Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 308: Desert Nightshade Herbs

*Drap... Drap...*

Ba Yongshan was rushing towards an area in the Desolate Sect, which was an area reserved for special disciples of the sect, whose status was higher than that of core disciples, but two male disciples immediately stopped him as soon as he wanted to enter the area.

However, Ba Yongshan immediately took out his Ba Clan plaque and showed it to them. ”I came here to see my elder sister, Ba Shuxiang, and my brother-in-law, Chi Zhongguo.”

Upon hearing the two names and seeing the Ba Clan plaque in his hands, the two disciples immediately allowed Ba Yongshan to enter, prompting him to rush to the building at the very back.

In that place, Ba Yongshan saw a man in his early forties beating up some wooden dummies that he had deliberately arranged to be his training targets, and he was none other than Chi Zhongguo.

Chi Zhongguo had a tall and sturdy body, and all his muscles were clearly visible under his dark skin, especially since he lived in such a hot desert. Furthermore, his body was adorned with a variety of scars, including sword scars. ”Oh? When did you get here? Did you come with your sect members? I heard from Aunt Zhiqiang that people from your sect came here to spar.”

”I just arrived at this sect, so I came straight here to see you and my sister, brother-in-law.” Ba Yongshan replied as he approached Chi Zhongguo. ”Anyway, I did come with some of them, and you must be happy to hear this news, especially since Qin Zheng led us on our journey this time.”

”Qin Zheng, huh?” Chi Zhongguo muttered softly as he rubbed one of the sword scars on his chest. ”She was the first person to injure me, and she gave me this wound during our last spar, so I considered her my rival. However, her life turned upside down after she got married and gave birth, and she even had to take a leave from the sect to take care of her only daughter.

As a result, her cultivation has not progressed over the past few years, leaving me truly disappointed in her. She is no longer a worthy opponent for me, so I have no interest in meeting her again.”

Ba Yongshan nodded in understanding. ”Qin Zhengʼs cultivation is still stuck at the 10-Star Soul Realm, whereas yours has already reached the 3-Star Earth Realm, so she is not your opponent. Anyway, where is my sister? Why isnʼt she accompanying you?”

”Shuxiang is meeting Elder Li Xintong now, but she will be back soon.” Chi Zhongguo then questioned Ba Yongshan, particularly after noticing his peculiar facial expression. ”Whatʼs wrong with you? Is something bothering you?”

Ba Yongshan nodded and explained to Chi Zhongguo his desire to get Ye Lian. He also informed his brother-in-law about Zhang Fei [1], but he did not tell his brother-in-law about his relationship with the five clans, especially since he thought that his brother-in-law would not be willing to help him if he knew about their relationship.

”Ye Lian, huh?” Chi Zhongguo muttered as he nodded. ”I met her once, when we came to the Heavenly Sword Sect, and she was indeed a beautiful and talented woman. Her sword skills were on par with Qin Zhengʼs, earning her the title of one of the best of her generation, so Iʼm not surprised if you have an interest in her.

However, I did not expect that her relationship with Gu Zhan would fail, especially since the two of them looked good together, and she even chose a younger man as his replacement.”

”Are you willing to help me defeat Zhang Fei [1], brother-in-law?” Chi Zhongguo looked at Ba Yongshan with a frown. ”I donʼt know how he trained, but his killing intent is truly terrifying, even though his cultivation is still far below mine. Thatʼs why Iʼm not confident that I can defeat him, so I need your help to do so, and I hope Ye Lian will reconsider her decision to choose such a weak man.”

”All right, Iʼll help you, or Shuxiang will keep nagging at me.” Chi Zhongguo immediately went back into his room and got dressed, but he came out again a short time later and led his brother-in-law away from the area.

However, they bumped into Ba Shuxiang, who immediately asked them. ”When did you arrive, Yongshan? Where are you two going now? Why didnʼt you wait for me?”

Ba Shuxiang was not beautiful, but she was not ugly either, and she was slightly above average. She had shoulder-length brunette hair and a slightly tall figure, but her body was a little plump, and her C-Cup breasts also looked round. What was most intriguing about her were her unusual eyes, especially since both were reddish-light brown.

