Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1697 - 1698: Digging Up His Background

It’s been a few months since I last saw Ning Ge. Now seeing him again, this guy has grown a few strands of beard on his chin. Cheng Su couldn’t help but laugh, what’s with the attempt to look profound?

”If you don’t have a razor, I can give you one,” Cheng Su said with a smile.

Ning Ge stroked his chin and said, ”What do you know? This is called sexy and stylish, with a weathered yet stable aura. The young girls love it.”

”In my opinion, it’s not stylish at all, just pretending to be melancholic to trick the young girls,” Cheng Su retorted bluntly.

”A good man doesn’t argue with women. You wouldn’t understand the ways of the fashion world.” Ning Ge wagged his finger, then picked up little Qi Xiaoqi in his arms and teased, ”My godson, don’t you agree? Your mom is such a bumpkin.”

Qi Xiaoqi kicked his little legs with all his strength, his chubby little hands reaching out to grab Ning Ge’s beard and gave it a strong tug.

Ning Ge yelped and quickly asked the little ancestor to let go, making Qi Xiaoqi giggle.

”Son, well done, teach him a lesson for acting cool, pull out a few more,” Cheng Su clapped and cheered.

Ning Ge rolled his eyes at her and said to Qi Xiaoqi, ”Don’t listen to your mom, she’s just stingy.”

After playing with his godson for a while, Ning Ge handed him over to Old Master Cheng, leaving the old and the young to entertain themselves, while the younger ones stayed in the Cheng family hall chatting.

”How is Qi Taiguo doing over there? Has he gotten used to it?” Ning Ge rested his elbows on his thighs, fingers interlocked, and asked.

”I’ve been busy these days, and he’s probably busy too, so I haven’t received any calls,” Cheng Su shook her head and said.

Ning Ge said, ”Zhu City is considered a turning point. Big Brother arranged for him to be there also considering that in the future, having people in Guangcheng Military Region would be more convenient. Besides, you also have business here, making it easier to reunite in the future.”

Cheng Su replied, ”I just follow the leadership’s arrangements. I’m just a little woman and don’t understand much.”

”As long as you can achieve something in Zhu City, Guangcheng wouldn’t be a problem,” Ning Ge reassured her.

Cheng Su nodded.

Ning Ge then talked business with Cheng Yaozu, with Cheng Su occasionally chiming in with suggestions, and for a while, they chatted quite enthusiastically.

When the business talk subsided, Cheng Su remembered the newspaper in her bag, took it out, and handed it to Ning Ge, pointing at the page with Chiang Qing: ”Take a look at this.”

Ning Ge took it, and upon seeing it, his brows furrowed.

”Do you think this Shen guy might be the person behind her?” Cheng Su asked.

Cheng Yaozu also came to take a look and frowned, saying, ”He’s quite a figure. He’s connected both legally and illegally.”

Ning Ge wasn’t familiar with Shen Rong, but after hearing Cheng Yaozu’s words, he asked, ”Do you know him?”

”I wouldn’t say I know him. I know of him, but he doesn’t know me. In Hong Kong and Macau, almost everyone knows him. He’s running such a big casino; everyone wants to try their luck there. Our business is legitimate, and although Shen Rong runs a casino, it’s legal. But generally speaking, you can’t run such a big operation without some shady dealings.”

Ning Ge’s face turned somber.

No matter how impressive Shen Rong is, as long as they don’t interfere with each other, it’s fine since they’re not on the same path. But now that Chiang Qing, who’s left ”teeth marks” on them, has become his Third Mistress, it’s quite intriguing.

If he were insignificant, he could be ignored, but he just happens to be someone who mingles with both legitimate and illegitimate circles.

”Should we dig into his background?” Ning Ge looked at Cheng Yaozu and asked.
