Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1319: Chapter 1319: If You Don’t Grow Vegetables, You’ll End Up Drinking the Northwest Wind

”This...”

”The vegetables you see are the only batch left in our field! We are now supplying all of them to you. There are no vegetables left in the field, so I can compensate you with the penalty fee for breach of contract,” An Hao said calmly.

”Well then, whatever you say, that’s how it’ll be,” the factory manager remarked.

He had also heard this through the grapevine; he couldn’t possibly demand they pay everything just because of a comment, could he?

Despite her young age, he felt she possessed considerable business acumen.

Seeing her calm gaze and the composed manner in which she spoke, he knew this girl was no ordinary person.

It seemed that the real decision-maker of the An Family garden was right here!

After the factory manager left, An Hao twisted her hefty body and returned inside.

An Ping hurriedly followed An Hao and entered, ”Sister, do we really have to pay them? Is there no other way?”

”No,” An Hao shook her head.

”It feels terrible inside...” An Ping said, clutching his collar.

”There’s nothing we can do. Your contract had issues from the start. Consider this a costly lesson,” Facing such a tricky situation, there was no choice but to accept the misfortune.

”Sis, if we pay out all this money, what will we use to make a comeback?”

”Let’s just deal with the current situation first,” An Hao said.

The next morning, An Ping and Erzhuzi went to the credit union to withdraw all the money to pay the shoe factory’s manager.

This left the family truly destitute.

Back home, his mood was extremely low. He sat on the doorstep, not saying a word.

An Shuchao’s illness was mostly recovered, and seeing An Ping upset, he too sat on the doorstep, puffing away at his dry tobacco.

After An Hao woke from her nap, she saw the father and son sitting by the door as soon as she got up.

”What’s wrong with you two?”

”Worrying,” All their previously accumulated wealth had washed away, who could feel good about that?

An Hao smiled and walked over to them.

An Ping quickly got up and brought a stool from inside for An Hao to sit down.

”Stop worrying. When the old leaves, the new arrives,” An Hao said.

”What does that mean?” Listening to An Hao, it seemed she had figured out some new method.

”You’ve seen the risks of growing vegetables. When there’s an oversupply in the market, prices drop, and when there’s a shortage, prices rise. Also, you have to consider droughts, thunderstorms, and various other unexpected factors,”

”Sis, you’re absolutely right. But our business is selling vegetables,” An Ping remarked.

”Think about it, is there a way to avoid these risks?” An Hao asked with a smile.

”There is. That would be not growing vegetables at all,” An Ping replied.

”If we don’t farm, we might as well starve,” An Hao glared at him, ”Was gathering these vegetables the past few days all for nothing?”

”Sis, what do you mean by that?”

Seeing that An Ping still couldn’t grasp the intent, An Hao decided not to beat around the bush and spoke directly, ”I’ve thought a lot these days. When you guys were doing market research last time, a preliminary idea crossed my mind, but it wasn’t mature then.”

”You have a new idea?” An Shuchao, hearing his daughter had an idea, immediately perked up, staring intently at her.

”Start a vegetable wholesale company,” An Hao slowly said, ”That way, we can skip the production phase and take control of the second phase instead.”
