Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1013: Chapter 1013: Chaotic Security

”This man is no simple character!” Hen Zhiyuan let out a deep sigh, ”The division he was previously in has been disbanded entirely. Although he wasn’t in the same division as me, his reputation is widely recognized. Everyone knows of him. The reason for their disbandment was that their division was too formidable, like a den of tigers and wolves. They were so outstanding that they were broken up and dispersed among various weaker units to improve the overall combat quality by setting an example!”

Now, he has returned!

As the staff officer of the regiment, he also held a deputy position, and aiming for the position of regimental commander was an inevitable consideration!

”No wonder!” Ruan Fangfang felt a bit downcast, but her uncle’s affairs were far more important compared to hers.

It’s often said that it’s good to lean on a big tree for shade, the key is to see how big the tree is!

The bigger, the better, of course!

She was looking forward to her uncle securing this position!

”Don’t worry, since he can’t come before the New Year, we’ll make a move during the New Year at General Guan’s place! It’s always beneficial, isn’t it?”

Hen Zhiyuan nodded. He had waited too long for this position; he was determined to get it!

.......................................

Qin Jian and An Hao arrived home, and it was already past lunchtime.

As soon as she got back, An Hao headed straight to the kitchen to look for food.

Seeing there were leftovers from lunch, she planned to heat them up and eat!

”What’s this? You two haven’t eaten yet, and it’s so late? What time is it?” Zhang Yun couldn’t help but scold her son, ”You’re used to roughing it in the army, and it’s fine if you go days without food, but An Hao has to eat! She needs to eat well to nourish her body so she can get pregnant!”

”I know, Mom! We ran into some trouble today, and we only just managed to resolve it before coming home,” An Hao said while preparing to heat the leftovers.

”Don’t eat leftovers! Let’s cook some fresh food!” As she spoke, Zhang Yun began to help An Hao by picking vegetables.

”It’s not necessary, Mom! Is there any leftover rice from lunch?” She decided to just make some fried rice.

”There is.” Zhang Yun brought over the rice.

An Hao cracked two eggs, stirred them into a golden liquid, and poured it over the rice. She then chopped up some diced garlic shoots and pickled radish, added them into the hot oil for a quick fry, and then mixed in the rice coated with egg.

Within ten minutes, a large plate of fragrant fried rice was ready, and she also served two bowls of tofu soup.

Qin Jian loved the meals An Hao cooked, and once he started eating, he couldn’t stop.

Ning Yibin put down the newspaper and, seeing his son wolf down his food, asked curiously, ”Were you in the hospital all morning?”

”No! We ran into trouble on the way!” Qin Jian intended to share the incident with Ning Yibin but feared worrying him.

After all, the incident with Cheng Yu had frightened them enough.

If they heard that An Hao had been targeted, they would undoubtedly be concerned.

So he changed how he described it: ”On the way, we ran into a gang of ruffians who were trying to rob us, so I got held up dealing with them.”

”The public security in the city has really worsened lately!” Ning Yibin, although not in the military, was still aware of the local situation, ”Street thugs and hooligans are everywhere. I don’t understand how the public security in Nancheng City is maintaining the safety of the people!”

”It’s like this all over the country,” Qin Jian said, ”The Northwest region is even more rampant!”

With their conversation, An Hao started to recall something.

In another life, during the transition between the eighties and nineties, public security was very poor nationwide.

Major criminal cases were occurring everywhere!

”If you encounter such things, it’s good to intervene if you can,” Ning Yibin remarked.

”Of course, I would intervene. But, the gang of ruffians I encountered today has shown up more than once within a year! They should have been sentenced by now! Yet, I keep running into them! There must be something fishy going on!” Qin Jian commented.