”I arrived not too long ago, Big Sis. Anyway, I asked my brother-in-law to help me with something, so we will go to the sectʼs training ground now.” Hearing Ba Yonghsnaʼs answer, Ba Shuxiang immediately glanced at Chi Zhongguo, who nodded at her. ”Are you joining us, Big Sis?”

”I have nothing else to do right now, so Iʼll go with you guys.” Ba Shuxiang then followed the two men. ”Moreover, I heard that Qin Zheng is leading you guys this time, and I havenʼt seen her for a long time. Besides, I still havenʼt avenged my defeat to her, so I want to have a rematch with her today, and I will definitely defeat her this time.”

”Haha.” Ba Yongshan laughed upon hearing that. ”Hey, Big Sis! Your cultivation is already at the 3-Star Earth Realm, like that of my brother-in-law, so you should be able to defeat Qin Zheng easily, and you might even force him to give up being a sword master.”

”You underestimate Qin Zheng too much.” Ba Shuxiang replied to her younger brother with a shake of her head. ”In swordsmanship, cultivation does not determine the outcome of a fight, but our mastery of swordsmanship will determine victory or defeat. Despite my reluctance to acknowledge it, her proficiency in swordsmanship surpasses mine, a fact that led to my defeat a few years ago.

Anyway, why do you need help from my husband? Is there anyone who dares to oppose you in our sect?”

”No.” Ba Yongshan shook his head at Ba Shuxiang. ”I donʼt have any problems in our sect, but I have problems with someone from outside the sect, and he even insulted our Ba Clan as a weak clan.”

”Hmm?” Ba Shuxiang turned to Ba Yongshan with a frown. ”Who is that person? Our Ba Clan is indeed a minor clan and not as strong as the Chu Clan and the others, but our clan is one of the founders of the Heavenly Sword Sect, and Uncle Jiawen is no less powerful than Chu Hong or Ye Yuan, so our clan is not weak.”

”His name is Zhang Fei [1], and I donʼt know where he came from, but Ye Lian chose him to be her new fiancé.” Ba Shuxiang was surprised by that, especially since she hadnʼt been following the developments in the Heavenly Sword Sect after she married Chi Zhongguo, and Ba Yongshan told her something else. ”In fact, Gu Zhan had disappeared for a very long time, and no one knew his whereabouts.

Even some elders had asked Xing Mei about his whereabouts, but she didnʼt tell them clearly.”

”Huh?” Ba Shuxiang was even more surprised after hearing that. ”Do you think Zhang Fei [1] was involved in Gu Zhanʼs disappearance? Otherwise, Ye Lian wouldnʼt possibly choose him as her new fiancé, right?”

”That might happen.” Ba Yongshan replied with a nod. ”Honestly, I had been courting Ye Lian for some time after Gu Zhan disappeared, but she kept rejecting me because she had already chosen Zhang Fei as her new fiancé, and I only found out about his identity today because we accidentally met him on the edge of the desert.”

”Does that mean you are asking my husband to fight Zhang Fei [1] for you?” Ba Yongshan smiled bitterly before nodding to Ba Shuxiang. ”Is he strong? Your cultivation is already at the 10-Star Soul Realm, and you will break through to the 1-Star Earth Realm soon, so you should be able to fight him on your own, right?”

Ba Yongshan sighed heavily at that. ”Big Sis, I know you will laugh at me, but Zhang Fei [1]ʼs cultivation is only at the 2-Star Soul Realm. However, he seems to be a cold-blooded killer, especially since his killing intent is so terrifying, which is no less terrifying than yours or my brother-in-lawʼs.

Moreover, I donʼt know for sure about his abilities, so I chose the safe route by asking for help from my brother-in-law.”

*Smack*

”Ouch!” Ba Shuxiang suddenly smacked Ba Yongshanʼs head, causing him to scream loudly and rub his head. ”Why did you do that, Big Sis?”

”Somehow, I feel that you are very cowardly.” Bai Shuxiang replied with a shake of her head. ”Your cultivation is much higher than Zhang Feiʼs [1], but you donʼt dare to face him alone; you even asked my husband for help before trying to fight him first.

Moreover, it would be a shame if my husband, with his cultivation at 3-Star Earth Realm, had to fight him with his cultivation still at 2-Star Soul Realm.”

