Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1352: Chapter 1352: Send the Buddha to the West

”This...” Lin Qiushu thought for a moment, and then reluctantly agreed, ”Okay then. Since you, my elder sister, have put it that way, I’ll go the extra mile and take you home.”

”That’s more like it,” Li Junping said with a clap on her thigh, her mood lifted. She grabbed her bag from the table and followed Lin Qiushu into the car.

The rain kept pouring down from the sky, and the roads had already started to accumulate water.

Li Junping sat comfortably in the car, watching people outside rushing through the pouring rain, feeling utterly content.

”I never thought that in my lifetime, I’d get to ride in such a luxurious car again. If I told them about it, they’d be green with envy.”

Lin Qiushu laughed with a ’pfft’ at her words.

”What’s so funny, little sister?” Li Junping asked, a bit embarrassed, ”We, the tillers of the soil, face the earth and turn our backs to the heavens, scraping a living from the land our whole lives. We rely on the sky for our meals. If the heavens are generous, we have food to eat. If not, and it’s drought one year and floods the next, then you can forget about having a full stomach.”

”I understand that farmers have it hard,” Lin Qiushu added in agreement.

”That’s why it’s not easy for us to ride in such cars, and today I’m really basking in your light,” Li Junping said, truly moved.

To think that she had never even ridden in Qin Jian’s military vehicle until now.

”In the future, I’ll give you the chance to ride again, elder sister.”

”Thank you, little sister. You’re a truly good person.”

The two chatted in the car for a while until Li Junping began to feel dizzy and stifled.

Being used to riding in tractors and ox carts, the sudden shift to this securely enclosed car made her feel extremely uncomfortable.

Seeing that her face was turning pale, Lin Qiushu had the driver stop the car.

”You might feel better if you sit in the front seat, elder sister.”

Upon hearing Lin Qiushu’s suggestion, Li Junping quickly moved to the front seat, fixing her gaze on the distant curtain of rain, and fell silent.

The car grew quiet, and Lin Qiushu leaned back in her seat, pondering quietly to herself.

It seemed that Li Junping didn’t have a clear idea about the origins of the jade bracelet either, and now her hopes rested on Li Junping’s husband.

If she could learn the origin of the jade bracelet through him, it would really save her a lot of effort.

That way, her time today wouldn’t have been wasted.

And so, the car made its way into the village, but halfway there, it couldn’t go any further.

Consequently, Lin Qiushu opened the car door, took an umbrella from the trunk to shelter them, and accompanied Li Junping the rest of the way to her home.

It didn’t take long for the two to reach the Qin Family’s home.

Qin Ru Hai was just right there, standing at the doorway under a sheepskin umbrella watching the rain, and when he saw an unfamiliar girl accompanying Li Junping home, he felt quite puzzled.

”Who is this?” Qin Ru Hai asked.

”A kind soul,” Li Junping glared at him and ordered, ”Hurry back inside, boil water, and prepare tea to welcome our guest.”

Upon hearing this, Lin Qiushu hurriedly waved her hands and said, ”There’s no need. Elder sister, I’m relieved to have brought you safely home. It’s getting late, and I should be heading back.”

”No, that won’t do,” Li Junping held onto Lin Qiushu’s hand tightly and said, ”You’ve come from so far to bring me back from the city, how could I not offer you a drink and just let you return? That would be too thoughtless of me.”

”Really, elder sister, there’s no need...”

”No more talk, follow me inside, at least let’s drink a couple of cups of hot tea,” said Li Junping, insisting, as she pulled Lin Qiushu into her home.
