Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1031: Chapter 1031: Making a Ruthless Move

An Ping returned to the noodle shop to find that An Hao had nearly finished her meal.

Seeing him return, An Hao raised an eyebrow and glanced at him, ”Where’s my tanghulu?”

”Didn’t! Didn’t find any.”

”Nonsense! Stop hiding it! I saw everything! Is that girl the one you like?” An Hao glanced at him and asked with a smile.

”What, you think you’re Sun Wukong with fiery-golden eyes?”

”You went out to buy tanghulu and took almost half a meal’s time, and I’m not allowed to go take a look?” said An Hao.

”Oh! Oh! Oh!”

”When will you bring her home for a look? I should help you check her out,” she said.

”In a bit! We’re still early in the relationship, we at least need to get to know each other.” Besides, Niu Shanshan wasn’t keen on meeting the parents so soon either.

After all, they were both still young; better to hang out and have fun for a bit first.

”Alright. Then let your sister’s fiery-golden eyes take a good look at her, see if she’s a demon or a fairy.”

”Deal!” replied An Ping readily.

....................................

The money wasn’t recovered, and the resistance from several farmers had a certain effect.

The garment factory hadn’t shut down yet, and the employees still needed to eat.

Wang Bapi didn’t think much of it at first, but over time, the disadvantage became apparent.

Unable to buy vegetables, the employees weren’t happy just eating plain rice.

So Wang Bapi thought of a tactic: get someone else to buy vegetables in his stead.

An Hao and An Ping went over a few more times and discovered that they were sending different people to buy vegetables every day.

An Hao knew that this kind of prevention wouldn’t last.

It seemed she had to resort to harsh measures.

Early in the morning, An Hao called Wang Erzhu over and gave him five hundred yuan, ”Take this money and go to that Wang Bapi’s garment factory, order a thousand sets of clothes.”

”What? We can’t recover the money for the veggies, and you want to order clothes from his place? Sister An Hao, did I hear that right?” Wang Erzhu doubted his own ears.

”Of course, you heard right! That’s exactly what I want you to do! This five hundred yuan is a deposit. Remember, if you can avoid paying the deposit, do so; if you can pay less, pay less,” An Hao instructed repeatedly.

”Alright!” agreed Erzhu, although he didn’t understand why Sister An Hao would do this, he knew there had to be a reason for her actions.

With the money in his pocket, he headed straight for Wang Bapi’s garment factory.

The business was slowing down as the end of the year approached!

The employees were about to take a holiday and go home for the New Year!

Wang Bapi was fretting about the slow business this year when a big order came in.

The very person with this order was Wang Erzhu.

Hearing that a business opportunity had come knocking, Wang Bapi’s mouth couldn’t stop smiling as he eagerly invited Wang Erzhu into his office.

”Ordering five hundred jackets,” Wang Erzhu sat down in the office and got straight to the point without any small talk.

”Five hundred? Great, great, great!” he agreed quickly, ”What kind of style?”

”Work jackets. Light blue tops! As for style, just the usual will do.”

”No problem. Sure thing, sure thing!” Wang Bapi agreed readily, ”Shall we sign a contract first? You’ll make a deposit, right?”

”What’s a contract? I’m a simple man; I don’t understand that kind of thing! But I can pay you a deposit!” said Wang Erzhu as he took out two hundred yuan and placed it on the table, ”Is this okay?”

”Isn’t that a bit too little? It should be at least a thousand yuan for the deposit, shouldn’t it? After all, these clothes aren’t cheap.” A jacket would cost twenty yuan each, so five hundred would total ten thousand yuan!

”I don’t have a thousand. How about this? I’ll give you five hundred! That’s all the money I have on me.” Wang Erzhu said as he added another three hundred.

”Too little! Still too little.”
