Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 342: Nauvia The Siren

The two demon beasts shot lava from their mouths as Zhang Xiaolong pulled out his sword, but he didnʼt flinch. Instead, he channeled his fire qi, combined with the darkness qi, into the demon extermination sword, turning his flame dark red.

Furthermore, Zhang Xiaolong possessed fire immunity, which he mimicked from Aries. He was less concerned about the demon beastsʼ attacks because of their larger size and slower speed.

Zhang Xiaolong quickly moved towards one of them as he slashed the lava with his sword, but it immediately swung its spike tail towards him, and the other one opened its mouth wide to bite him.

Seeing that, Zhang Xiaolong used the clone illusion steps, causing the demon beastʼs spike tail to hit his illusion, and the other demon beast actually bit its tail until it broke off.

Quickly, Zhang Xiaolong was already behind the other demon beast, and he slashed the demon extermination sword to cut off its tail, causing both demon beasts to let out roars of pain.

*Roar*

To Zhang Xiaolongʼs surprise, their tails immediately grew back, but he didnʼt think about it and cut them both off again, causing both of them pain.

Unfortunately, Zhang Xiaolongʼs efforts were in vain, especially since their tails kept regenerating, even though he cut them off many times. After flying away from them to scan their status, he discovered that they could regenerate their bodies as long as they were in the lava. ”How could there be demon beasts like these in this place?”

Suddenly, the two demon beasts stomped their front legs on the ground, causing all the lava to move upwards towards Zhang Xiaolong, but he immediately used his flames to counter their attacks.

[Why are you playing with them, Master? Even though they are demon beasts at marquis rank, they are not opponents for a heavenly fox like you, and you can defeat them easily.]

”Haha.” Zhang Xiaolong laughed while listening to Mei. ”Why are you in such a rush? Actually, I just wanted to test my strength against them. However, youʼre right, I donʼt need to waste time fighting them.”

Zhang Xiaolong then released his heavenly fox aura to suppress those demon beasts, and he stretched out both of his palms towards them before using one of the techniques in the netherworld demon scripture, the hellflame incantation.

Instantly, black flames shot out of both of Zhang Xiaolongʼs palms, which immediately enveloped the bodies of the two demon beasts. Despite their lava-formed bodies, the heat from the black flames immediately caused them to roll on the ground, roaring in pain. The flames continued to burn their bodies, rendering their regeneration abilities useless.

Within a few minutes, the demon beasts had already become ashes, and Zhang Xiaolong immediately flew to the next area. However, there was nothing in the fourth area but empty land, and he also didnʼt see any red dots on his map, which made him feel doubtful about the situation there.

*Zing... Zing... Zing...*

The demon extermination suddenly vibrated quite strongly as it detected the presence of a demon, so Zhang Xiaolong immediately channeled his light qi into his sword before releasing it, and it immediately shot forward before stabbing something.

*Roar*

An invisible demon suddenly released a loud roar as Zhang Xiaolongʼs light element flowed into its body, and it finally revealed itself in front of him, which surprised him, especially since its body size was truly gigantic and almost filled the entire area.

The demon tried to grab the demon extermination sword, but it immediately moved back before slashing its arm clean off, making black blood flow to wet the ground beneath it.

However, the demon extermination sword didnʼt stop there; it slashed the demonʼs other arm, causing it to let out another roar of pain.

*Roar*

”Return!” The demon extermination sword returned to Zhang Xiaolongʼs hand, who immediately held its hilt and pointed it upward. He once again channeled his light qi into his sword before using the element sword method, making his sword glow white and lengthen, and he immediately slashed it towards the demon, splitting its body in two directly.

*Splurt... Splurt...*

Black blood gushed out of the demonʼs split body, soaking the ground and splattering towards Zhang Xiaolong, who immediately used his qi to protect himself.

Wasting no time, Zhang Xiaolong flew towards the next area, which was the last area of the Death Valley. However, he was immediately amazed to see a black castle in the middle of the place, and a moat filled with clear water surrounding it.

