Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1038: Chapter 1038: The Mysterious Criminal

”Yes, sir!” Qin Jian saluted with a military salute.

The next morning, at eight o’clock, with less than eight days left until the Spring Festival.

After examining the crime scene, the police confirmed that the perpetrators belonged to a gang! This gang of criminals were known highway robbers, registered with the Public Security Bureau! They robbed large vehicles on the road! They had taken numerous lives and were even involved in illegally smuggling firearms and gang members across the border.

The gang had roughly sixty to seventy members, each more reckless than the last!

They had actually set their sights on the military!

The Public Security Bureau urged that the case be solved within seven days, to completely crush this ruthless gang of desperados! To ensure a peaceful and serene Spring Festival for the entire nation.

Since the military and police were to join forces for this investigation, naturally, they needed to analyze the case together.

As a representative of the military, Qin Jian personally went to Yuchuan City Public Security Bureau to participate in the analysis of the case and to formulate the arrest plan.

When Qin Jian arrived, almost everyone was already there, and Captain Li of the Criminal Investigation Team began to analyze the case.

”We have struck against this gang multiple times, yet we never completely eradicated them; new forces continually join them! But, this gang became suddenly very active in the past two months! They frequently committed crimes! And their methods were very efficient! On several occasions, the victims were shot dead through the center of their foreheads. The shooter’s marksmanship was extremely precise... as if the gunman had an artistic touch...”

Qin Jian quietly listened to Captain Li’s analysis, a vague silhouette gradually forming in his mind.

”This person... has a very strong counter-surveillance capability... able to dominate the entire gang...”

”Preliminary estimates suggest this individual was likely once an excellent scout... possibly acting in a military role within the gang as well.”

After Captain Li finished speaking, Qin Jian’s brows furrowed tightly together, the familiar profile confirming his intuition.

It must be him!

”Captain Li! What is the current whereabouts of the criminal gang?” Qin Jian asked in a deep voice.

”We are searching. Once we discover any traces, we will immediately proceed with the arrest!” The Spring Festival was drawing closer and closer, and they were running out of time.

If they failed to solve the case before the Spring Festival, the consequences would be dire; even deploying all the national police forces might not guarantee a peaceful Spring Festival for the people.

”The criminal you just analyzed, do we have a portrait? Or a name?” Qin Jian wanted to confirm the identity of the suspect.

”No name! This criminal is very mysterious, leaving hardly any traces at the crime scenes! Therefore, there are few clues to go on! Our sketch artists are finding it hard to draw the suspect’s portrait!”

Qin Jian nodded: ”Understood.”

”Chief of Staff, do you have any questions or anything to add?” Captain Li asked.

Everyone in the room turned their gaze sharply towards Qin Jian.

”Right,” Qin Jian paused, then said, ”Everyone, be careful.”

Captain Li: ”...” Concise and to the point!

”That’s the situation! Now, let’s split up and act! After the day is over, we’ll meet back here and share updates,” Captain Li said.

As he spoke, the door to the criminal investigation department was suddenly slammed open: ”Captain! We’ve found a trace of the gang!”

”Speak quickly!” Captain Li said eagerly.

”We’ve spotted about a dozen people! It looks like they are going to make a delivery! They have entered a deep mountain range a hundred miles from Guoqi Town; crossing over there, they can bypass the provincial highway! After that, if there is a rendezvous, they can easily reach the border.”
