Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 349: With Angela

After she finished her song, Angela immediately swam to the seaside. She then floated out of the water, returned to her half demon form, and sat down beside him. ”Iʼm glad that you enjoyed my singing.”

”Ha ha.” Zhang Xiaolong laughed softly and turned to her. ”Lord Angela-”

”Shh!” Angela stopped Zhang Xiaolong right away by placing her index finger on his lips. ”You donʼt need to address me as such, and you can call me by my name directly. Unlike the other demon rulers, I donʼt really like my status as a demon ruler, and I enjoy living a free life with these aquatic beasts.

Furthermore, not all demon beasts appreciate my singing; they claim that my voice causes them to forget themselves. Therefore, Iʼm delighted to see that you find enjoyment in my singing. Anyway, whatʼs your name, and where do you come from?”

”I also feel hypnotized by your voice, but I am different from other demon beasts, and I really enjoyed your voice when you sang that song.” Zhang Xiaolong responded as he took Angelaʼs hand and gently caressed it. ”My name is Zhang Xiaolong, and I come from Lord Zygozʼs sub-realm.”

Angela immediately pulled her hand back and asked him a question. ”Zhang Xiaolong? Why is your name so weird? I have never heard of such a name among the demons.”

”Ha ha.” Zhang Xiaolong laughed wryly at Angelaʼs question, and he actually wanted to use another name to introduce himself to her, but he dropped the idea. ”I donʼt know; my parents gave me this name, so I always use it.”

”I see.” Angela nodded in understanding. ”Considering your appearance and demon rank, you should be very young, right?”

Zhang Xiaolong nodded to her. ”In fact, Iʼll be 20 years old in a few days, so-.”

”What? Are you kidding me? How can your demon rank reach the Earl rank if you are not even 20 years old yet?” Angela asked in shock as she suddenly stood up from her seat.

”Iʼm not joking with you.” Zhang Xiaolong then stood up and looked in another direction, and he immediately teleported towards a demon beast before grabbing its head, shocking Angela, who looked at him with wide eyes.

Angela was even more shocked when Zhang Xiaolong used his essence absorption ability, which caused the demon beast to dry up quickly before turning into ashes. He immediately returned to her side afterward. ”You may think my ability is cruel, but I use that technique to absorb the essence of other demon beasts, and my demon rank can increase rapidly thanks to their essence.”

Angela did not respond to Zhang Xiaolong, as she was still shocked by his abilities, especially his teleportation ability, and her eyes continued to be glued to him. After all, she was the only demon in the Diyu Realm who had that ability before, but now she has met another demon beast who has the same ability as hers.

After some time, Angela regained her composure and spoke to Zhang Xiaolong. ”Try catching me.”

Angela immediately used her teleportation ability and vanished from his sight, but Zhang Xiaolong immediately pursued her using his own. She was even more shocked by his action, especially considering the significant gap in their demon ranks, but he was able to match and even surpass her speed.

Unbeknownst to them, four other demons were watching them from a distance; they were none other than Oz, Zygoz, Virgil, and Aries. At first, the second demon emperor wanted to invite Angela to join them in going to Aqua, the Aquarius sub-realm, especially since their realms were close to each other, but they saw her having fun with Zhang Xiaolong.

In the end, they decided to leave the two behind, and they immediately went to the eleventh demon ruler sub-realm to persuade him to join them.

After they played tag with each other and traversed various areas in the Diyu Realm for so long, they immediately returned to the Northern Sea. However, Angela was panting heavily after she used her abilities without stopping, so Zhang Xiaolong immediately supported her.

After all, Zhang Xiaolong had already perfectly adapted to the third level of the gravity feature in his training space, which was eight times heavier, so the gravity in the Diyu Realm was nothing to him, and he did not need to spend much energy to keep up with Angela.