ʼSo itʼs true, huh? The quest is indeed related to that siren.ʼ Zhang Xiaolong muttered as he looked at Nuvia, who was sitting on a rock in the middle of the moat while playing her harp. ʼFinding a relic? The system once again gave me a quest without clear instructions! Sigh. Iʼll meet Ashreth later to ask about that quest.ʼ

However, Zhang Xiaolong raised his eyebrows as he felt something start to affect his mind, which was the effect of his music, but it didnʼt affect him too much. ʼScan her, Mei.ʼ

ʼSigh! I remember now! A siren can hypnotize other living creatures through their singing and music!ʼ Zhang Xiaolong muttered as he nodded to himself.

”Who are you? Why did you disturb my peace? How did you manage to enter this sub-realm? Moreover, you are not a demon, and my lady, the white Amaris, should be aware of your presence here.” When she noticed that Zhang Xiaolong was unaffected by her music, Nauvia abruptly questioned him, and she tried to use her charm on him.

”You better stop that, especially since your charm is too weak for me.” As Zhang Xiaolong approached Nauvia, he transformed into his incubus form, shocking her. ”Your charm may be useful against other demons, but I am a lust demon, and my charm is much stronger than yours.”

Nauvia did not refute Zhang Xiaolongʼs words because she knew that incubus and succubusʼ charm abilities were much stronger than her own, but she was curious about how he could have two different forms, especially since he also possessed the light element despite being a demon.

Zhang Xiaolong stopped at the ditchʼs edge and asked Nauvia again. ”Why did you control those demons to kill the other demons who came looking for you?”

”They were nuisances, so I killed them.” Nauvia casually replied to Zhang Xiaolong.

ʼWhat a ridiculous excuse!ʼ

”You havenʼt answered my previous questions.”

Zhang Xiaolong then answered Nauvia. ”My name is Zhang Xiaolong, and I heard some mysteries about this place, so I came here to have a look. However, I didnʼt expect that you were here, and you controlled the demons to attack me. Unfortunately, you didnʼt know me, and those demons died in vain. As for how I entered this sub-realm, I wonʼt explain it to you, but I have my own way to enter here.”

”Zhang Xiaolong?” Nauvia looked at him with raised eyebrows. ”Why is your name so strange? Iʼve never heard such a name in this realm.”

”Haha.” Zhang Xiaolong laughed upon hearing Nauviaʼs words. ”Naturally, you have never heard of a name like mine in this realm, especially since I am not a native of this realm, and I came from another realm.”

Nauvia frowned after he said that, but she was once again shocked when Zhang Xiaolong returned to his true form and looked at him while muttering. ”A human? How can a human survive in this realm?”

”Didnʼt you see my demon form just now? Why are you still questioning my ability to survive in this realm?” Zhang Xiaolong then walked on the water towards Nauvia, but she immediately created a water barrier between them. ”Anyway, I heard that you often ran away from your mother and went to dangerous places like this, so she asked Ashreth to send demon hunters to look for you.”

”Does that mean you came here to look for me on purpose?” Nauvia asked with a frown.

”No.” Zhang Xiaolong immediately denied Nauvia. ”You yourself know that the demons in this sub-realm hate a man, so I canʼt possibly have any relationship with them, right? Even so, I once infiltrated the Shire Demon City, and I heard the demon hunters talking about you in Ashrethʼs pub.”

”I see.” Nauvia nodded in understanding. ”Actually, I donʼt like my mother, and I donʼt like living in that tower. Although life there is much better, I donʼt feel comfortable living there, so I decided to run away. However, those demon hunters kept finding me, so I mustered the courage to run away to this place, and I used the demons here to kill them.”

Zhang Xiaolong immediately asked Nauvia again. ”Why did you have to kill them? They were innocent, and they were only carrying out the tasks they took, you know?”

”I donʼt care!” Nauvia shouted at Zhang Xiaolong. ”No one should find me and force me back to the tower, so Iʼll kill them.”

