Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1019: Chapter 1019: Really Can’t Make It Without Women

The guard escorted An Hao home, and the door was locked with no one around. An Hao took out her key to unlock the door and invited Xiaoliu inside.

Xiaoliu set down his belongings and prepared to leave, ”Sister-in-law, I must hurry back now! Whenever you’ve had enough of your stay, I’ll come to pick you up!”

An Hao didn’t insist on him staying. She turned around and took two boxes of water chestnut cakes from her own purchases and handed them to Xiaoliu, ”You’ve worked hard this year! Take these home for your family to try.”

”I am the Commander’s guard, these matters are all part of the job... Sister-in-law, no need to thank me! I can’t accept these,” Xiaoliu declined.

”You must take them! The New Year is approaching, and this is my heartfelt gesture!” An Hao insisted, stuffing the gifts into Xiaoliu’s hands and ushering him out, while reminding him, ”Remember, when you have time, stop by the mall and bring my coat back if it’s arrived.”

After the guard left, An Hao organized everything she had brought.

In the afternoon, she planned to visit her neighbors.

For now, she decided to tidy up her own room a bit since she was going to stay for a while, and she couldn’t stand the dirtiness.

She had always loved cleanliness, and since studying medicine, she had even developed a bit of a germophobia.

No sooner said than done, An Hao went to the kitchen, lit the stove for hot water, found a rag, and began dusting the house, then proceeded to sweep the floor.

Her own room was easy to tidy up, being unoccupied for a long time without any clutter, it was clean in no time.

But An Ping’s and her father’s rooms were terrible, utterly chaotic!

Especially An Ping’s room, it was no place for living, but rather like a pigsty! Dirty socks scattered everywhere, bedding clumped up, clothes flying all around, and bowls on the desk whose contents had grown mold from being left out in the cold.

The smell in this room could make one vomit in minutes!

”It seems a home without a woman just doesn’t work,” An Hao remarked as she opened the windows to air out the rooms before carting the bedding outside to air.

She cleaned all the dirty clothes with hot water, tidied up the house, and sterilized the dishes by boiling them in hot water! She also replaced the broken curtains on the bed in An Shuchao’s room.

After everyone was taken care of, she didn’t stop for a moment and went to the kitchen to make hand-rolled noodles, then cooked a garlic sprout and marinated pork sauce, arranging the noodles in bowls and topping them with the sauce, placing one bowl after another on the table.

When it was all done, An Hao was feeling sore all over her back.

She used to be skilled at household chores, never finding them tiring, but today she truly pushed her limits.

She had just sat down when she heard An Shuchao and An Ping talking outside the door.

”Dad! Why are my blankets outside? And my clothes, my shoes, could our house have been burgled?”

”Have you ever seen a thief who washes your clothes and airs your bedding! It must be your sister who’s back!” An Shuchao joyfully said, ”It’s been half a year since that girl was home!”

No sooner had An Shuchao finished speaking, An Hao walked out from the house, standing at the door of the north room and smiling at the duo, ”Dad! An Ping, I’m back!”

”Good to have you back! So glad you’re here!” An Shuchao, seeing his daughter standing there, was so happy he felt like crying, ”Don’t rush off this time, stay a bit longer!”

”Yes, I will definitely stay for a few more days!” An Hao said with a smile.
