Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1659 - 1660: Returning Home

Knowing that Qi Taiguo would most likely be transferred, Cheng Su was upset for a couple of days, but she understood in her heart that this was indeed an opportunity for him to advance further. As long as Qi Taiguo could prove himself, his future achievements would be much greater than this.

Therefore, she slowly accepted it and began to secretly adjust her mindset, making preparations for Qi Taiguo to head to Zhu City at any time.

As Qi Taiguo said, their separation would only be temporary. As soon as her studies concluded here, she could move to Guangcheng to live, which would be closer to him. If she wanted, she could even live on that island for a while.

Naturally, these were plans for later.

As the snow fell heavily, it was December 28th, and except for the restaurant, which was on rotation, all of Cheng Su’s businesses had closed for the holiday, and people were going home for the New Year.

Qi Fenglian brought Baobao over, asking Cheng Su to take him back to their hometown as Zhang Jisheng wanted to bring him home for the New Year.

”If it wasn’t agreed upon earlier, I wouldn’t want him to go back. What’s good about that house?” Qi Fenglian said through gritted teeth: ”They keep on pressing me about when I’ll send Baobao back, as if they’ll come over and grab him themselves if I don’t.”

Cheng Su raised an eyebrow: ”They weren’t so enthusiastic in the past, were they? What’s with them this year?”

On this point, Qi Fenglian couldn’t help but grind her teeth and sneer: ”They say it’s because I’ve remarried, and they’re afraid his stepfather won’t treat him well, showing him a bad attitude, so they want to take him back. Hah, like their family would treat him any better? They’d just torment my Baobao!”

Cheng Su said: ”Forget about it, it’s just this year. Baobao is older now. If he has another bad experience, he’ll understand who truly cares for him. In the future, even if the Zhang family comes to take him, he probably won’t want to go back himself.”

Qi Fenglian sighed: ”Exactly, he doesn’t really want to go there now, either. I just coaxed him. He’s such a little adult, saying if his sister doesn’t go back, why should he? He even accused me of being biased.” She ended up laughing at her own words.

Cheng Su also laughed: ”That’s true. Taking only him and not Xiao Yun, the Zhang family is indeed peculiar.”

”It’s all about valuing boys over girls.” Qi Fenglian sighed, saying: ”You take him back. That rascal Zhang Jisheng will naturally show up to get him. If he doesn’t, that’s even better; we’ll be back by the second day!”

Cheng Su nodded, then looked at Xiao Bao teasing Qi Xiaoqi by the sofa, shaking her head and sighing.

Once everything was ready, Qi Taiguo specifically borrowed a car from the army, packed several people and their luggage into it, and headed to the bus station, nagging them with reminders to be careful on the road like an old woman.

After the heavy snow, the car tires were fitted with chains for better grip, causing the vehicle to travel very slowly. Even so, Cheng Su was drenched in cold sweat from the ride, fearing the car might slip and veer off the road somewhere.

Fortunately, although the journey was nerve-wracking, the car eventually stopped safely by the roadside in Huangtian Village. As soon as Cheng Su stepped out, the wind hit her, making her shiver and sneeze twice. She couldn’t help it; her back was soaked with sweat, and the wind was freezing cold.

People were already waiting by the roadside—Father Qi, her brother-in-law, and sister-in-law were there, and they were all delighted to see them. After exchanging greetings, they helped carry the luggage, and the family returned home lively and joyful.

Upon entering the house, Qi Xiaoqi was immediately snatched away by Mother Qi, who wouldn’t let go. Fortunately, Qi Xiaoqi was asleep and didn’t wake up, otherwise seeing his grandmother might have made him cry again.
