I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 873: Chapter 872: Targeting Luo Yirui

At this moment, Shi Guang had already returned to Beijing overnight. The motorcycle broke down halfway, and after walking a few miles, he caught a long-distance bus, and after several transfers, he finally made it back to Beijing.

The urgency was because Shi Guang had uncovered some clues about the other party and realized that they weren’t targeting him, but Beisitian—more specifically, Luo Yirui, the son of Auntie!

No need to explain the purpose; Shi Guang could guess why they wanted to abduct Luo Yirui. Luo Yirui was simply too exceptional. Regardless of whether the rumors outside were true or not, just based on his vibrant spirit, he would certainly attract attention!

When Shi Guang thought about Auntie and others rushing to Ningjin County, he began to fear. If Auntie lost her son over this, she would hate him for a lifetime!

Putting this aside, he couldn’t let the little guy be in danger because of him, which is why Shi Guang rushed back overnight and left a message in the corner of the wall in a small motel: ’Return to Beijing quickly’!

He believed that once Auntie saw this message, she would know that the situation had changed. They had a car and would definitely come back quickly. His job was to keep an eye on Luo Yirui before Beisitian and others could return and ensure no one approached him.

Shi Guang knew that this group of people was probably related to Hawkeye, so they were definitely determined to get Luo Yirui. However, when he arrived in Beijing, he didn’t immediately find the small courtyard but stayed at a hotel nearby.

He needed to sort through the events of the past few days because he had a nagging feeling that something was off.

From the moment they figured out where the Shi Family had been swapped out, he felt something was wrong. The news was released so conveniently—not only did Hawkeye’s people know, but even Beisitian and the others found out.

The main issue for Shi Guang was that such a secret thing was uncovered too easily. This aside, after arriving in Ningjin County, he quickly found clues about the other party and ’accidentally’ overheard their plan targeting Luo Yirui.

All of this seemed to be intentionally made known to Shi Guang, but what was the purpose behind it?

However, one thing was certain: these people planned to use him and the Shi Family to lure Beisitian out of the Capital City, making it easier to target Luo Yirui. This was something Shi Guang was quite sure of.

But then, why did they lead him back?

Shi Guang was a clever young man; although he had limited experience, he was sharp-minded. Thinking this way, he realized that the whole thing was full of loopholes.

Shi Guang didn’t act recklessly. Since some of the clues were intentionally given to him, it meant he was always under their watch. The fact that no traces of them had appeared yet suggested that all his actions were within their plan up to this point.

So he planned to pause, not to go to the small courtyard, nor to seek out Luo Yirui and see what ’new clues’ the other side would offer them.

Thinking about this, Shi Guang couldn’t help but feel a bit annoyed. If he had sorted out these thoughts earlier, he wouldn’t have let them lure Auntie and the others out of Beijing, exposing the little guy to danger.

If Shi Guang knew the current situation in Beijing, he probably wouldn’t have such concerns. And Beisitian left with peace of mind precisely because she knew the situation in Beijing.

Shi Guang didn’t entirely hide in the small motel, though. He knew Luo Yirui was attending kindergarten, no—he’d heard Auntie mention he’d skipped a grade and was now in first grade at just five years old.

Occasionally, Shi Guang played the role of a passerby, walking past Luo Yirui’s school, especially at dismissal time.

Seeing the tiny figure walking in the evening glow, even Shi Guang, often labeled a genius, had to admit that compared with this child, his own ’genius’ halo seemed somewhat dim.

At his age, Shi Guang was just starting to learn about herbal medicine, the most basic kind, since he had limited literacy. But looking at the young Luo Yirui, he could already practice Spiritual Pointing.

Moreover, what Shi Guang saw on Luo Yirui’s face wasn’t ’genius,’ but a calm steadiness he hadn’t achieved by the age of fifteen.

Maybe some people deliberately put him on a pedestal, but he himself was also quite unmotivated, becoming giddy over a few words from others. Although he wouldn’t show off, bearing the ’genius’ label always made him feel he was ahead of others.

This was a result of internal family struggles and the elders’ neglect of his psychological growth.

So he specially went to Beijing to remind Auntie to pay attention to the child’s psychological development, to avoid being put on a pedestal.

But now, it seemed he was overthinking things. Auntie’s way of education was very appropriate. The child’s face and eyes showed no sign of restlessness or arrogance. Those eyes were as calm as a lake, and they even gave him a sense of wisdom.

Feeling wisdom in a five-year-old child, he thought he had seen it all.

Thinking this, Luo Yirui seemed to spot him, staring directly at him. Shi Guang felt a bit embarrassed and waved from afar, turning around and leaving. It was still better not to approach the child for now. Who knows what that group’s true intentions were?

Besides, rushing over to tell the kid he was in danger or someone wanted to kidnap him wouldn’t do anything but make the child panic. It wouldn’t be effective. Expecting a five-year-old to save himself was a joke.

Shi Guang observed for two days and noticed that every time school let out, a crowd of parents gathered at the school entrance, but Luo Yirui always went to and from school alone, without anyone picking him up.

”Is Auntie’s heart too big? With such a gifted child, isn’t she afraid of him being targeted?” Shi Guang pondered while standing by a utility pole, watching the school gate from afar.

First-grade students held hands as they left school, but Luo Yirui had quite the character, hanging at the back alone, not holding hands with the girls beside him, walking by himself. When the teacher announced school dismissal, he would leave by himself.

Perhaps Auntie had instructed them, as the teachers weren’t surprised by this.

While Shi Guang stood by the utility pole, a shadowy figure in the corner quietly observed him.

”Still the same two groups keeping an eye on Young Master. Continue to report the intelligence to Brother Quan,” the person hidden in the shadows whispered.

They recognized Shi Guang, who had once recuperated in the small courtyard, but he left Beijing and returned, frequently appearing near the young master, behaving peculiarly, naturally attracting attention.

As for the other group, they’ve been under close surveillance. Zhou Quan investigated them, but discovered that, with his current means, he couldn’t find much. After all, Luo Xudong only granted him authority in Beijing.

He immediately reported the situation to Luo Xudong, waiting for instructions.