”Hah... Hah... For such a young demon beast, you are truly terrifying, Xiaolong.” Angela uttered those words while struggling to catch her breath. ”In my entire life, no demon beasts or demon rulers can catch up to me if I use my teleportation ability, but I actually find it difficult to avoid your pursuit, and you should be able to catch me easily if you want.”

That made Zhang Xiaolong smile. ”Iʼve trained hard to reach this stage, Angela. Not only did I increase my demon rank by absorbing other demon beastsʼ essences, but I also tempered my body very hard, which made my speed surpass that of demon beasts in general, and my teleportation also became faster. Actually, I still have one more ability, and you will definitely be surprised if you see it.”

”Huh?” Angela looked at Zhang Xiaolong with a shocked look. ”Can you still move faster than before? Can you show me?”

”Yeah, I can still move faster, and Lord Zygoz has seen me use it on multiple occasions.” Zhang Xiaolong then embraced Angelaʼs waist and placed both of her hands on his shoulders. ”Hold on tight, especially since my speed will be much faster than before.”

Angela nodded and hugged his neck, and Zhang Xiaolong immediately used the Nine Cloud Steps to take her away from the Northern Sea. Soon, they reached the southernmost region of the Diyu Realm, a vast swamp home to a variety of demon beasts, shocking her greatly.

Zhang Xiaolong then released Angela from his embrace, and she looked around the swamp before taking a deep breath. ”Your speed is truly insane! The two areas are so far apart, but you were able to bring me here so quickly that I barely even had time to blink, which means you are the fastest demon beast in this realm.”

”One of the keys to survival is escape, so I deliberately honed my speed.” Angela nodded in agreement with Zhang Xiaolong, especially since she herself always relied on her teleportation to escape, and her ability led her to become one of the demon rulers.

”Anyway, itʼs not that Iʼm a coward, but Iʼm fully aware of my strength, and thereʼs no way I can fight against a powerful demon or demon beast like you.”

”Thatʼs right.” Angela then walked to the side of the swamp while talking. ”Running away doesnʼt mean being a coward; running away is an act of self-preservation, especially if we meet an enemy who is much stronger than us. After all, living is better than dying, right? There is no point for us to act like bravado, and we must be aware of our strengths.

Anyway, you probably already know that I am the youngest demon ruler, and I can be said to be the weakest among them. However, my teleportation ability helps me greatly, and I use it to avoid my opponents while developing strategies to take them down, which makes them all recognize me and bring me to my current position.

As I told you before, I donʼt like my status, but I have no other choice because it can make my life safer, and I can protect the other aquatic demon beasts.”

”Actually, Iʼm no different from you, and Iʼve also done a lot of things I donʼt like lately.” Zhang Xiaolong also walked to the swamp side and stood by Angelaʼs side. ”Sometimes we have no choice but to do them, especially since there are so many things that are beyond our control, so we are forced to do them in order to protect ourselves and those closest to us.”

Angela nodded slightly in response to Zhang Xiaolongʼs words, then turned to face him before posing a question. ”Have you ever thought about becoming a demon ruler, or perhaps the next demon emperor? Although you are still too young and your demon rank is still at the Earl Rank, you have your abilities to support your wishes, and I think you can become one in the future.”

”Hahaha.” Zhang Xiaolong laughed when he heard that. ”Just like you, I donʼt like such a status, and I prefer a free and unfettered life, so Iʼm not interested in becoming a demon ruler, let alone a demon emperor, especially since both would be a pain in my ass.”

”Hahaha! You are very vulgar, you know?” Angela said that as she laughed. ”Even so, I like you, and Iʼve never felt as happy as I did before the second demon emperor disappeared. The situation in this realm became so bad because of his disappearance, and many demons or demon beasts had to suffer because four of us demon rulers are so ambitious to become the next demon emperor.

Moreover, they keep trying to find the ten demon lord seeds left by the first demon emperor, and they oppress many of those who are suspected of having found them, such as the Dryads.”

