Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1663 - 1664: Motivation Behind the Diligence

Father Qi took Xiao Qi to visit the neighbors but was urgently called back by Qi Fengping. He was also bewildered, wondering why there was such a rush during the New Year.

When they sat down and heard what Cheng Su and the others had to say, he was stunned.

”Leukemia? This, this can’t be possible, can it?” Father Qi, unlike Mother Qi, who knew nothing about it, was somewhat aware of the gravity of such an illness.

Now, a small child having this disease, regardless of whether the other party is an enemy, it’s not the child’s fault. Hearing this kind of news naturally made his heart heavy.

”This kind of illness also has hereditary factors, and childhood leukemia is common.” Cheng Su, having seen much in her past life, knew a lot: ”We’re not saying whether it’s hereditary or not right now, even if it is, it’s probably not from the Zhang family, since Xiao Yun and Xiao Bao are both fine.”

Both Father and Mother Qi sighed in relief; as long as it wasn’t the misfortune of the Zhang family.

Mother Qi said, ”Then it must be that woman who brought it in, good now, let’s see how far the Zhang family can flaunt after marrying someone so worthless, they couldn’t even have a healthy grandson.”

This remark was quite hurtful.

Cheng Su glanced at her but didn’t say anything. Instead, Father Qi said displeased, ”Watch your words, have some conscience, you too have grandchildren, aren’t you afraid the Bodhisattva will blame you for saying such things?”

Mother Qi, a bit embarrassed, said, ”I was just talking about the adults, not the child.”

”Regardless of how it is, if that Zhang family’s child truly has leukemia, they must be shrouded in misery now, but why did Zhang Jisheng rush to take Baobao home for the New Year?” Cheng Su voiced her doubts: ”I heard from my elder sister that he was very attentive, asking several times before we returned, seemingly ready to fetch Baobao himself if we didn’t.”

Upon hearing this, the others, including Mother Qi, hadn’t reacted yet.

”If the child is really ill, who would have the heart to care after bringing him back? Yet, the fact that he came to take the child exactly on the day we returned shows he had already asked my elder sister when we would be arriving and timed his visit accordingly.” Cheng Su said with a stern face: ”His eagerness makes me suspect his motives.”

”What motives? Taking Baobao back, the boy in their family will recover? A wedding to ward off misfortune?” Mother Qi sneered, dismissing the thought.

However, Cheng Su’s face changed suddenly, an idea was apparent in her mind.

”Big sister-in-law, did you think of something?” Qi Jianguo’s face darkened, as a realization also crossed his mind, making his scalp tingle.

Cheng Su said, ”This childhood leukemia, if it’s acute and detected early, isn’t without a chance of cure. As long as a bone marrow transplant is done, the chances of clinical recovery are high.”

”Bone marrow transplant?” Qi Fengping stood up immediately.

Mother Qi was dumbfounded, not understanding.

”Sister-in-law, are you saying that Zhang Jisheng hurriedly took Baobao back not for the New Year, but for a bone marrow transplant for his other son?” Qi Fengping screamed.

Father Qi’s face turned pale.

Cheng Su also swallowed and said, ”For a bone marrow transplant, a blood type match is needed, and those who are closely related by blood have a higher chance of a successful match. This is my worst thought, just in case, better to be safe than sorry, if it really is... then.”

”Let’s go. Go to the Zhang family, bring Baobao back immediately!” Qi Jianguo stood up, ”Regardless of whether it’s true, we have to bring Baobao back!”
