Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1696 - 1697: Searching for Someone Is Not Easy

Regarding Chiang Qing, Ying Xiaoya had vaguely heard of her stories. Now listening to Cheng Su, she couldn’t help but lean over to take a look.

She was dressed in a well-tailored skirt, her hair neatly styled in a bun, holding the arm of an elderly man. Her smile seemed genuine, gentle yet mild, without any trace of anything amiss.

”Didn’t they say she had mental issues? Looking at her now, she doesn’t seem like it,” Ying Xiaoya said in a dazed voice.

Cheng Su, her eyes not leaving the newspaper report, replied, ”They say it’s intermittent. It’s not impossible for her to be fine.”

She also felt that Chiang Qing looked very normal. Comparing it to the time she came to investigate with Gao Hongbo, just from the photos, she found her to be very pleasing to the eye, nothing seemed wrong.

And the report mentioned that this Third Mistress was very favored. Even without bearing children for this wealthy tycoon, she had acquired a mansion and precious jewels.

It was just like reading those stories of wealthy families from later generations.

Chiang Qing, she actually...

Cheng Su couldn’t quite explain her feelings. If she had been forced with Gao Hongbo, then what about now?

Was this man named Shen the one who saved her from misery?

Seeing Cheng Su’s face looking troubled, Ying Xiaoya said, ”She’s married now, isn’t she? You don’t have to worry too much, do you?”

Cheng Su was taken aback, then smiled and said, ”Yes, she’s married now.”

She looked at the person in the photo and pursed her lips slightly.

”Yaozu is here,” Ying Xiaoya spoke up as she saw someone outside through the small window of the room door.

Cheng Su turned around, and indeed saw Cheng Yaozu pushing the door open, couldn’t help but smile.

”What brings you here?” Cheng Yaozu was slightly surprised to see her: ”Weren’t you supposed to be busy with the shop’s renovations?”

”I’ve already talked it over with my third uncle, he’ll take care of it,” Cheng Su smiled.

Cheng Yaozu made an ”oh” sound and then said, ”That’s a coincidence, Ning Ge also came by. I told him you were here, so we can have a meal together.”

”Isn’t he usually so busy that he’s nowhere to be seen? How does he have the time to come?” Cheng Su asked.

”Busy indeed, running around everywhere. Now he’s here to discuss some matters,” Cheng Yaozu said. ”I’ll go pick him up at the airport later.”

Cheng Su nodded, thinking of the task she had entrusted to him before, she asked, ”Do you have any news about the person I asked you to look for?”

The matter of someone looking for Xiao Cheng had always weighed on her mind. She couldn’t find the person herself, especially in Guangcheng, so she had privately entrusted it to Cheng Yaozu.

Seeing Cheng Yaozu’s apologetic expression, Cheng Su knew there was no hope.

Sure enough, he said, ”It’s not easy finding someone in Guangcheng. So far, there’s no news. But since we can’t find them through the proper channels, I’ve sought other avenues. Let’s see if they can find them.”

Cheng Su then said, ”If you really can’t find them, then forget it.”

Finding someone isn’t easy, especially with just a photo. Technology now isn’t as advanced as in future generations; otherwise, why would the Cheng family still be unable to find Grandma Cheng?

She had already prepared herself mentally for this, but hearing Cheng Yaozu say it still left her with a sense of regret and disappointment.

”Who is this person...” Cheng Yaozu asked tentatively.

Cheng Su knew what he was asking and shook her head, ”I don’t know who he is either. It’s just that I have a foster orphan and this person once came looking for her. I just wanted to know who he really is.”

Cheng Yaozu then said, ”If it’s not urgent, let’s wait a bit longer. I’ve already passed the photo down. If we can’t find them through the white channels, we’ll likely find out through the black channels!” Moreover, that person didn’t look like a good person at first glance.

That’s all they could do. Cheng Su gave a faint smile, her gaze falling on the photo in the newspaper, a hint of gloom flashing in her eyes.
