Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1337: Chapter 1337: Snatching Business Right at the Doorstep

So, he truly made up his mind this time and quoted a price she deemed astronomical.

An Hao turned to glance at Qin Jian, who also gently shook his head. With a bit more certainty in her heart, she said, ”Store owner, I am not very satisfied with the price you’ve quoted. I think I’ll try another store.”

It was then that Xiaozhu from Baozhen Jade Store, who had chatted with An Hao before, walked into the store and said to An Hao with a smile, ”Wow, what a coincidence! You’re here! Oh right, our store owner is back. Weren’t you looking for her several times? She has finally returned.”

An Hao smiled slightly, ”Your timing couldn’t be better! I’ll go find her right now.”

No sooner had she finished speaking than An Hao and Qin Jian left the Jade Store.

As they left, the owner of that Jade Store was so enraged that he thumped his chest and stamped his feet, ”Ancestors! Go tell your store owner, it’s not right to do business this way, to come all the way to poach customers.”

Xiaozhu cheerfully took a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket, drew one out, and handed it to the Jade Store owner, ”You’re not being very righteous here! Didn’t we have an agreement? If any ordinary jade came in, our owner would refer all the business to you. But, once this jade bracelet appeared, you were supposed to notify our owner, right? What happened then? Our owner has referred quite a bit of business to you, but you? It seems you were planning to double-cross, huh?”

”You can’t blame me for that... That bracelet indeed is a fine piece of jade. Who wouldn’t be tempted by it? Moreover, that young woman came to our Jade Store first. That bracelet should have been mine by all rights. If it weren’t for your boss suddenly showing up, would she have been able to claim that bracelet?” the store owner said.

”Didn’t I tell you? That bracelet has special significance to our boss. She only wants that one! Since you agreed, you have to keep your word, right? This month, our boss has referred three big deals to your business. It’s said that a Jade Store can go half a year without opening, then open and make six months’ worth of sales. The business our boss brought to you should last you a few years, right? That big boss who returned from Hong Kong sure dropped a lot of money here, didn’t he?”

”Fine, fine. Just go! I can’t argue with you.” Watching that good bracelet become unattainable, the Jade Store owner’s heart truly chilled.

”I can’t go back empty-handed. Here, just give me some pendant or something. Let me have something to show for it...”

”You... You’ve already come to take advantage, and you still want to take something from me...”

.........

When An Hao arrived at Baozhen Jade Store, she had just stepped in when Lin Qiushu came out from behind the counter with a smile, ”An Hao, you’ve come? I’ve been told you visited several times without finding me. I truly apologize...”

”It’s natural for a businessperson like Boss Lin to be busy,” An Hao said with a gentle smile.

”It wasn’t that. It’s because of my grandmother...” As she spoke, Lin Qiushu told one of the employees, ”Go to the back and help the old lady come out.”

”No need. My old bones are still sturdy. I don’t need people to fuss over me all the time.” Just as the words were spoken, the elderly grandmother came out leaning on a dragon-headed cane.

”The elderly lady is your grandmother!” An Hao just then understood the relationship between the two.

”Yes! My grandmother’s life was saved thanks to you and your husband a while back. She is very grateful to both of you and has always wanted to thank you in person.”
