Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1361: Chapter 1361: Seeking Opinions

An Hao was somewhat embarrassed by the applause and praise, blushing on both cheeks: ”Everyone here is my elder! You’re really spoiling me! I’m no God of Wealth—the company’s success today is all thanks to your help! On the day of my dad’s birthday, it’s only right to give you all a big thank you.”

”We trust you! We trust the An Family! After all, the vegetable gardens you’ve started these past couple of years have brought us a lot of benefits,” Liu Xiaolian’s father said.

”That’s right. Our Erzhuzi mucked around outside for a year and didn’t amount to much. But coming back to the village and working with An Ping, these past two years I’ve actually saved some money.”

”In my opinion, the most honorable thing the An Family did was letting us buy shares. I really didn’t expect that. At first, I just thought that the An Family was prospering and had never forgotten our Shen Family. We’ve enjoyed the vegetables from the garden over the years, and the gifts during the holidays have never missed us. We’re truly moved,” said Shen Zhihua’s father.

Seeing everyone speaking so openly and from the heart, An Shuchao was also very moved: ”In the past years, the An Family had fallen on hard times—we were the tail end of the village! Many looked down on the An Family, but none of you did. They say it’s easy to add flowers to embroidery, but difficult to send coal in the snow. Our An Family’s toughest times were all weathered with your help. So, it’s us who should be thanking you.”

”In that case! Let’s cut the idle talk, and I’ll get straight to handing out the money!” An Hao said, and then took off the bag that was slung over his shoulder.

Qin Jian took it, pulled out a paper from it detailing how much money was initially loaned, what that represented in shares, and how much it earned.

The initial investments weren’t huge, but the company’s business boomed, with substantial profits.

Although the initial investments hadn’t been recouped, the company could still afford to pay out this amount! It was a way to give back to those who supported us through our toughest times.

Having finished speaking, An Hao sat to one side, and Qin Jian proceeded to distribute the profits to everyone.

One by one, as they received their money, their hearts swelled with joy. This was seeing a return on their investment!

After settling the company’s affairs, An Ping also rushed back. He entered the bustling room, exchanged a few warm greetings with everyone, and then went out to oversee the chefs preparing the feast.

By noon, three tables were laid out in the yard, bustling and ready for the feast to begin.

An Shuchao saw that almost everyone had arrived, and surveyed the tables to see who hadn’t been invited. His eyes scanned the crowd, and finally, he remembered they hadn’t invited Qin Ru Hai.

Though Qin Ru Hai’s wife and children weren’t much to talk about, he himself was a decent man, and his son-in-law was also a good person. Later, when it became known they needed money, he offered all the spare cash from his house.

While An Ping didn’t accept the money, Song Fei’s gesture was truly touching.

But still, he had to ask his daughter and son-in-law’s opinion on the matter. Regardless of anything else, Qin Ru Hai had always treated him like family.

Although he wasn’t strictly An Hao’s father-in-law, he was still somewhat like family to him.

So, before the feast began, he pulled Qin Jian and An Hao aside and asked, ”Today is my birthday, and I really should invite family. As you both know, the relationship between our two families has been somewhat less than ideal. So, I want to ask for your opinions.”
