Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1674 - 1675: Forgive When Possible

Qi Taiguo returned home, so the Qi family truly felt complete this New Year. Father Qi personally cooked and prepared a table full of dishes, and with drinks ready, the family sat together around the table for the annual reunion meal.

At the dinner table, they talked about everything. Father Qi asked Qi Taiguo about his upcoming transfer, Qi Taiguo hesitated for a moment, glancing at Cheng Su, and seeing her nod, he knew she had informed them ahead of time.

Qi Taiguo then said, ”It’s still uncertain now. If it’s fast, I might leave this month; it depends on when the documents come through.”

”No matter where you go, you must be worthy of the nation and the people...” Father Qi had two glasses of wine, and his tongue started to swell as he began talking about loyalty.

Cheng Su chuckled quietly, picking food slowly, and also slipped a small piece of rice into her son’s mouth.

Qi Fengping watched as he nibbled and licked the rice with his little mouth, delighted, she took him into her arms to tease him.

Mother Qi interrupted as soon as Father Qi stopped speaking, ”Taiguo, now that you’re back, you should really teach Zhang Jisheng a lesson; he’s been going too far and completely disregarding our Qi family!”

Qi Taiguo was stunned; what did Zhang Jisheng do again?

Father Qi then said, ”You woman, seriously, why talk about things that spoil the mood?”

”We’re a family; what can’t we talk about?” Mother Qi muttered.

Qi Taiguo gave Cheng Su a questioning look.

Cheng Su, unable to do otherwise, told him about Xiao Bao, watching his expression, and before she finished speaking, his face was already covered in a layer of frost, chilling anyone who saw it.

”...They drew two tubes of blood to match, but now Xiao Bao is fine, and tomorrow the eldest sister’s family will come for dinner too!” Cheng Su squeezed his hand, trying to calm his anger.

Mother Qi said, ”Earlier, when your eldest sister wanted to register, the Zhang family withheld the household registration book and refused to cooperate. Now they use Xiao Bao to scheme; if we hadn’t reacted quickly, we would have fallen into their trap! That family is just a den of evil-hearted people, not one good person! Taiguo, you have to stand up for your elder sister.”

Cheng Su gave her mother-in-law a faint glance and said, ”Whether we stand up or not, the Zhang family is not in a good place now!”

Leukemia is an expensive and severe illness; even if there’s a match, money is needed for surgery. But does the Zhang family have that money?

Judging by the family’s poor condition, they’re still stuck in the same situation as they were when she went to the Zhang family years ago, with not a bit of prosperity, surely unable to afford treatment. Each day they can’t afford it, the child suffers another day.

”...Right now, they’re surely scrambling to raise money to treat that child’s illness; it’s their own karma coming back on them.” Cheng Su felt sympathy for the child but not for the Zhang family. The Zhang family’s misdeeds have brought suffering upon the children, both Lai Jinlan’s child and Xiao Bao.

Choosing to coldly watch from the sidelines is already a form of revenge. If that child is lucky and the Zhang family sells all they have to save him, his life will be spared. But the Zhang family is already destitute, down to the dirt!

Listening to Cheng Su, everyone fell silent; the children were the most innocent.

Father Qi said, ”Forget it, to be forgiving is divine. Now Xiao Bao is okay, consider it on behalf of his half-brother, let them off this time. Otherwise, beating him up or other actions could delay him gathering money for the child’s treatment. Now with this chaos, they surely won’t dare to scheme again; the two families will certainly part ways, and it can be considered as accumulating virtue for Xiao Bao and Xiao Qi.”

Mother Qi opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but Father Qi gave her a faint look; she pursed her lips and gave up the thought.
