Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1400: Chapter 1400: Hi! Little guy!

”Well, this is something else, isn’t it?” Zhang Lanxiang found it utterly unbelievable, ”Twins aren’t that easy to come by! It’s easier to carry a single child.”

”Exactly,” Zhang Lanxiang agreed.

In the eighties, family planning was in full swing, transitioning from allowing two children per household to just one.

But people couldn’t just switch their mindset that quickly.

Especially for farmers who relied on the weather for their crops, having boys meant having labor force, and having boys meant the family lineage would continue.

Military personnel had to respond to the call of the national policy even more so, resolutely sticking to having only one child.

When An Hao gave birth this time, it delighted Ning Yibin and his wife to no end.

”So, you asked because you saw An Hao had twins?” Zhang Yun finished her chicken soup, put down the bowl and said, ”My mother died early, only having me. My father’s family was poor as church mice, though not short on brothers and sisters, but because of the war, they either died or scattered. You all know the situation of the Ning family. An Hao’s family situation is simple! No twins there.”

”Right. The old folks say so, but it’s not always accurate!” said Zhang Lanxiang.

Zhang Jianguo and his wife had been here all morning, and An Hao had been asleep the whole time.

In the afternoon, quite a few more people came to visit her and the children.

Being a military leader, Ning Yibin’s subordinates came to congratulate him one after another, filling the hospital room with flowers, fruits, and eggs.

Zhang Yun remembered everyone’s names to invite them to sit together when the children’s one-month celebration came.

The ward buzzed with activity all day, thankfully it was a private room, otherwise it would have certainly disturbed others.

The day wore Zhang Yun out.

By evening, the old couple just couldn’t keep up anymore. Qin Jian insisted they go back to rest.

Zhang Yun urged Qin Jian to take good care of An Hao and the children, and finally, though still worried, she left due to sheer exhaustion.

An Hao was completely worn out, feeling as if she had slept through a lifetime, from early morning until midnight.

She wanted to open her eyes, but her eyelids felt so heavy...

Suddenly, she felt a chubby little hand scratching her face, and with great effort, An Hao opened her eyes; she saw a little one lying beside her, staring at her with round black eyes.

An Hao’s lips curved into a gentle smile as she softly said to him, ”Hi! Little one! Welcome to this world.”

Qin Jian was preparing formula for the baby; hearing An Hao’s voice, he quickly turned around: ”You’re awake?”

”Yeah,” An Hao saw Qin Jian with the milk bottle and couldn’t help but laugh, ”How does it feel to be promoted?”

Qin Jian walked over, kissed her forehead, and laughed, ”Not bad at all!”
