Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1380: Chapter 1380 Absolutely a Good Actor

In the examination room, the doctor examined An Hao and then said, ”Your overall condition isn’t too bad. It looks like the baby won’t be too small.”

”Does that mean it might be difficult to deliver?” Qin Jian asked, somewhat worried.

”It depends on individual physique. But your wife is carrying twins, so even if they’re small, they should still weigh around six pounds, right? You really don’t need to worry too much,” the doctor replied.

”That relieves me,” Qin Jian said. Having no complications or surprises would be best.

”You should avoid running around for the next few days. Just stay at home and wait for the delivery, which I reckon could be in a day or two,” the doctor advised.

”Okay,” An Hao said, as she slowly stood up with Qin Jian’s support and took a deep breath. ”Honestly, I’m quite nervous.”

The doctor smiled, ”Just think about how relieved you’ll feel once the baby is born, that should ease your nerves.”

”Thank you, doctor. You’ve taken care of me throughout this pregnancy. Once I’ve given birth, I’ll definitely treat you to some celebration sweets.”

”Good. I’ll be waiting for your good news.”

After their conversation ended, Qin Jian helped An Hao out of the room, and they bumped into Song Yueqin as they were leaving.

Both were startled.

”You’re pregnant? Here for a check-up?” An Hao asked first.

”Yes. Why, is there something wrong with that? Does it mean that only you can be pregnant, and no one else can?” Song Yueqin responded haughtily, chin lifted, staring down An Hao.

This arrogant attitude was completely different from before.

”Song Yueqin. Today has truly been an eye-opener. You should be in Szechwan opera with that face changing act—no props needed! You’d be an excellent actor,” An Hao retorted without hesitation.

”You call me an actor? Your words are too harsh,” Song Yueqin said, her face turning bright red. An Hao braced herself for what was coming, but instead, Song Yueqin suddenly turned and coyly called out, ”Qin Fen! Mom! Look, this is just too much bullying.”

Qin Fen and Li Junping had been waiting outside. Hearing Song Yueqin’s call, they hurried to the doorway.

Seeing An Hao, their faces instantly fell.

”Truly, misfortune runs into those who least expect it,” Qin Fen spat on the ground.

”That line should be mine,” An Hao said, squinting at him. ”Qin Fen, don’t waste your energy causing trouble. We each walk our own paths under the sky. Let’s act as if we don’t know each other.”

”Right. We, the Qin family, don’t need a daughter-in-law like you,” Liu Junping said, her sense of triumph growing as she looked down on An Hao more and more.

”Qin Fen! Mom!” Qin Jian said sternly, shielding An Hao behind him. ”An Hao has been patient enough with you all. I hope this is the last time I see you treating her like this. I also hope you will cherish the little affection that remains! Don’t grind away the last shred of my regard for you.”

”What do you mean by that? Are you saying you could disown your own mother?” Liu Junping challenged, hands on hips.

”I can. If you push me past my limits, that’s when our mother-son relationship ends,” Qin Jian said coldly, his tone decisive as he escorted An Hao away.

”Qin Jian...” An Hao said, looking up at him as if recalling something, ”I think I’ve discovered something quite serious.”

”It’s alright,” Qin Jian thought An Hao was referring to their decision to cut ties, ”If things have reached a point of no return, then there’s no need to salvage them. I can’t let them endlessly wear down your patience.”

”It’s not that,” An Hao shook her head, ”I’m talking about Song Yueqin being pregnant. She, she shouldn’t be pregnant at all!!”
