Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1671 - 1672: Wanting to Change Their Surname

After the incident with Xiao Bao, everyone’s hearts were heavy, and this New Year’s Eve wasn’t particularly joyful. It was Qi Xiaoqi, the little baby, who brought some comfort to the two elders.

The family stayed up to see in the New Year, ate dumplings, and at midnight, set off fireworks to officially celebrate the New Year, welcoming the last year of the eighties.

On New Year’s Day, Cheng Su dressed Qi Xiaoqi in a bright red outfit, with a little red hat, clothed in a Tang suit with a continuous lucky pattern, looking like a New Year’s doll, delightful and cute.

Cheng Su took him to greet Father Qi and Mother Qi, offering tea, receiving red envelopes, and the little guy’s New Year’s money was naturally substantial.

Then, there were several younger ones who came to greet them, and the red envelopes Cheng Su handed out were equally substantial.

On the first day of the new year, no visiting relatives; Cheng Su only took Qi Xiaoqi for a walk around the village, giving a small red envelope to familiar families’ children, then stayed at home.

Qi Taiguo also called to send New Year greetings; he was on duty during the holiday and couldn’t speak much, and Cheng Su didn’t mention the matter with Xiao Bao, to avoid him getting upset.

On the second day, Cheng Su packed gifts for visiting relatives and carried Qi Xiaoqi back to her parents’ home to pay New Year’s respects, talking with them about Xiaoqi’s matters, chatting away, until the afternoon before returning home.

Qi Fenglian and her family also came back to visit maternal relatives, and exchanged greetings again.

Chu Zheng, as Qi Fenglian’s stepson, wasn’t embarrassed, treating Qi Fenglian like his biological mother, considering her family his own, affectionately calling Cheng Su his aunt.

No matter their age, they’re still children, and Cheng Su gave him a red envelope, and Chu Zheng chatted and played with Qi Jianguo and others of similar age.

Qi Fenglian took Cheng Su into the room, and upon entering, she was about to pay Cheng Su a grand courtesy.

”Elder sister, what are you doing?” Cheng Su was startled, quickly stepping aside.

This isn’t ancient times; Qi Fenglian’s actions were enough to frighten her.

”This is the favor I owe you, elder sister. If it weren’t for your vigilance, Xiao Bao might have been schemed against by the Zhang family!” Qi Fenglian said with reddened eyes.

Cheng Su pulled her to sit on the edge of the bed, saying, ”Elder sister, look at this, is such a small matter really worth keeping in mind? I simply thought something was wrong with his hospitality, considering if the child were unwell, how could he have the presence of mind to take Xiao Bao home for New Year’s? Somehow, I felt suspicious and looked into it.”

Who could have thought, Zhang family was indeed scheming!

”I thought his only intention was to have Baobao home for New Year, who knew underneath was such a sinister plan.” Qi Fenglian said angrily.

Cheng Su comforted her with some words, saying, ”It’s just a little blood drawn away, nurturing him will be fine.”

Qi Fenglian nodded, ”It’s just that I’m angry and feel sorry for him; he’s his biological father and yet calculated against him, it’s really chilling.”

Cheng Su sighed.

Qi Fenglian realized her words were tasteless and said, ”I’ve completely lost faith in him, so I’m thinking of changing Xiao Bao’s surname.”

Cheng Su was surprised, ”Changing surname?”

Qi Fenglian nodded, her face full of frost, ”The children are under my custody now that I’ve remarried, their household registration is under your brother-in-law’s, changing surname isn’t bizarre. Furthermore, do you see Zhang Jisheng as suitable to be their father? Perhaps someday, he might scheme against them all!”

”Changing the surname isn’t impossible, Xiao Bao doesn’t understand, but Xiao Yun is older, you need to discuss it with her, so that she won’t be unwilling and harm the mother-daughter relationship,” Cheng Su advised, ”Honestly, it doesn’t matter what the surname is; it doesn’t represent anything important. What matters is the children’s well-being. Plus, now they’re with you, what could Zhang Jisheng possibly scheme against them with?”
