Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1345: Chapter 1345: I’ve Raised You for Thirty Years for Nothing

It’s no wonder he would forget; during this period, perhaps Wang Jiu was more subdued, which caused him to fade from memory.

”Jianzi, what exactly is going on? What beef do you have with that Wang Jiu? Why did he take out his anger on Qin Fen?” Li Junping asked anxiously.

”This issue actually stemmed from when Qin Fen and Song Yueqin went to the city for the Lantern Festival. They got into a fight over a lantern. By the time I arrived, Qin Fen was being beaten, so I taught Wang Jiu a lesson,” Qin Jian explained briefly.

”This is truly a sin, a real sin,” Li Junping said tearfully, looking at Qin Jian and pleading with him once more, ”Please, quickly get your brother out of that detention center. If you don’t get him out soon, he’ll be beaten to death.”

”You don’t need to worry too much about that; I’ll speak with the people at the detention center and ask them to keep an eye on Qin Fen,” Qin Jian assured Li Junping.

No matter what, he was still his brother.

If his brother was beaten, he couldn’t just stand by and watch.

”Get him out, don’t let him stay in there,” Li Junping urged earnestly, ”The prison guards there simply can’t keep watch. If they could, Qin Fen wouldn’t have been beaten, right?”

”Definitely not,” Qin Jian decisively refused Li Junping’s unreasonable request, ”Detaining him for three months is a measure carried out by the public security agency in accordance with national law. I can’t ignore the law, asserting that I can just pull someone out as I please!”

”What?” Li Junping was completely flabbergasted, staring fixedly at Qin Jian with burning anger and said, ”It would only take a word from you, so why won’t you get your brother out? Do you want to watch Qin Fen get beaten to death?”

”I am a soldier! I must abide by the laws of the country! I cannot commit such a crime of bending the law for personal benefit! Mother, if you want me to take a crooked path, then you can keep making it difficult for me here,” Qin Jian replied to his foster mother without a shred of mercy.

Li Junping’s eyes bulged like walnuts, she pointed at Qin Fen, her chest heaving with anger, ”Are you holding a grudge against me? Just because last time at home, I said An Hao wasn’t my daughter-in-law, and you stopped considering yourself a member of the Qin Family, right? Is it because you want revenge on me that you’re not taking care of Qin Fen? How can your blood be so cold! Have I really raised you for thirty years in vain?”

”That’s not what I’m saying,” Qin Jian calmly explained, ”A country has its laws, and a family has its rules; you can’t ask me to trample over the law. I’ve already said that I won’t ignore Qin Jian. But to pull him out, I cannot do that. By doing this, you are not saving Qin Fen; instead, you are harming him. It will only make him think he has a backer, guiding him to commit even more reckless acts in the future.”

The reasons Qin Jian gave Li Junping were just a couple among others.

There was also a third reason: Qin Fen had fought An Ping and almost caused a fatal incident.

He had ruined the An family’s business and divulged their trade secrets.

As the An family’s son-in-law, he could not solely support his own brother; he also needed to consider his brother-in-law and father-in-law’s feelings.

The most important thing was that he must take his wife’s feelings into account.

He felt that An Hao had already given Qin Fen enough face.

She, as his sister-in-law, had already done all she could in the name of righteousness! Thus, considering all factors, he believed that detaining Qin Fen for three months was the best punishment for him.
