Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1309: Chapter 1309: It Really is a Protest!

”I understand how you feel,” Qin Jian gently caressed An Hao’s belly, ”but having them is going to be hard on you.”

”It’s not hard. The women in the village work in the fields even when they are pregnant! They even carry water and cook! I’m not doing anything, just going home to deal with some family matters. You don’t need to worry about me,” An Hao said, nestling in Qin Jian’s arms.

”Alright. I’ll send you back,” Qin Jian said regretfully, ”but I’m afraid I can’t be with you every day. But if there’s any difficulty at home, you must tell me! I will come back to see you from time to time!”

”Mm,” An Hao nodded.

At breakfast, An Hao informed her in-laws of the situation, expressing her desire to go home for a while.

Zhang Yun felt sorry for her daughter-in-law, but there was no choice, with so many issues arising in her daughter-in-law’s family, she couldn’t just keep her from leaving.

Having no choice, she agreed.

Before leaving, she made An Hao promise again and again to take good care of herself and the child.

With the army busy during this period, Qin Jian couldn’t personally escort An Hao.

Ning Yibin then arranged for his guard, Xiaoliu, to escort An Hao.

Before departing, Qin Jian hugged An Hao, gently kissed her forehead, and said, ”Go on! Finish up early and come back soon.”

”Mm,” An Hao nodded.

He then crouched down, and through An Hao’s belly, he spoke to the child inside: ”You two little guys need to behave! Follow your mom and don’t make trouble. Otherwise, the first thing your dad will do when you come out is sort you out, understand?”

It seemed as if the two little ones understood Qin Jian’s words, as they kicked fiercely through An Hao’s belly.

”Ouch!” An Hao quickly covered her belly.

”What’s wrong? Did they kick hard?” Qin Jian asked hurriedly.

”No.”

”That’s good,” Qin Jian nodded and said, ”It’s good as long as they know to be afraid.”

”I wonder if they are protesting?”

”Protesting?” Qin Jian frowned and lightly flicked An Hao’s belly with the back of his finger, ”If they don’t behave, I really will sort them out!”

No sooner had he spoken than two more kicks came from the belly!

”They really are protesting! Can they actually understand?” Qin Jian exclaimed in surprise.

As Zhang Yun came upstairs to urge An Hao to set off, she caught this scene.

She stood in the doorway, unable to keep from laughing: ”How childish! And he’s about to be a father!”

A suspicious red blush rose on Qin Jian’s ears as he quickly stood up.

”Let’s go! I’ll come to see you in a couple of days!”

”Mm-hm!”

Guard Xiaoliu drove An Hao back to the village.

In the past, he had only taken her to the entrance of the village, but this time he went out of his way to drop her right at her doorstep.

Before An Hao could enter the house, she saw a group of villagers milling around the entrance, pointing and discussing something.

As she walked closer, she heard the villagers talking about her family’s affairs.

”Isn’t it strange? The hail yesterday was so heavy, every household’s crops were damaged. But the An family suffered the most, their vegetables were completely smashed to pieces!”

”Exactly. They’ve made a lot of money over the years, they must have done some shady deals, right?”

”Who knows? Everyone in the village said their family had the best luck. I think their good luck is used up, now only bad luck remains.”

An Hao listened to their harsh words, thinking, so earning a little money offended the whole village?

Her family suffered a disaster, and everyone ran to the doorstep to watch the spectacle!
