Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1334: Chapter 1334: Teaching a Man to Fish is Better Than Giving Him a Fish

”Quite a lot have come,” Lin Qiushu muttered softly as she stirred the bird’s nest soup, seemingly pondering something.

”Qiushu, take me to the store someday to have a look. I want to see with my own eyes what that bracelet looks like,” the elderly lady said, clutching Qiushu’s sleeve with eager anticipation.

”Grandma, don’t worry,” Lin Qiushu set the bird’s nest bowl aside and patted her hand gently, ”You’ll definitely see the bracelet. But right now, your health isn’t up to it. I’m afraid that if you get too excited after seeing it, what if you faint again?”

”It’s fine. This old lady has lived more than half a lifetime, what storms haven’t I weathered? Just for this, how could I possibly faint upon seeing it? You really underestimate your grandma,” the old woman said.

”You should listen to me on this,” Lin Qiushu insisted on her own idea, ”Wait another two days until you’re almost well, then we’ll go to the store!”

”She won’t back out halfway this time, will she?” the elderly lady asked.

”Not at all. She has now opened a vegetable wholesale company in Nancheng City; all her initial capital has gone into it, and she’s waiting for the follow-up funds! Once the bracelet is sold, she’ll have money to invest. I’ve already had someone inquire about her family’s situation. This time I think she’s truly desperate, otherwise she wouldn’t have been coming to our house for such a long time,” Lin Qiushu was confident about the matter.

”That’s good,” the old woman was reassured.

Unfortunately, the bracelet was a fragile item, and her family lived in a heavily guarded military area. If not for that, she would have had someone steal it back long ago.

Soon everything would become clear.

”Yes, we can’t underestimate her husband’s family background,” Lin Qiushu sighed, ”But that woman is indeed not simple. After selling the bracelet, the money would be enough for their family to live without worry. Why go through so much effort to run a vegetable wholesale company? It’s time-consuming and laborious!”

”That shows she is a far-sighted person. Who knows what the future society will be like? As the saying goes, ’Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime!’” The elderly lady clearly understood An Hao’s mentality.

..........................

In the village.

The An Family’s yard was packed with people, each holding up money high as they waited in line.

”I’ll give two hundred!”

”Fifty from me.”

”Three hundred and fifty...”

An Ping sat there, jotting down their names, and said, ”I will return this money to you in three months, with a ten percent interest rate!”

As soon as the words were out, the crowd surged even more.

In less than an hour, An Ping had a thick stack of money in his hands.

This time, he was much more cautious; with every sum of money received, he made sure the villagers confirmed and signed.

In one day, the village had raised nearly five thousand yuan. People also believed that the An Family had the ability to recover the money, so they confidently handed over the funds and went home with the IOU, waiting for the ten percent interest in three months.

With the money in hand, An Ping returned to the city and handed it over to An Hao.

”It seems the crowdfunding worked out quite well,” An Hao said with a smile, ”Apart from the high interest, it’s all acceptable.”

”Yes, sister! So, we still need to wait for that bracelet of yours to sell quickly,” An Ping said.