Zhang Xiaolong shook his head after hearing that. ”You might be able to kill them since their demon ranks arenʼt that high, but Ashreth will send high-ranking demons to find you soon, and the demons here wonʼt be able to protect you anymore.”

”I know.” Nauvia didnʼt deny Zhang Xiaolong. ”If Ashreth really sent high-ranking demons to find me and take me home, then I will leave this place, and I will go to a more dangerous place to hide from them.”

”Oh?” Zhang Xiaolong was surprised for a moment. ”Does this sub-realm have a more dangerous place than Death Valley?

Nauvia nodded at Zhang Xiaolong. ”There is still one place more dangerous than this Death Valley, which is located in my lady black Amarisʼs area, and we call it Endless Death.”

”Endless Death?” Nauvia nodded to Zhang Xiaolong once more, and he tried to find the location on his map. ”What kind of place is that? Why is the placeʼs name so scary?”

”Did you see the two faceless demon statues at the entrance to this place?” After Zhang Xiaolong nodded, Nauvia immediately told him. ”Those two are the true creators of this sub-realm; they are the two rulersʼ ancestors, who lived before the appearance of the first demon lord.

They were far more cruel than the current rulers, and they created the Death Valley and the Endless Death to punish other demons. However, that place is much more terrifying than this one, especially since it is an endless abyss with an ancient demon beast living in it.”

”An ancient demon beast?”

”Yes.” Nauvia answered with a nod. ”I donʼt know exactly what kind of demon beast lives inside it, but the other demons said that it was very terrible, and it would torture the demons who were thrown into the abyss. They would not die immediately, but rather very slowly, which is why they named that place Endless Death.”

Hearing that, Zhang Xiaolong became interested in going there to see the ancient demon beast, especially since he thought that it should be powerful and probably much stronger than the Amaris Twins or even Oz. ”Anyway, does that mean this black castle is where one of them lives?”

”Yeah.” Nauvia then looked towards the black castle. ”According to history, the corpse of one of them is preserved in this black castle, and there are many demon treasures. However, it is surrounded by a strong, invisible barrier. Even the current rulers are unable to breach it, thus preventing me from entering to inspect the interior.”

”Hmm?” Nauviaʼs explanation piqued Zhang Xiaolongʼs interest, prompting him to walk towards the black castle, where an invisible barrier immediately stopped him.

Nauvia immediately jumped into the moat and swam to the side of the black castle. ”I told you, right? I donʼt know anything about your abilities, but you wonʼt be able to destroy it, and you might get hurt if you forcefully destroy it, especially since the current rulers have done so.”

Zhang Xiaolong immediately touched the invisible barrier, but Mei immediately warned him. [Master, a powerful demon cultivator seems to have created this black castle, and the barrier is extremely strong, making it impossible for you to break it with your current strength; not even Boitata could destroy it.]

ʼNot even Boitata can break this barrier?ʼ Zhang Xiaolong inquired in shock, particularly since she had already reached the sovereign realm. If that was true, it meant that the demon cultivator who created the invisible barrier had already surpassed that level.

[Yes! Moreover, this invisible barrier seems to have a defense mechanism, so you should avoid forcing yourself to breach it, as its counterattack could seriously injure you.]

Naturally, Zhang Xiaolong would not take Meiʼs words lightly, and he immediately withdrew his hand. ʼDo you think people from the Di clan can breach this invisible barrier?ʼ

[Since the Di Clan members are formation array masters, they can probably do it, master. However, you canʼt possibly bring them here, right? Even though they are powerful cultivators, they are still humans, and the demon aura in this realm will affect them.]

ʼYeah, youʼre right about that.ʼ Zhang Xiaolong replied while nodding. ʼIn that case, I will ask Lingxue to accompany me to the Di Clan after my real body returns to the Sky Jade Realm, and I will learn about formation arrays from them, so I can breach this invisible barrier by myself.ʼ

”Hey! What are you thinking? Do you intend to breach in?” Nauvia suddenly inquired.