Zhang Xiaolong then asked Angela. ”Is that why you agree with Lord Zygoz?”

”Eh?” Angela was momentarily surprised by that. ”Did Old Man Zygoz tell you about his plans?”

”Yes.” Zhang Xiaolong nodded to Angela. ”Lord Zygoz knows many of my other abilities, and he asked me to join him in investigating some things, so he has explained quite a lot to me. So far, I know that you, Lord Aries, and Lord Virgil have agreed to join him. However, he still has to try to persuade the other demon lords, except for those four, especially since he suspected that they were traitors.”

Angela sighed heavily as she nodded at Zhang Xiaolong. ”Youʼre right about the Amaris twins, Tauri, Leo, and Avros. I have always believed that they were the traitors, and they always oppressed other demons or demon beasts. Even many of the aquatic demon beasts perished at the hands of their troops, which is why I never liked them.

Once Old Man Zygoz explained his plans to me, I immediately agreed with him. Anyway, would you like to visit my sub-realm? I still want to talk with you, but I have to go back now.”

”Unfortunately, I canʼt go to your sub-realm today because I still have some unfinished business, so I have to go and sort things out.” Angela looked disappointed while listening to Zhang Xiaolongʼs answer. ”However, I have plenty of time tomorrow, so Iʼll go directly to your sub-realm.”

”Is that true?” Angela asked with an excited look, and Zhang Xiaolong nodded at her. ”In that case, I will wait for you in my sub-realm, so you should go directly there tomorrow, and we will talk more there.”

After they said their goodbyes, Angela immediately used her teleportation to return to her sub-realm. On the other hand, Zhang Xiaolong wanted to go to the Dryad Forest to check on Chi Zhongguo and Ba Shuxiang, but he suddenly saw a swarm of demons, which was similar to a kappa. ʼHey!

Iʼm going to kill this demon and give its flesh to that guy, so he will transform into this demon, and his wife will be hysterical when she sees her husband.ʼ

Following that, Zhang Xiaolong instantly summoned the demon extermination sword, directly killing the demon. He then proceeded to skin it until only its flesh remained, promptly storing it in the system inventory.

As for Ba Shuxiang, Zhang Xiaolong tried to find the right demon to harvest its meat, which he would give to him later.

[Master, why donʼt you use that demon beast in your east for Ba Shuxiang? Although its demon rank is low, the demon beast looks interesting.]

”Hmm?” Zhang Xiaolong then turned his head in the direction Mei pointed, where he saw a demon beast that resembled a black swan. However, it can stand and walk like a human, and its black feather is beautiful even though it lives in a swamp. ”I think you are right, and that demon beast is suitable for Ba Shuxiang.”

Without thinking anymore, Zhang Xiaolong immediately channeled his light element into the demon extermination sword and attacked the demon beast directly, and it didnʼt offer much resistance, so he immediately skinned it on the spot after killing it.

After everything was done, Zhang Xiaolong went straight to the Dryad forest and met Lillea, and he gave the meat of the two demon beasts to her. ”Are you going to give them to the two humans? With this amount of meat, it probably wonʼt take long for them to turn into demons.”

”Yeah, you can ask your subordinates to give them both.” Lillea nodded in agreement and called one of her race members, and Zhang Xiaolong then told her. ”Anyway, I will bring them all into seclusion again, and we will be doing this for quite some time, so I want you to join us.”

”All right.” Lillea unhesitantly agreed to Zhang Xiaolongʼs request, especially since she still needed strength to protect her race, and he was the only one who could help her with that. ”When are you going to take me away?”

”Right now.”

After that, Lillea called several of her race members and gave them some instructions, and Zhang Xiaolong immediately sent her into the training space before returning to the Sky Jade Realm to meet his slaves.

When he arrived there, Pang Hong and Pang Gui were already waiting for him, but Zhang Xiaolong did not speak to them right away, and he chose to complete the daily quest first.
