in surprise.

Absolutely everyone in the room turned their heads to look toward where Grey was sitting. A bright spotlight flickered across his elegant table, perfectly highlighting him for the entire crowd to see.

”That is right, good fellow. Come on up to the stage.”

”Huh? Okay, I guess,” Grey nodded casually.

Werner’s lips twitched violently when he saw this.

”Master, but you do not even know how to forge anything,” Werner swiftly said as he connected to Grey telepathically.

”Do not worry, I am something of a blacksmith myself,” Grey smiled mysteriously as he slowly stood up and walked toward the stage.

Werner’s lips twitched again. Things had never gone smoothly whenever his master said something like this. He genuinely felt like he should physically brace for a massive impact.

”Who is he?” one of the people at a nearby table spoke in hushed tones.

The vast majority of them were powerful 5th Rankers. Seeing a completely unfamiliar face casually selected caused a small commotion and a wave of hushed whispers.

”Will the Grandmaster recall someone else if he fails?”

”I really hope he fails. I also want to have a chance.”

”Well, for starters, do you have your own hammer?” Carter joked with a friendly smile on his face as Grey approached the anvil.

”Oh? No. I left it at home,” Grey spoke with a blank blink upon hearing the question.

”...” The entire grand room fell completely silent when they heard this absurd excuse.

Fuck, which actual blacksmith leaves their primary hammer at their house? Brother, you are supposedly a fabled 4-Star blacksmith. You should at least have a personal domain space, right? You could literally store it in there!

”Is that so?” Carter coughed slightly, highly amused by the sheer audacity. ”Then you can freely use my hammer.”

Carter sighed deeply as he respectfully handed his profound silver-runed hammer over to Grey.

Grey comfortably weighed the heavy hammer in his hands. Soon after, Carter gently placed a raw 5-Star ore directly onto the center of the anvil.

The Grandmaster began to slowly speak and offer advice, but Grey heard absolutely none of it. He was far too busy trying to mentally utilize his newly obtained, heaven-defying technique.

It was highly similar to the profound art Carter Smith possessed, except there were significantly fewer unnecessary extra steps.

This supreme technique essentially treated the complex refinement process as a simple video game. Utilizing this art allowed him to perfectly see the structural weak points of the ore. By striking those exact points, he would easily land a critical hit, flawlessly achieving several folds of refinement in one single strike.

But of course, the raw ore strictly needed to be heated up thoroughly first. Those critical strike windows only appeared at the absolute peak heat of the metal. If he failed to land the strike at the perfect moment, the entire precious ore would violently break apart due to the intense, uncontained heat.

In essence, he desperately needed to land a critical hit perfectly on time and aggressively change its atomic structure before it completely shattered and lost all of its cosmic power.
