Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1392: Chapter 1392: As Long As You’re By My Side

”Okay, enough chitchat. Now let’s move on to the open discussion.” Zhang Jianguo saw the topic veering off course and hurriedly steered it back.

The wife of the old commander was giving birth, and he felt it necessary to show his concern.

Besides, his own wife and An Hao were very close friends. No matter how one looked at it, he had to pay a visit.

...

Qin Jian rushed back home, only to find it empty. Upon going upstairs, he saw that all the things An Hao had prepared the night before were gone, and he knew clearly that she must have already gone to the hospital.

So, he hurried downstairs and made his way to the military district’s general hospital.

Zhang Yun had booked the ward in advance, which Qin Jian knew, so as soon as he arrived at the hospital, he went straight upstairs.

He entered the ward and saw An Hao, with her belly bulging, walking back and forth in pain, leaning on Zhang Yun’s hand, her face streaked with tears.

”What’s going on here? Why isn’t she resting when she’s about to give birth? She’s in so much pain, yet still walking around?” Qin Jian was heartbroken to see An Hao struggling.

”You’re finally here,” Zhang Yun felt much more relieved to see Qin Jian arrive. ”Come on, help your wife walk around more. The doctor said it helps open the cervix faster.”

”But she looks in so much pain. Is that okay?” Qin Jian was about to become a father for the first time and had never witnessed childbirth before. Naturally, he understood nothing.

Just seeing his young wife in such agony made him feel terrible.

”Every woman must go through this. Don’t worry, the doctor said An Hao is in good health! Childbirth shouldn’t be a difficult task for her. Listen to the doctor, and you won’t go wrong,” Zhang Yun advised her son.

”Okay.” Qin Jian stepped forward, supporting An Hao as they walked step by step.

The contractions were getting more frequent. It had been five to six hours from the afternoon, and the cervix was still not fully dilated.

This was a very painful experience for a first-time mother.

After moving around for a while, An Hao could no longer bear it and asked to return to the bed.

Qin Jian stayed by her side, holding An Hao’s hands tightly, encouraging her, ”Wife, hang in there. I know how uncomfortable you are, but think about the arrival of our two little ones into this world. It’s such a joyful and proud occasion!”

”I know,” An Hao said through sweat and pain, ”as long as you are with me, I’m not worried or scared!”

”Mm.”

”Qin Jian, my back hurts so much. Can you rub it for me?”

”Okay.”

An Hao couldn’t eat dinner, so she didn’t have any.

Zhang Jianguo and his wife also rushed over to cheer for An Hao, and Zhang Lanxiang even exaggeratedly shared her childbirth experience with An Hao.

This successfully diverted her attention, making the time less unbearable.

The contractions continued until the early hours of the morning, and An Hao felt the pain intensifying, averaging once a minute.

After the doctor’s check-up, they told her she could now go into the delivery room.

At the door of the delivery room, Qin Jian held An Hao’s hand and asked her, ”Are you nervous? Scared?”

An Hao managed a pained smile, ”Not scared! And not nervous! I know you are waiting for me, and so are our two children!”

”Don’t be afraid. We’re all waiting for you outside the door. We won’t leave for a second,” Zhang Yun reassured An Hao.

”Wait for me. Wait for me to come out.” With those words, An Hao walked into the delivery room.

The door closed, separating two worlds.