ʼTch!ʼ Ba Yongshan gritted his teeth at that. ”What if Zhang Fei [1] is really a cold-blooded killer? People like that usually use underhanded methods to fight others, and if that happened, I would definitely die.

Moreover, I am your only brother, and you will be sad if you lose me, so I asked my brother-in-law to help teach him a lesson because he dared to snatch Ye Lian from me and also insulted our clan.”

”If you are not my brother, I will beat you up for your cowardice now.” With a flash of cruelty in her eyes, Ba Shuxiang spoke those words, causing Ba Yonghsan to shudder.

”All right, you donʼt have to scold Yongshan like that, Shuxiang.” Chi Zhongguo finally spoke. ”He is your little brother, and he is also my little brother. Moreover, I am also a member of the Ba Clan, so I will not allow others to insult our clan.”

Ba Shuxiang sighed softly before nodding to her husband, especially since she herself was angry because Zhang Fei [1] belittled and insulted her clan. She didnʼt care about Ba Yongshanʼs feelings for Ye Lian, but she wouldnʼt allow others to insult her clan.

Since Shi Xi and Gang Jinshu were having a serious discussion about the metal element, Zhang Fei [1] decided to take Shi Wu and Yi Na to look around the area around the sect, where all the buildings were built using sand mixed with some special materials, making the sect more like a sand castle, but its size was truly massive, especially since there were no other buildings in the desert.

However, Zhang Fei [1]ʼs eyes also kept on paying attention to the red dot that was running with the other two green dots on his map, especially since Ye Lian had previously told him that Ba Yongshanʼs elder sister and brother-in-law were staying in the sect. ʼHah! That brat is such an idiot!

I already gave him a chance to live once, but he still seems to want to look for trouble with me, so Iʼll see what they have planned for me.ʼ

”Fei!”

”Hmm?” Zhang Fei [1] immediately looked up at the sky and saw Zefyr flying down towards him before landing on his shoulder. ”Did you find the item you were looking for?”

”No.” Zefyr replied with a disappointed expression. ”At first, I thought the aura I sensed was that of the sunfire lotus herb, so I rushed to look for it, especially since it is very useful for alchemy. Unfortunately, I sensed it wrongly, and I found the desert nightshade herbs there instead, which are highly poisonous.”

”Huh?” Zhang Fei [1] immediately turned to Zefyr. ”Did you take those herbs?”

”Yes.” Zefyr immediately took out the herbs and handed them to Zhang Fei [1]. ”Be careful! These herbs are very poisonous.”

”Hahaha!” Instead, Zhang Fei [1] laughed as he accepted the herbs. ”Zefyr, I already told you that I have poison immunity, so the poison from these herbs is nothing to me.”

Zefyr nodded slightly while letting out a soft sigh. ”I had forgotten about that, especially after witnessing so many of your unusual abilities. Anyway, what are you going to do with them? A few drops of these herbsʼ poison can even kill a heaven-rank beast, and a human would die if he or she were to be exposed to one or two drops.”

”Isnʼt that amazing?” Zhang Fei [1] asked with a smirk. ”I will face Shen Haoran soon, so these herbsʼ poison will be useful against him and his loyalists, and we can deal with them more easily.”

”Since when did you get into a relationship with Shen Yu?” Yi Na abruptly questioned Zhang Fei [1].

”Hehe.” Zhang Fei [1] chuckled and turned to Yi Na. ”Actually, not only has Shen Yu agreed to become a member of my harem, but Shen Xueyi is also a member of my harem now. Thatʼs why I will help them get rid of Shen Haoran and his loyalists, so the situation in the Shen Clan will be more stable, and she can continue to lead the clan. Anyway, your husband should also be attending the wedding, right?”

”No.” Yi Na shook her head at Zhang Fei [1]. ”My husband has more important matters, so he asked me to come to the wedding myself.”

”I see.” Zhang Fei [1] nodded in understanding. ”In that case, I will bring you back to the southern region in two days, and you can attend the wedding, but I will be the one marrying Shen Yu on that day.ʼ

Yi Na replied with a nod of agreement. ”All right, I myself canʼt possibly leave the Wei Clan for too long.”
