Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 418: The art of forging

Grey and Werner quietly found themselves a seat near the front.

Once everyone was comfortably seated, Carter Smith, who was on the stage sitting calmly while sipping some sort of exotic alien tea, slowly stood up.

John nodded respectfully at his master. Soon, the world around them began to subtly change. This was in fact a small illusion array, a spatial shift in the environment that Grey noticed naturally.

”Ahem.” Carter Smith, who looked like an ordinary middle-aged man, cleared his throat loudly as he began speaking. ”Everyone, today we are gathered here to deeply discuss the true intricacies of smithery.”

”Since none of you are newly awakened novices, we will skip the rudimentary definitions. For us Evolvers, smithery is the delicate act of utilizing one’s cosmic energy to forcefully realign the atomic structure of an ore. We safely convert raw veins into usable materials for weapons, defensive armaments, spatial vessels, array cores, and auxiliary evolutionary tools.”

”With each breakthrough in rank, an Evolver must drastically increase their absolute mastery over energy control. Taking raw ore and purging its mortal impurities is merely the first threshold. True refinement is about violently compressing and binding the existing matrix of the metal with pure cosmic energy. You are physically giving the metal an imprint of the cosmos itself. Every single time a blacksmith hammers a raw ore, they are completely rewriting its structural destiny.”

He paused, letting the heavy weight of his words settle over the experienced crowd.

”You are all highly familiar with the refinement grades: Low, Middle, High, and finally, Peerless grade. For an ore to reach Low grade, a 10-fold refinement is strictly required. Middle grade demands a 100-fold refinement. High grade requires 500 folds, and to achieve a legendary Peerless grade, one must flawlessly execute 1000 folds of refinement without shattering the metallic core.”

”I myself am perfectly capable of utilizing the Thousand-Metric Refinement Art. With it, I can flawlessly forge a high-grade 4-Star ore, and even push my physical limits to forge a middle-grade 5-Star ore. To put that into perspective, a 5-Star ore boasts an internal energy density perfectly equivalent to a 4th Rank Evolver.”

As he spoke, a heavy, metallic anvil materialized on the grand stage, followed immediately by a deeply profound, silver-runed forging hammer. Without a shred of hesitation, he took out a massive chunk of precious cosmic ore. It was Black Cosmic Iron, the absolute foundational base for countless high-tier weapons across the galaxy.

Clank! His heavy hammer violently struck the black ore, and a searing hot, cosmic flame erupted from his very pores, completely enveloping the cold metal.

”For a blacksmith, the hammer is the absolute conduit of their will,” Carter continued, his steady voice echoing over the ringing metal. ”It is the primary tool we use to violently expel the natural impurities of an ore. We must actively change its structural integrity to a level that can perfectly withstand and channel the violent energy of an Evolver’s rank.”

”At the 4th Rank and onwards, true smithery finally begins. We do not just blindly forge metal. We actively weave profound law structures right into the very grain of the ore. For high-ranking Evolvers, laws are an inseparable, fundamental part of your existence. Certain highly conductive ores can actually be inscribed directly with Domain Force amplification or Origin Force resonance.”

Carter violently struck the Black Cosmic Iron again, sending blinding sparks of pure energy flying high into the illusionary sky.

”However, only a High-grade or Peerless-grade material naturally possesses the necessary stability to house these laws. A lesser ore would simply detonate under the sheer pressure of a true domain. But if a blacksmith can successfully embed these laws into a peerless vessel, the resulting amplification will be shown properly, turning a simple swing of a weapon into a localized natural disaster.”

Clank! Clank! Clank!

As he said that, the rhythmic, deafening sound of his hammer hitting the ore constantly rang out across the silent hall.

He did not stop until he had struck the ore exactly one hundred times precisely. With each devastating hit, the ore grew exponentially hotter and the sparks grew fiercely brighter. It was to the point where a visible energy forcefield naturally formed around the ore, desperately keeping it from completely shattering under the immense, crushing pressure.

This was a true atomic structural change. At this critical point, the universe itself would be actively forced to react. Under the crushing pressure of his refined control and his supreme art, the ore’s fundamental structure was being violently rewritten. And precisely because it was fundamentally changing its natural structure, the universe that strictly followed a set of cosmic rules was forced to intervene.

Of course, such miraculous occurrences usually only happened for 4-Star ores or higher. Because anything below that threshold was simply not potent enough to make a genuine difference to the vast starry sky.

Grey squinted his eyes sharply as he carefully observed the expert at work.

His heaven-defying comprehension was already actively working overtime.

Grey’s eyes glittered brilliantly when he saw this massive influx of information.

Indeed, his innate comprehension was absolutely unparalleled. He had directly comprehended a vastly more refined, perfect version of the Grandmaster’s very own technique.

Carter Smith was finally done with his exhaustive work. He heaved a heavy sigh of relief as a blindingly golden ore shone beautifully in front of him on the anvil.

This was the absolute result of a flawless 100-fold refinement on a 5-Star ore.

With this premium ore, one could effortlessly forge devastating weapons, use it for supreme formation cores, or use it as the base material for crafting cosmic artifacts and much more.

Grey’s own robot, Magnetron, for example, was successfully created from many different 4-Star refined ores.

Naturally, there were highly talented blacksmiths currently developing back on Star Blue as well.

”It is finally done,” Carter Smith smiled kindly. As he casually waved his hand, the glowing golden ore slowly rose from the heavy anvil for everyone in the audience to clearly see.
