Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1011: Chapter 1011: Officer, My Legs Are Weak!

In the blink of an eye, they had reached the police station’s entrance, and Qin Jian handed over the two hoodlums.

Upon seeing who they were, the police officers at the station instantly understood, ”Wow! It looks like you’re planning on becoming permanent residents of the prison, huh? What is it this time, theft or robbery?”

”Interrogate them! It’s likely a gang operation! They’ve even resorted to a ’lure the tiger away from the mountain’ ruse!” Qin Jian said.

The officer saluted Qin Jian, ”These guys are regulars here! Their boss is Wang Jiu, the so-called Overlord of South Street! He’s definitely involved! Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of this bunch, make sure they can’t harm the community!”

”I trust you!” Having said that, Qin Jian returned a military salute and left with An Hao.

As soon as Qin Jian left, an officer picked up a book from the desk and slapped each of the hooligans on the head, ”You’re out of control! Lawless! Acting as if the law means nothing, doing whatever you please!”

”You could go a bit harder,” another officer remarked as he walked over. ”This bunch isn’t afraid of dying! They don’t realize how many lives they’ve got. The guy who just left had two bars and two stars, a lieutenant colonel’s rank! At the very least, he’s a regimental staff officer! If you stir up trouble again, he could probably have a couple of tanks over here to wipe you out in a heartbeat.”

”Please, officer, we’re scared stiff!”

”Scared now, are you? Spill it... what exactly happened...”

Wang Jiu’s plan had failed. Although his subordinates hadn’t snitched on him, he hadn’t made any money from it.

According to the rules, if a job wasn’t completed, he had to go and give Ruan Fangfang her money back.

The two arranged a meeting place and saw each other again that night.

In the chilling wind, Wang Jiu huddled in the glow of a streetlamp, waiting for Ruan Fangfang.

Sune enough, she appeared, delighted, ”How did it go? Was it successful? I’ve brought all the money with me.”

”Sorry! It didn’t work out, her man was there! The guy is trouble; the job didn’t go through!” Wang Jiu said irritably and pulled out two hundred fifty yuan from his pocket, handing it to Ruan Fangfang, ”Take your money, a full two-fifty, not a cent less!”

”I think you’re the fool!” Ruan Fangfang’s dream had been shattered. She cursed as she clutched the money and left, ”Some Overlord of South Street you are! Can’t even handle a woman! Don’t call yourself the Overlord! It’s an insult to the name!”

”Stop right there! You dare say that again, see what happens? Everyone knows who I am!” Wang Jiu clenched his fists, ready to hit Ruan Fangfang, who quickly backtracked in fear.

”I won’t say it again... isn’t it enough that I admit I’m wrong?” Ruan Fangfang went pale, realizing that the man before her was not someone to be trifled with.

”Good that you know.” Wang Jiu relaxed his fists but didn’t want to back down, so he told Ruan Fangfang, ”The husband of the woman you wanted me to deal with is military, a former regimental chief of staff in the Northern Military Region! I can’t afford to cross him. Military folks aren’t easy to provoke.”

”No wonder!” With Wang Jiu’s explanation, Ruan Fangfang understood, ”Alright, my mistake, I take back what I said! No cooperation this time, maybe some other time.”

After speaking, she pulled out fifty yuan and gave it to Wang Jiu, ”Don’t want you to have wasted your time completely, buy yourself a pack of cigarettes with this.”

”Thanks!” Wang Jiu said, taking the money and walking away.

Ruan Fangfang returned home, her body cold. Ma Mei saw her shivering and threw her a homemade hand warmer.

”How did it go? Did your matter work out?”
