I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 890: Chapter 889: The Shi Family’s Antidote

How to gain the trust of the boy is a question; after all, with so many people, he needs to contribute quite a bit of blood.

If he knows the current situation, he might be sensitive about blood, which makes Beisitian feel a bit troubled.

On the other side, Shi Jianbin noticed that Beisitian stopped taking his blood, feeling rather disappointed, and then wondered if a remedy had been found?

This thought flashed by almost immediately; it’s not that Shi Jianbin doesn’t trust Beisitian, but the Shi Family had exhausted all their efforts without finding a solution, and even if Beisitian could find one, it wouldn’t be so soon.

If she did, it would be too demoralizing, not just for one person, but for the entire family!

However, Shi Jianbin hoped that Beisitian could find a way soon.

That day Shi Jiantong came to Shi Jianbin’s room to visit him; it was routine, and those guarding women wouldn’t care as long as there was no unusual movement.

The reason this group of men was controlled by several women wasn’t because those women had extraordinary skills, but because they held talisman powder that could trigger harmful effects.

These powders, even when inhaled a little, could cause severe abdominal pain, and even strong-willed people couldn’t withstand such pain, temporarily losing their ability to resist.

They carried these powders with them, used only as a means of control, and the harmful effects extended beyond that; they needed medication to relieve them every other day, or they’d die in agony.

This medication was in their dinner every day, specially targeting the harmful effects, and even the Third Elder couldn’t find a solution, which was why they were trapped there.

Basically, the Shi Family was affected by this harmful effect, some were taken to other places, since the village was small and the Shi Family too large, it was hard to control.

As Shi Jiantong knew, the Shi Family was divided into four to five Blood Circles, mostly controlled by this harmful effect.

Shi Jiantong saw Shi Jianbin’s spirit was a bit puzzled; ever since his eyes were destroyed, Shi Jianbin became very despondent and moody, impatient whenever spoken to, but today was different.

”Feeling good?” Shi Jiantong poured him a glass of water.

Shi Jianbin took it and thanked him, truly surprising Shi Jiantong, who was always polite before but became cold after losing his sight, unlikely to say thank you, let alone response.

”Not bad, aren’t you happy as well, Brother?” Shi Jianbin smiled.

Shi Jiantong was stunned, wondering how he knew his mood was okay?

They couldn’t discuss Beisitian’s identity much, always cautious as walls have ears and eyes.

After chatting with Shi Jianbin, Shi Jiantong found him somewhat odd but asked no more, preparing to leave.

”I’ll walk you out.”

”No need, just stay in the room.”

Shi Jianbin still smiled as he stood up, stepping right into a pit on the ground; this wasn’t the city, the ground was uneven and the room full of pits.

Shi Jiantong was startled, hurriedly supporting his arm, ”I said no need to send me, just stay well here.” Then, he motioned for Shi Jianbin to sit down and left.

After Shi Jiantong left, he went to the Third Elder, a routine.

He arrived at the Third Elder’s room, shutting the door behind him; the Third Elder disliked drafts due to old age, keeping the window closed.

The Third Elder realized he had matters seeing this, listened silently to outside sounds.

Sitting down, Shi Jiantong opened his palm holding a small paper slip.

”Given by Jianbin.” Shi Jiantong spoke quietly.

Then he unfolded the note, seeing elegant words: ”Come find me in three days at dawn,” signed by Shi Tian.

Beisitian hadn’t explained much, the slip too simple, letting him know was enough.

Shi Jiantong handed it to the Third Elder, they exchanged glances, recognizing a push was coming.

”What do you think?” Shi Jiantong asked Shi Zhongli.

”Go see what she wants,” Shi Zhongli said.

Shi Tian was a turning point, obviously worth visiting.

At 3 am, Beisitian awoke on her bed, hearing a low insect cry below the window, suggesting Shi Jiantong arrived.

She quietly opened the window, seeing a silhouette slip in quickly.

Shutting the window, Shi Jiantong whispered, ”You’re bold, aren’t you afraid of thieves or beasts?”

Beisitian smirked, ”Would thieves or beasts chirp a warning?”

Shi Jiantong paused, laughing as he sat, keeping quiet in darkness.

”Did you call me for something?” Shi Jiantong asked.

Beisitian placed something on the table; Shi Jiantong couldn’t identify it in the dark.

”It’s the antidote to that harmful effect,” Beisitian whispered.

Shi Jiantong froze then relaxed, ”Giving us antidote straight away, honestly, we dare not take it.”

”Such a coward, even Shi Jianbin took it.” Beisitian said, anticipating this, trusting unknown antidotes was risky.

”There are five packets, take this small one for testing, confirm and administer to five people, I need those who can fight with talismans; consider it a chance for rescue.” Beisitian spoke before indicating him to leave.

Daylight was coming, making Shi Jiantong’s visit bizarre.

Shi Jiantong hesitantly packed the powder, ”If true, we’d owe you!” Without delay, he hurried back eager to test if the medicine worked.

If effective, Shi Family could be saved, though he shared Shi Jianbin’s disbelief over Beisitian’s rapid antidote creation, it was incredible.

The antidote’s legitimacy needed thorough testing.
