Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1050: Chapter 1050: A Point of No Return

”Then you can go down and try! I guarantee the moment you show up, you’ll be shot into a hornet’s nest,” Luo Gang said coldly, his eyes calm like deep waters.

”What should we do then? Are we supposed to wander around like lost souls?”

”We should listen to Brother Luo! He has led us several times, and we have never...”

Before he could finish, Luo Gang’s expression turned fierce, and he quickly drew his gun.

The moment the bullet was chambered, there was a snap, and the person beside him fell to the ground.

”There’s an ambush ahead,” Luo Gang yelled, ”Everyone, get down!”

Immediately, everyone lay down on the spot, drawing their guns and chambering their bullets.

In the darkness, Qin Jian used hand signals to communicate with the people around him.

Previously, the prey had entered the ambush circle, and a guerrilla fight had taken out nearly a third of his men.

As for the remaining two-thirds, it was time for a skirmish.

Face to face, fight it out! They must annihilate the enemy completely!

At his command, gunshots suddenly erupted.

At the foot of the mountain, Captain Wang of the Criminal Investigation Brigade was smoking when he suddenly heard intense gunfire from the mountain.

”They’ve encountered them!”

”Captain, it looks like they’re not planning to break through.”

After pondering for a moment, Captain Wang said, ”Everyone check your weapons and ammunition, stand by at your current positions!”

”Yes!”

After finishing his cigarette, Captain Wang noticed that the gunfire in the deep mountains had significantly decreased, and the most intense battle must have passed.

It seemed there weren’t many of them left.

From the sound of gunshots, he guessed that the ones who suffered the most deaths and injuries were probably the criminals, who mostly used handguns.

After waiting a little longer, there was no further gunfire.

The detectives waiting at the foot of the mountain grew restless, ”Captain, should we go up and check?”

”No! Our task is to stay at the foot of the mountain, waiting for them to break through, not to search the mountain!” Captain Wang said, ”There must still be fugitives who have not been cleared! Otherwise, they would definitely have signaled us. Let’s wait patiently!”

In the woods, the cold wind howled.

Corpses lay strewn on the ground; despite some soldiers being injured in this battle, there were no deaths.

All those killed were members of the criminal gang.

Except for the man standing before him, holding a gun aimed right at Qin Jian’s forehead, his facial scar becoming clearer in the dawn’s early light.

”Luo Gang, you’re cornered! Put down your weapon and surrender,” Qin Jian said, standing opposite him, his hands steadying a rifle, his gaze as serene as water.

”Surrender is a road to death! If I don’t put down the gun, perhaps I still have a slim chance of survival!” Luo Gang said calmly, ”You want to shoot? Then let’s compare. Let’s see if the legendary figure from the Northern Military Region can outshoot the myth of the Iron-blooded Corps. Whichever of us lives gets to collect the other’s body.”

”You’re not getting out today no matter what!” Qin Jian said, looking at him, ”Those six fresh lives need someone to pay the price. I can’t believe you, a veteran who has seen battle, did not tremble when you were harming your own brothers.”

Luo Gang’s forehead vein twitched, ”Enough talk. Let’s just do it!”

”Can’t face it? They were all just kids! Eighteen, nineteen! The future of our country! Their lives hadn’t even had a chance to bloom before they withered under your gun,” Qin Jian finished, his eyes heating up, ”How could you, once the King of Soldiers, choose such a path of no return!”
