I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 892: Chapter 891: The Boy’s Probe

Watching Xing Jun arrive on time to mooch a meal, yet maintaining such a cold demeanor, Beisitian found it quite amusing. This young man wasn’t necessarily cold; he just had a heavy sense of caution, not daring to easily reveal his true self to others.

Isn’t that how most people are? It’s just that they use various forms to conceal themselves.

When Xing Jun first came to Beisitian’s side, there were always at least two women watching from different spots. But after a few days, probably thinking there was no risk, and since Beisitian was deemed ’completely controlled’, they relaxed.

Xing Jun was the freak of this village, eating food tainted with contaminated water every day, yet it had no effect on him. Initially, people from the headquarters came to observe, but perhaps they reached a conclusion because after five or six visits, they stopped coming.

Xing Jun seemed to be left alone here, occasionally having some blood samples collected. Yet each meal still contained contaminated water, with different kinds used for experimentation for a while, as long as the women ensured he didn’t run away; the rest was none of their concern.

Xing Jun was a special case for supervision. When he first interacted with Beisitian, the women even discussed whether to report it back to headquarters, but in the end, they decided not to bother the people there; this was likely just a trivial matter.

Later, seeing the two merely chatting while sharing meals, with Beisitian behaving perfectly ’normal’ and never thinking of leaving, the women relaxed and stopped having someone watch over them.

”What do you do in the forest every day?” Xing Jun put down the bowl and chopsticks; since there was something unwanted inside anyway, he may as well enjoy the taste a bit. However, he noticed these days that Beisitian didn’t eat any of the food here.

If she doesn’t eat, how could she possibly be mesmerized?

Xing Jun had been suspicious for a while, but he dared not trust anyone. If Beisitian was mesmerized, or by other means, recklessly bringing it up would surely cause trouble for him.

He certainly did not want his blood drawn out again; that feeling was terrifying and awful!

”Oh, just enjoying the scenery. I’m here as a tourist, and only stayed because this small village is particularly lovely. But I can’t stay indoors all the time, can I? The forest is quite fun; there’s even a small spring flowing down inside,” Beisitian said with a smile, resting her chin on her hand.

Xing Jun stared at her directly, his lips twitching into a hint of a smile, ”You emphasize the loveliness of this village quite deliberately, don’t you?”

Beisitian’s smile deepened slightly, ”Oh, are all young folks so suspicious?”

”Suspicious? Suspicious of what?” Xing Jun retorted, not willing to yield a single word.

Beisitian chuckled, ”Suspicious of what? Is the food tasty, made by Aunt Zhou~”

Xing Jun glanced at the plate of shredded potatoes, snorting, ”Not tasty at all. Every time these shredded potatoes have so much chili added. Clearly, it’s supposed to be vinegar-flavored shredded potatoes, but they turned out like nothing!”

Beisitian was taken aback, her gaze landing on the shredded potatoes. She didn’t see any chili, but she could smell the vinegar. Could it be spicy?

Xing Jun intriguedly leaned in, ”Sister, what flavor do you think these shredded potatoes have?”

Beisitian’s eyes sparkled with amusement; this boy silently tested her, and she fell for it.

Xing Jun narrowed his eyes, his voice low, and continued, ”Sister, you haven’t eaten these shredded potatoes, have you?”

Beisitian’s smile slightly faded, looking into his gaze with a subtle intensity, ”How could that be? It’s just too spicy.”

Xing Jun’s eyes brightened. She indirectly admitted she hadn’t eaten it since the shredded potatoes weren’t spicy at all!

He turned his head slightly, looking outside through the open window. Although the women no longer deliberately monitored them, there were still women sitting on the village road, albeit not specifically targeting them.

Xing Jun noticed the woman on the village road yawning repeatedly. He picked up a cup from the water tank, filled it, and returned to the table, saying, ”Sister, would you like some water?”

”No, drinking water right after a meal isn’t good for digestion.”

Beisitian spoke as she watched him use chopsticks to write on the tabletop: Sister hasn’t been mesmerized, right?

The writing dried up as it was written, leaving no traces; this young man was quite clever.

She said, ”You shouldn’t drink water right after a meal either; you should focus on maintaining your health for a good physique...”

Speaking, she wrote with her fingers on the table: No.

Xing Jun’s eyes lit up, then quickly lowered his eyelids, responding verbally to Beisitian while continuing to write: Sister, what are you here for?

Beisitian replied in writing: To save someone

Xing Jun saw these two words dry quickly, leaving no traces, yet they seemed full of further meaning. He knew Beisitian wasn’t here to save him and the other children but possibly to find someone from that family. Still, Xing Jun’s heart was full of excitement.

Perhaps... he could finally leave this small mountain village.

Xing Jun didn’t speak, but the longing in his eyes was unmistakable. He proceeded to write again with slightly trembling hands.

Can you take me with you? I won’t be a burden to anyone! I will work and earn money to repay you, I’m an adult!

Seeing the amount he wrote, Beisitian knew he was eager to express his inner feelings. Her smile remained unchanged, but inside, she was overjoyed—what a find!

Certainly, but you must cooperate with me. I need your blood.

Reading this, Xing Jun’s face turned pale, casting a surprised glance at Beisitian.

Beisitian saw the fear in that gaze and quickly guessed the situation. This young man must have suffered a lot and been experimented on by this organization once they discovered him.

Rest assured, just a few drops to save lives.

Upon seeing this, Xing Jun’s expression softened a little, but he still looked at Beisitian with uncertainty.

After a long silence, he wrote on the table: I believe you’re different from those people!

This was more like a statement to himself. After finally getting the chance to leave, he still needs to have his blood taken. Those people left him with deep psychological shadows that are difficult to shake off.

Seeing the boy’s face, Beisitian sighed inwardly. To prove her purpose and expedite the rescue of Shi Family, she took out a silver needle and gently pricked his finger, extracting two drops of blood.

Today, just two drops will suffice; they can save quite a few people. Thank you, they’ll know it and thank you as well.

Xing Jun gazed dazedly at his finger, which had already stopped bleeding. Despite the sting, Beisitian had been very careful while pricking.

Perhaps... she truly was different from those people.
